Choice of Rebels: Uprising — Lead the revolt against a bloodthirsty empire!

19 years old

EDIT:

You raise your chin and glare at ${deputy}. "Close enough to twenty. Fully there by the time we call our first apella."I was basing it on this excerpt from chapter 2, but there’s so much material to comb through that I’m not sure what age the MC is when first introduced.

You do in fact need 2 CHA to get Zvad to stay in that situation.

Correction: 18 at the start. They aren’t old enough for an apella by Karagond standards.

I got near max opinion with every faction in this low-anarchy run. I even got Mikal de Rose’s help and beat the Archon’s army with 280 adult survivors. I feel pretty good about this. https://imgur.com/a/DFRAa1D

Is a 2INT/1COM build any good? Wanna make a character that is incredibly intelligent but just can’t really relate to others well which explains the poor charisma but I wanna know if this build is any good first before I commit

It works well if you want to be combat oriented and high anarchy. This is the build I went with in fact.

With 2 INT you can use theurgy to do nearly everything you could do with 1 COM, so IMO having both is pointless unless you’re refusing to use theurgy or trying to get that one Owlscap achievement. With 1 CHA you get more options.

What about 2COM/1INT?

I think all the stat combinations have their pros and cons, which makes XoR a balanced game, if you’re looking to go that route. But a word of advice: you won’t be able to stop the rebels from sacking Rim Square with 0 CHA, if you choose to save them from the Harrowing. If you try to micro manage the winter weeks, you’ll probably find yourself relying more on Breden, as far as catching mules and consoling the band goes.

Any build is potentially viable. It all depends on what you want out of the game, though. If your plan with a combat-focused build is to fight the Archon, I would say it will be pretty hard without any charisma because you will have to rely on Breden so much and Breden doesn’t want to fight, so they’ll overrule you.

There’s always the option of firing Breden immediately and then not relying on charismatic support at all. Morale can be built on the skulls of your enemies.

Belated salutations back atcha.

Sorry for the silence (to you and others with questions or feedback). We’re in the thick of high stakes negotiations with the government of Nepal over the terms of our charitable work, and it’s sucked away all my time for working on XoR – plus a not insubstantial share of my will to live…

But the finish line is in sight. Even if our current limbo drags on a while longer, I’m on a nine-month countdown to handing the reins over to a colleague. Hoping to hand her a relatively stable and functional organisation… but either way, my time at the helm will be over soon, and I’ll then be writing full time for a while.

I hope at some point in the next month or two things will lighten up and I’ll have more time to follow up on feedback and answer questions. (Inner Voice was written to work for CHA 2 characters; if I’ve gated that off so Breden is required, it was a mistake.) Please feel free to keep posting them here… I will catch up eventually!

No worries mate,

High stakes negotiations between the Nepalese government and your NGO take precedence over your rabid horde of adoring fans. Do good and give the bureaucracy hell.

Hi! I love the game and I can’t wait for part 2! I have a question about Horion. I think I’ve found a bug on the Android version, is this the place to report that…? If you take Horion hostage in chapter 3, then release him in chapter 4, there’s a little bit of dialogue from him. I’ve been looking at the choicescript code from the APK in the hounds.txt file. The dialogue varies depending on whether Linos is alive. If I’m reading this right, horion=18 or horion=20 means Linos is dead, and that version of the dialogue works fine, however the version of the dialogue where Linos is alive is broken and won’t show up.

*if (horion != 17) and (horion != 20)
“With your permission, {kuria} {lname},” Horion says, thin-voiced, offering the slightest of bows.

MC is supposed to say “Off to find your theurge/philosopher then?” and he responds “With your permission.” but I never get his response.

I believe this should be if (horion != 18), thoughts?

Edit: also the scene where you release Horion is kinda interrupted in the middle if Treth and the Brecklanders show up, I’m not sure if that was intentional

No worries at all! I hope you’re very proud of yourself, in between the weariness and challenges. Best of luck with the transition. Thanks too for clarifying re: Inner Voice!

The community is holding tight; enthusiasm and excitement has not waned. The discord is fairly popping, particularly considering we’re deep in the lull between books.

It’s not much, but in the spirit of holding tight until the future arrives I painted my interpretation of the eight-rayed sun used as one of the rebellion’s possible sigils:

"Sign of a new day and a new Order"

The red theme symbolises the blood of our martyrs and the blood of the oppressors both. The dark middle represents either the true dark blood that flows through our veins - symbolising the purity of our movement - or the corruption and evil that may pervade our new regime as the temptations of power debase our original intent. Only time will tell.

Here’s to a bright future for us all!

I see a lot of people mentioning characters that weren’t in the first game. Is there a demo of the second game I’m missing?

also @Havenstone, Have you thought of adding a max stats cheat that allows the player to get 2-2-2 across the three major stats? I’ve seen similar COG and Hosted games do such a thing. You could make it an in-game purchase at like a dollar or two. I’m sure some would be willing to buy it. I know I would.

I think people are mentioning future characters that Havenstone has talked about here on the forums.

That makes sense. Havenstone would’ve linked a demo at the top.

It’s possible that some names you’ve seen popping around the thread belong to the planned ROs. Here’s a list of them, I think that’s the most recently updated one.

Thanks for that!

Also, why is Calea attracted to helot men? Is it a fetish?

In case of confusion, I mean the part where she’s specifically attracted to helots.
