I had always maintain that it wasn’t Breden who poison the food, no sensible assassin spy will be such foolish to do that because they will be the prime suspect for such act, it should be the act of the 2nd spy who want to frame Breden
@Norilinde i never thought of that , but it is a possible theory … it could be the father order Joanna to do it , or Joanna could be the hidden spy … because she was one of the person who could get near the food , Breden made sound argument that why only half of the food was poison , it didn’t start from the cooking process
I think we do. The Thaumatarch is the Thaumatarch for a reason, and I think that he understands the dynamics of power and how that much decadence would inspire tomfoolery im his heir (presuming he does plan to make his child his heir).
I suppose the same is true for the Traitor? This is so GoT; realistic and visceral. Makes you second guess your decisions in a game, and think of the consquences for days when you have stuff to do irl.
So in Game 5 can we can choose to end it all? When our ruthless and devout Mc has this revelation and his faith is shaken and decides to make a living hell on the Physical Plane to spite them?
And in my case hopefully connected to all of the important seas, eventually.
As far as my mc is concerned though Avezia is not Shayardene. But with that’s likely to be a moot point with all the new administrative divisions that are going to arise.
Hmmmm…I never thought of it, maybe because I didn’t think him quite that spiteful, yes he doesn’t like his kid and him poisoning the mc’s food, but poisoning the whole band to get to the mc.
Aside from what cascat said how come they know Hegemony codes and carry at least some influence with those assigned to “quell” our rebellion?
What. The. F***?
Sorry, I read the other posts. But wow, that is one way of interpreting it. Now if only Cazarosta were the same… (Sighs)
Well, since Breden and the other cooks left the food untended, anyone could have done something to it. Was there only one cooking pot for however many hundreds of rebels were present? Could we feed hundreds of people with only one possibly big cooking pot? If there was more than one cooking pot, maybe not all of the cooking pots or not all of the batches got poisoned? If Joana Orchard wanted the MC poisoned, starting up a conversation that would kill the MC’s appetite was a poor way to try to poison the MC.
Agreed.
I do not think it is any stretch of the imagination to consider the noble MC’s father spiteful enough to poison everyone. For an arrogant noble, there would be no issue with poisoning a bunch of helots. As for the helot MC’s father, that depends on whether or not you think the MC’s father may have betrayed the helotry to the Hegemony years earlier. It has been noted that the poisoning does not occur if Breden is not around, but I think that could also be explained by the MC’s father wanting Breden to take the fall since the MC’s father may partially blame Breden for the father’s change in life circumstances.
My MC is currently leaning towards Umri for an eventual capital. If it turns out that my MC is more closely aligned philosophically with the anti-Xthonic philosophers of old Erezza and that those philosophies are still popularly held in modern Erezza, then… you win and my MC would also probably pick Avezia
. Though I would note that the strategic value of having access to the sea might be slightly lessened in Avezia’s case if the strait at Aegre is narrow enough that whoever controls Aegre or the opposite side can deny surface passage to ships from Avezia. Admittedly, the Grand Canal would lessen though not eliminate that concern.
This is true, but if my mc’s faction controls both it could serve nicely to separate the political capital from the naval/military one. Also with the canal completed I have the feeling the northern Ocean being less surrounded by the Federation and Halassur likely offers the more promising future trade routes and if that’s true it is very possible that whatever currently unnamed podunk fishing village lies at the northern terminus might grow into an important naval base and the possible economic capital in time. A possible “New York” of this world.
When it comes to infrastructure there is also the option of building a “small” canal in addition to the Grand one. The small canal would essentially turn that small Italian boot of a peninsula on the Erezza side of Avezia into an island and facilitate more rapid movement along the southern coast.
Even if they’re not widely held the rebellion can possibly bring them into fashion again. As an aside my helot mc loved Horion’s suddenly scared reaction to him being able to cogently reference and debate them when they guy had been mildly patronizing and disrespectful for the entire rest of the conversation prior to that. Particularly a cosmopolitan skeptic anti-Xthonic Church rebellion being the main force toppling the old Hegemony is going to be a severe blow to the legitimacy of the Hegemonic Church and the version of the Xthonic faith it is peddling in and of itself, particularly when the rebellion does not claim to be and in fact refuses to claim it’s ordained by the “angels” or led by an “eclect”.
Though my mc can live with religion as long as the free religious market stays free for all lawful religions through the appropriate competition/anti-trust laws and their enforcement.
Remember everyone Poison only happens If Breden is in the group. If Breden is in the group even if we are 30 people and are all in missions there is poisoned food. No breden no poisoning. I am completely sure is Breden Due if you send All my men away in missions poison happens so is Breden
There are other explanations. I suspect we’ll never know the truth. For better or worse, we’ll also soon have much bigger things to worry about as well.
No Breden no poisoning also i can send daddy to helots camps still happens. In fact with my numbers I have Breden ONLY in camp and poisoning happens.
except is a ghost when only one person is in camp only one suspect is possible
The poisoning happens at the end so the MC’s father would be back with your MC. Unfortunately, we cannot send the MC’s father to the helot camps permanently. So at a minimum, you would have the MC’s father and Breden (if still present) at the end. Is it actually possible to do Chapter 4 with only 2 or 3 people? If it is possible, that sounds like an oversight.
I had like twenty people and all away in that moment. Think I don’t test very often as I play without Breden by principle. but at least in beta i ended that point with everyone out but maybe is was some glitch
Because If Breden was not there, there was no reason to frame Breden
The purpose was to frame Breden, like that someone hated her , so he/she wanted to frame her… If Breden not around, there was no reason to do that
I thought there were certain members of the band that could not be sent away (however much my MC might have wanted to do so). I think I only played that route once out of curiosity so I honestly have no idea.
But they do need an excuse to harrow helots. That’s why they co-opted an entire religion to provide a justification for routine ritual murder. “To save us all from Xaos” will be happily accepted by many of their subjects (so long as it’s happening to someone else), “to fuel our magic so we can secure our hold over you” will not.
They can only have so many harrowings before even the helots are pushed too far and their empire disintegrates from the ground up.
You don’t need an heir if you’ve got immortality.
Even if not, the Thaumatarch’s child is unlikely to be qualified as a Theurge on the level that would be required to be accepted as Thaumatarch. I’m pretty sure that, for that reason, succession to the Thaumatarchy is not hereditary.
I love this game! Is there any updates on the progress of the second one?
Or the Traitor became afraid, suspecting that the Mc had killed Breden, and therefore would not want to make overt actions against the Rebellion.
Why adopt then? I’m sorry if this was discussed before.
Wouldn’t that be the point of adopting an heir? Make sure there’s always someone of the dynasty Hera started qualified to take over? Remember dynasties in the Hegemony follow the older Egyptian to Roman models, where if you don’t have a competent heir you can adopt one, probably even someone who is already an adult.
This is inheritance law is one of the (legal) aspects my mc does want to preserve, not in the least because it puts gay and lesbian couples on a mostly equal footing among the non helots, and given how much importance the Laconniers seem to attach to bloodline, as opposed to the dynastic name my mc does fear bloodline nonsense possibly being in the Shayardene version of the Codex.
