Its always been an interesting debate on COG. I personally never felt that the author is accountable to accommodating any whim I want to follow through on with my character. None of us, to my knowledge, commissioned one of the COG writers to write a custom story for us and we all find ourselves edging towards gross entitlement when we say “my character would never” especially when we aren’t careful.
Havenstone is putting together a piece with its own message and core sensibility. We can support it or not, but bellyaching about romance options in an incomplete part one of a long saga that we are playing for free comes off as a little bit rude.
You were complaining about how you felt like you had to have a homosexual thats literally the same thing i was saying about having to have a straight romance.
If I suddenly come into a lot of money one of these days I do so want to hire someone like @Cataphrak to do just that.
Meh, it’ll probably turn out to be something to feed my Cassius vam Holt obsession in that case.
Thank you, Bagelthief – that means a great deal to me. I’m so glad you are enjoying the game (and contributing to it!) despite it not representing your actual gender.
And thanks, Urban, for de-escalating the argument. You’re always welcome to point out when I’ve written something you dislike.
Hopefully we can shift the tone away from arguing and back to discussing… um, Guns of Infinity, apparently. @idonotlikeusernames, doesn’t that already have a dedicated thread somewhere?
As an author, I find this kind of daunting. I want to be friendly to all but if your attraction comes and goes, how do I avoid setting you up for disappointment as the story progresses?
In most stories I really do not care for romance (Choice of Vampires and Choice of Romance the two exceptions) so I usually just pick the most “interesting” character to romance but what I see as “interesting” does not come and go… I hope you or @Havenstone understand my concern here.
I’d hire you too @Havenstone if I wasn’t afraid the US government would then try to kill me for “attempting to bribe” one of its agents. I’m also not sure I’d ever have enough money to do that in any case.
But understood, though @Longwaywest’s bait seemed too good for me to ignore.
In any case you haven’t answered it yet, how does the Hegemony view and deal with transgender people?
Aha, I love how polite you are in this! Chivalrous!
Honestly, I get disappointed in real life too.
It’s become a joke with my friends. Naked hot person walks in front of me, feel as dead as a desert. Some bagpipe song shuffles onto my playlist at 9pm on a Friday night and suddenly tfw no gf. Don’t like a guy for two years, one day, suddenly romantic attraction. Was it the way the wind was blowing? Did the stars align? I’ll never know. But it was gone in a week.
Sometimes it lasts for much longer than that, but with a busy college mentally ill lifestyle I don’t… really search out long-term commitment. lmao so I can’t tell u much.
Its not really much of a problem. Don’t worry abt catering to me, I do fine. If you need something from me, I’d say Bioware options to break up or back out of romances are great if something goes stale for a long time, as are the Story of Seasons options to try and rekindle them under certain circumstances and with high enough rapport.[quote=“idonotlikeusernames, post:2889, topic:1601”]

Is there any particular difference between the “dealing with” transgender and transexual folks?
On reflection… I think you’re right, and there is a way I can open up the Calea negotiations to nobles in the other Hector options, consistent with her character. I’ll make that tweak by the next update.
I know you weren’t necessarily referring to Rebels here, but I’d note that my intent with the vomiting scene (in one possible branch of the de Merre fight) is not that it’s the MC’s first kill, but a reaction to a particularly gruesome and in-your-face death. Whether or not that’s realistic I leave to the readers’ judgment.
In the interest of making it possible to see Breden as a just a good looking guy/girl, can there be an option at the feast from the start that’s just a refusal to dance rather than being jealous?
Ah yes, good point - that would be one point where it is sort of heavily implied that your MC is indeed attracted to Breden regardless what you have chosen previously.
Ok let me try again why I think its bad about the RO. And I shall only speak about what I think, others can agree or disagree.
I didnt like Brenden because of her personality, I even tried a run romancing her and it didnt change my opnion about her (it doesnt mean I want to kill her). And to make it worse, I feel as the game is forcing me to her, you as the writer might not see as I see. A good example is how I can state that I’m not attracted to the other 2 right off the bat but not Brenden.
I dont think its a fair choice to enforce “its Brenden or nothing” and say that will be more option in the next game thanI dont know when will be released. While romance is not that will define if I will buy or not a game (Sabres of Infinity is one of my favorite game as is others game with very little romance like Lord of Aswick), it is a aspect that I enjoy.
You can say that I could choose Brenden to be a man, but the way I feel with the game forcing Brenden to me and no option to say I’m not attracted to Brenden’s sex doesnt make it a path that I would enjoy.
I would like (but I know it will not be possible, especially because you have a deadline), to make Brenden the sex that I’m not attracted and the others two (Suzanne and I think its Katha) to be the sex I liked. It would still have the dynamic of one character of the gender that you doesnt like, like you and give me a choice on who to romance (someone told I’m like the guys who complained about the options of DAI, what I think is unfair because in DAI you had at least two choices).
If I didnt like any of the three, then it would be on me, but at least it wouldnt leave me feeling that I had no choice at all.
Oh are we giving Havenstone commissions now? Alright then, @Havenstone I’ll send my story draft over this evening with an upfront pay of $1000 and $5000 when it is completed.I’ll have that amount converted to any currency of your choice if you’d so like… The project is due by 2018. I believe that is a fair deal wouldn’t you say?
Ah, I see I’m still that one percent who’s MC is pretty okay with Breden being his RO. Idk makes me pretty confident that she isn’t the traitor if she’s that interested in the MC. I however am starting to think that it’s actually the father who’s been doing all of the betrayal though.
@ Omg YESSS! I also think its the father!!!
My Mc already hates his dad so that would be an awsome chance to get rid off that old man! (I also like Breden, hes sweet! )
@Razgriz and @GloriaRose - I would suspect the Father but he seems to be an extreme sloth and petulant type of person. more prone to sulk and stew until he can throw his bitter resentment directly at you (as he does at the campfire if you follow a certain path).
She really isn’t that bad in my view. A bit forceful and perhaps clingy but hey in a world of uncertainty and imminent death is it really that wrong to hang around those you care for a lot?
Oh! So this idea hasn’t been looked into yet, I was expecting an immediate dismissal of my hypothesis. I think he’s the one that makes the most sense to be the traitor. He was from the village, nobody suspects him either. He likely has free reign on where he goes as well so I doubt anyone would’ve noticed were he to be around when we’re plotting. He even has a motive to do so too. Try and ruin the rebellion to have them spare your life.
@Zolataya, I’d think the same if he hadn’t showed such concern when you snuck into the tavern again. If you’re a helot he beats you just to make sure you’re not taken away. He’s just trying to protect his child in the only way he can. Have you noticed how furious he gets with the more chaos you commit? It means the hegemony are less likely to spare you with each hostile act.
Radmar and Breden both don’t have enough of a motive to commit this level of treachery. Radmar cared far too much for Alless to do it and Breden was the one who started this entire rebellion.
I hate Breden with all my heart and I was the one that convinced @Havenstone to not shoehorned us Breden kiss and love. But I don’t think game forced you to be homosexual and You could find someone of your gender being pretty without being sexual attracted to him her. I get the Breden as girl like me , my character is little jealous about her being pretty and lil slut. Anyway , our hatred (mine and Mara’s) is limitless .DIE BREDEN DIE
