Thanks to a very scientific poll conducted on our forums, we’re proud to announce that our “most underrated” games, aka the Hidden Gems, are on sale on our website!
Pick them up for discounts up to 40% off until April 3rd on choiceofgames.com!
I really hope this sale will bring these games some richly-deserved attention.
Jo Graham and Amy Griswold have written several stellar games, so it is no small matter when I say that The Play’s the Thing is my favorite. It’s a celebration of the act of creation, the dynamic world of theatre, and the power of art in a world of injustice and strife. There’s also a curse (if you believe that kind of thing), a tragic backstory (if you can find it), and an adorable little dog you can befriend (DOGGO). If you’re a Shakespeare nerd like me, this will go straight onto your list of favorites, but even if you’re not the sort of person who refers to the Bard as “the Bard,” there’s a lot to enjoy here.
Cliffhanger: Challenger of Tomorrow is a pastiche of old-timey serials, and William Brown absolutely nails it. It’s over-the-top, sometimes preposterously so, jam-packed with page-turner, blockbuster, potboiler thrills. Those who know Brown as the author of The Beast of Glenkildove will discover a new side to his talent. I usually prefer more character-driven stories, but Cliffhanger is just plain fun. Plus - and I cannot emphasize this enough - you can shoot Hitler in the face. Why would you not buy a game that allows you to shoot Hitler in the face? You know you want to.
I haven’t yet played any of the other three games, but I feel confident suggesting you at least check out Choice of Broadsides: HMS Foraker. Choice of Broadsides was probably the first ChoiceScript game I ever played, and even though nautical yarns aren’t my usual genre, I was enchanted. HMS Foraker isn’t a sequel per se, but it is set in the same world, and it’s by Paul Wang, author of the Dragoon Saga, so I figure it has to be worth reading.
Well, when I click on the price tag of 4,99 Euro the website sends me all the way to the choice of games app and then I see the game with the full price of 6,99 Euros.
If you are using an Android phone, the website will automatically redirect to the Google Play Store; if you are using an iPhone, you can buy in the browser. If you have access to a computer you should be able to purchase on the website and later restore your purchase into the omnibus if that’s what you prefer.
The sale is different not just in that it is website only, it’s also a week long rather than being on all platforms and only 48 hours long as in previous years. We’re trying something different. We do web only sales from time to time. Purchasing on the web is one of the best ways to support our work and our authors–there are no platforms fees and you can restore your purchase to the omnibus app.
Oh how much I love Cliffhanger Challenger of Tomorrow just by the novel’s trailer alone it is truly an exciting tittle, give it a try guys if you haven’t, defeating the moustache man is only one of the satisfying moments that forge the story, the game doesn’t pull any punches the gloves are mostly off and that’s great.
