Ha! It’s better than my attempt at a logos.
My first was CHOOF ICEBOX!!!
My current attempt is
I think it looks very good, may have to figure out how to use both.
Hmmm, I didn’t even think about trying to spell something with it. Should I do that, you think? Also, how do you guys feel about an animated logo? Or would that be too distracting?
@fantom your art work is awesome, but I errored. @FairyGodfeather had started this project awhile ago. It was my mistake thinking he had given up on it and for not checking with him first. SO I have to apologize to both of you. I will be happy to use your art somewhere on the site, but I did give this first to @FairyGodfeather. I hope you understand. And again I am sorry to both of you.
@lordirishdas That’s all right, I was planning on doing this anyway. I needed the practice and new wallpaper
Anyway, this actually gave me an idea: would you be open to adding a section for user submitted artwork, if it’s relevant to CoG?
I’m good with using whatever. I was just messing around in my art programme. I’m not an artist.
I find animated stuff distracting.
I’d asked an actual artist if he’d work on a logo. I’m not sure if he’s done anything yet though.
@irish @fairy
How can we write articles I was hoping to do about writing books
@fantom then by all means pleaae go ahead. But I agree no animated please.
@JLBH
I am still figuring out wordpress so for now just write it up and I will post it for you.
*Edit I will put that on my list of things to takle today.
Thanks Irish message me when you beat it
@JLBH I did find a plug in that should work but wont be able to install it until tonight.
@lordirishdas
Giving other users publishing permissions is pretty straight forward, you just go to your wordpress control panel and go to users or usergroups or some similar tab (can’t remember the exact name).
You can use emails or handles to set people as ‘Authors’ or ‘Admins’ (etc.) all with differing permissions.
@CJW thank you but I have tried author up through editor, but does not not alow create page. The WordPress plugin, can’t remeber the name, foes give you that option. I have it installed but cannot make the changes from my phone. Will have to wait until I can get on my laptop.
You need to be an admin or similar to create pages, that basically gives them access to your control panel. I’m all but certain that you don’t need a plugin.
You’re probably looking at making people Editors if you want them to create new pages (not just posts).
@CJW with the plugin I can set them author and still allow add page.
*edit From testing editor does not allow add page.
I just find it hard to believe that wordpress’ official documentation is wrong …
But hey if you want to install the plugin, go for it, it just seems silly to do that when it should already be present as core functionality.
@CJW after reading it does seem editor should be able to create pages, yet I was unable to do so. I setup a second login name and set it as editor yet I could not add a page. The plugin should be fine for now but I do need to go back and check this in more depth. Thanks for pointing it out.
@CJW is correct on the editor. Seem it did not save the changes I made so I was not truely in editor mode while testing. @JLBH you should be able to add pages now.
As far as emailing reg to this site, not going to happen.
I found this in the bug tracking department. Not much help but at least it gives a reason.
WP installed in cPanel add-on domains do not send welcome messages to new WP users.
http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2844
It is marked “Won’t fix”.
There some work arounds but just pm me and I will add you happly.
A possible work around to the registration email would be to redirect all your registration link instances to WordPress.com.
Once they’ve registered they can come back and log in, presuming you are linked in with the WordPress user base.
Thank you Irish
@CJW I setup an accout with wordpress but was not able to login into the site. I did find a patch for reg to the site directly. Will be trying to add this afternoon.
@JLBH No problem.
@Everyone I will be backing up the site then working on the code for the site until Sunday night. So it maybe down off and on over the weekend.
