No @Rohie has confirmed that both hibernate when they die. Until now the gods couldn’t determine when and in whom they would re born. So because x they knew so decided make us reborn as demigods too try change the pattern . However, it is clear there is something fishy going on with all the gods intervention in the fate. Also there is Chipmunk enigma I wouldn’t be surprised if she is Kronos song or a titan in disguise…
The paranoia is strong in this one. May it at least better your chances of survival…
I feel like they do let them slumber most of the time. They only use the children when they are in dire need. The gods may be able to control when the births occur, but they have no control over the children’s free will and with how they will view the world after their birth. Will they like the gods or despise them? Will they grow up to be cruel or kind? Those choices, those variables they can’t control seem to be the sources of the gods’ fears. It sounds like the gods are willing to risk the chance of having a cruel Bearer if the alternative is having no chance at persevering through whatever dilemma they’re trying to fight in the first place.
Athena backs this up after Lavei confronts the Seekers. She says “I always knew you were good” if the Seeker is spared and, more tellingly, something along the lines of “How I wanted to save you this time. Maybe in your next life…” if you end up killing him. The gods already had to deal with cruel Bearers in the past and your choice either gives Athena hope or makes her resigned to the continuing cycle
See I don’t think they really can do this. They eventually can influence the pattern in some way but it really seems as if they don’t have that much controll over it as they may wish for. Them making the Bearer/Bestower a demigod seems more like a precaution, because they can not prevent them from being born around the time of the Second titanomachy. So the make them a demigod. At the risk of giving them in case of their betrayal even more power, to avoid them being on Cronus side strictly from the beginning.
Just because the Gods did meet some of MCs earlier incarnation, doesn’t mean they have to be responsible for them being born around that time (though their influence indeed could have turned them evil/desperate. But it’s not as if MC was the only one that got ripped off by the gods. Also shouldn’t Aphrodite in that case not be aware that MC was around during the Trojan War? She seemed rather suprised by this.
Hmm, that’s a good point about Aphrodite… But then I wonder if Zeus influenced that birth timing without the other gods’ consent? To use Paris as a trigger for the Trojan War?
In that case I want to be there when Aphrodite confronts Zeus about that. Because if the gods really have complete control over the Essence’s rebirth circle, she should know that someone rigged things this time around.
Also what’s the use of Paris being the Bestower for triggering the war? If MC would have be Helen, making the influence of both falling in love stronger through that connection, maybe, but as things are now…What’s the use?
I tought that the term children refered to the demi-gods in general, not specifically to the B&B.
Because, at the danger of repeting myself, Aphrodite didn’t know who we were during our time in the Trojan War. I assumed that the rest of the gods didn’t know either. So I imagine that unless we live until our 18th birthday, the Essence is mostly dormant, explaining why we haven’t wreaked havoc until our current life, and why the gods can’t figure out where the B&B are when they are mortals.
He might have, but I doubt it. I think that the God’s policy about the B&B is to avoid contact, so that they never realize what they are. Because with knowledge comes power, and the gods don’t want to share it. Or to paraphrase the Goddess of Love : “They are simply thinking of the Universe and all aspects that threaten it, and that just happens to include you”
So I think he guessed/theorized that Eris, when scorned, would do what she does best, aka breading contempt and strife. And he used that opportunity to diminish the number of demi-gods. A house cleaning of sorts, since apparently the gods can’t fight their own wars.
He had no way of knowing the B&B would be involved. And there was no point in involving them. Since the whole point of the war was to get rid of demi-gods who were to numerous.
Well the trigger for the war wasn’t Paris eloping with Helen; it was really Paris, who supposedly grew up as an honest and fair guy, giving the Golden Apple to Aphrodite. Maybe Zeus doctored the entire event as a way to stop the prophecy about Thetis’s son becoming more powerful than him? (Achilles still, after all, ended up dying due to Paris’s choice).
@Nyxerie I’m using the term “The children” for B&B since that’s what the Trinity and Athena referred to them specifically as in the prologue
And I’d say Zeus trying to stop a prophecy that would dethrone him would count as a part of the “threatening the Universe” bit for the King of the Gods. History repeats itself and Zeus could very well try not to fall prey to the same treatment Uranus and Cronus both went through
I’m just really on Zeus case today I guess?
And how would Paris be the Bestower in anyway facilitate that development? Wouldn’t it be just one more risk to deal with?
Yeah, but moreso in context of who should father those children. Because some of the gods remembered that this time they would influence them from the get-go. And that they are not just born as heroes/warriors for the gods, but have to be shaped into those roles.
Yeah but Paris being the Bestower or just a random honorable and honest human would have led to the same outcome! The power of the Essence was not needed at the time.
Zeus just needed to start a war, that would in turn allow him to send many demi-gods to their death.
Also the prophecy concerning Thetis said that any child of hers would surpass his father! Since Achilles’s father is human, Zeus didn’t have anything to fear!
…very well, I know when to back down and take my tinfoil hat off. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t put it past Zeus to be over-paranoid of prophecies about his downfall
Oh my! What is this game doing to us? Hahah
We have analyzed the games to the bones and the speculation never stop!
Good work with the fanart,Whoever posted it (too Lazy to find you), I was considering drawing something myself…
Woops my hand slipped
No one is ever ganna convince me that anyone over the height of 6 feet would turn down a piggy back ride.
Especially if Totally-not-your-sister Nyx was built like a tank.
Do not take the Tinfoil hat off, my friend! You never know when you will have another flash of clarity! Actually, I forbid you from taking it off!

Wanna try to analyze Zeus for us, like you did Poseidon?
@greenapple I cannot draw to save my life. I have no artistical talent. But that is why there is deviantart!
Really I envy anyone capable of doing anything artistic with their hands!
Here is a portrait that is the closest depiction of my MC I have found:
The only difference is that instead of the red pattern, in my imagination it is midnight/cerulean blue! Some people are really talented!
PS : I HAVE NO MORE LIKES GUYS, WHAT DO I DO!
The Gods cannot influence when the Bearer and Bestower are born. There is a way to find out when they’ll be born, which will be explained at a later time.
The prophecy won’t make sense until the opening of the gates, which will occur in the next update! I am bursting with…excitement
. There’s a lot in this chapter that really puts things into motion.
Considering how long it will be, I might have to break things up into two chapters.
Also, I’m pretty sure this next update will complete Part One: Begin Again.
Every like @Rohie throws my way serves as both a huge compliment and another step towards my road to theory paranoia
@yagamikuuno Shoot, I wish my hands are that graceful when they slip. Usually it just means a broken cup or something
Jk
I’ll try to analyze Zeus in a similar manner but I think I was able to do that because I already have a bias in favor of Poseidon (and I actually want him to be a half-decent parent to my MC) haha
Also, that’s a mighty fine dominatr… erm, leather harness outfit your MC is wearing
That’s bloody awesome!..and I mean no offense but when I saw it I just thought “straight outta Fifty Shades.”
Is that why you told us to mark June 14?
Duuuuude, I feel you! Everytime I just wonder: Did I say something right? And which of the things were it?! -Nervously reading everything I tipped again-
It’s just the official birthday of the MC. And Aeson…And probably Saint, too…That will be a huge party.
I also have a slight bias for Poseidon… maybe because he is the only dad I can get if I don’t want to be a murderer. (That won him a lot of points with my MC’s unwavering moral compass). Maybe because he is débonnair (traduction would be something like good/calm/benevolent), and straightforward and awkward with MC.
The leather harness was the closest to a badass leather armor. Also the world better get use to the whole dominance by MC show, because that’s how the chips are going to fall.
