@Okami-Nora You know those times when you wake up in the morning and take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and when you open the door you fall through and wake up and it turns out it was just a dream??

Ohhhhh, now this nickname backstory I gotta hear (and I’m also now interested in what insulting yet and accurate nickname Damon has for Alexander)
Also, the more I thought about it, the more I realized I’ve been subconsciously characterizing Alex as aggressively smart (aka, Santi 2.0, now with more efficient jerkassery!). Helena is also reasonably intelligent (you kind of have to be, to survive a childhood with Athena, I think) but intentionally ignores her higher reasoning skills so that she doesn’t come to the correct conclusions. Vesper…I actually would appreciate help with her.
Her depression makes it hard to gauge what is her natural capacity for analytical thinking and what is her attempts to process emotions and events due to emotional detachment.

I actually had to read this 3 times to figure out what I was being told about. 
But yeah, that has happened to me more than once too.
Damon: What? Don’t trust me? 
‘Sweetheart’ is actually a general nickname Damon has for most females, but he tends to use it for either one of two different reasons. One reason is because it’s a female who he barely knows as more than a acquaintance and the other is because he’s referring to a female that he knows enough to not like or trust in any way. In Vesper’s case, he uses it because he barely knows her. You can tell which way he’s using a nickname by the tone he’s saying it.
When he nicknames certain people he feels close to in a friendship kinda way, the nicknames tend to be more personalized for that person (he sees Helena more like a little sister, which is why he refers to her as Sunshine; he’d probably eventually call Saint the same thing if they end up developing a familial bond). For example, he’d probably refer to Calypso as ‘Huntress’ because Damon respects her as a fellow warrior and knows that she’s got aspirations to join Artemis’ Hunters. But if his interest was starting to become romantic, the tone in which calls her Huntress would become more heated and takes a different kind of teasing tone. He’d also slip in using her actual name when she least expects it (and not just because he’s got something serious to talk about).
I’ll get back on you on this; need to think about it more. That said, his nicknames for males are very dependent on his relationship toward them (he often refers to most by their last name when the relationship is neutral).
No wonder I can see Helena get defensive with Damon at times; he’s all about deductive reasoning and rationality most of the time.
Try to imagine yourself in her shoes for a moment. On better days, when her depression isn’t too severe, how does she take in the world around her? During times when she’s at her lowest, what exactly effects the way she sees things around her and how does if cause her to take things in (or reject them) during these times? What eases her depression to some extent and causes her to open a bit and what end up making it worse and causes her to withdraw into herself?
Just a few questions to think about in this regards (at least, the ones that currently cross my mind). I personally think imagining the way the Bearers absorb the world around them is a good stepping stone to discovering the way their mind works.

I’ve never really considered such questions for my characters, Bearers or otherwise.
Hmm...
On her better days (or nights, I definitely see Vess as being a night person), Vess is all about sensory stimuli. She doesn’t just remember the events of a good day, she remembers the colors, the smells, the sounds, the heat of the room, the taste of smoke in the air, but when she’s in a bad way everything is dampened. Normal days are usually like there’s a window pane between her and everyone else. She can still access her five senses, but it’s muffled in a way. You can’t hear exactly what’s being said, you can’t smell what’s in front of you, you can’t reach your hand out toward the fire, it’s second-hand heat from the window pane.
On really bad days it’s a fog that stifles sounds, smothers the light, steals the heat of moments, makes everything smell wet and taste mushy. It’s just cold, damp, and dark.
Like with me, music is her respite. Not so much that it snaps her out of it, but that it still filters through the fog and helps her wait for the fog to clear.
For sure performing helps her deal with her day-to-day issues because her out-of-body-ish experiences actually help her identify with the audience so she can put on a good show.
I think silence is what makes things worse for her, because for her silence is suffocating and it lets her darker thoughts and feelings become more loud instead of drowning them out as she usually does.
So her analytical thinking…is really a crutch. The only thing that isn’t usually dampened by the window pane in her day-to-day is her vision, so it’s like she watching everything happen around as though it’s a TV without sound, how you just observe and put pieces together from there, and can sometimes come to realizations more quickly because there aren’t any other senses to distract you.

Helena…experiences thing through her emotions. She definitely uses her senses, and her brain processes things, but the way she remembers things, commits them to memory, is how they made her feel.
Where Vess will remember the texture of a cat’s fur and the pitch of it meow, Lena will remember how cute it was and how ecstatic it made her feel for the rest of the day.
Alex is a bit of a hybrid. He remembers the stimuli the appealed to him and the ones that annoyed him. He’ll remember how soft the cat’s fur was, but he’ll also remember how sharp the claws were. How angry he was when the cat bit him when all he wanted to do was scratch under its chin.
He’s pretty much me but with no chill, lol.
How about Evander and Damon? And everyone else is free to answer too, these questions are really interesting to run through!

God, Nyx would have been creeped out if someone called her with cheesy nicknames. But she likes to play nice so she’ll just go along with it, while planning an escape route. Worst case scenario, she uses her trump card:

I like pineapple pizza too, but in my experience a majority of people seem to think that it’s… Weird? What i’m trying to say that people can easily judge someone based on their interests, so that’s why a simple thing as a slice of pineapple pizza can make people less interested in knowing you.
