Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

My character has a lot the connection in the jewels of Saint… she hates him and have zero connection with him like she is at 10% . She was just send because your protection was weak and they detected you like that happen previously and this they just they sent the best people because they were DESESPERATE for having you before the trials. If he had essence you really think no one including Aeson would known??? Yeah we are gods and indoctrinated him since baby also had blood and all healers and magic studies and controls having account he is your blood he would be consistent controlled since baby. Your powers appeared just as child without control so you don’t think with all the training to death and danger he won’t developed them in any moment. My character just burned a cheerleader who insult her lol. Imagine if there were a real threat. So in my opinion that have zero sense at all.

@Tree

I’d like to think at least half of the Twelve gave their Demigod children a relatively normal life before taking them to Olympus to train their powers.

And hey, regular hide-and-seek is perfect training for Seekers (now if only the Gods would stop giving them black hooded outfits since it makes it look like a cult is following unknown Demigods everywhere).

Oh my god. That backlog :)) [still reading but might as well reply because I got excited for the MBTI question]

Is it too late to MBTI? Last post I read was about MBTI’s so jumping off from there:

I’m actually an INTJ, though for my two main children, I haven’t quite decided/haven’t really made them take the test. I think though Nadia (from my main Adonis file) might be an ENFJ, while Sophia (Aeson file) would probably be INFJ.

Will probably double check when I have more time on my hands – I just started summer vacation, but been swamped with internship related things //adulting is horrible 0/10 would not recommend

@mirenity , Saint is pretty much confirmed to be your brother. And yes please join the
Aeson and/or Adonis fan club :)) I’m so invested in them as characters, it’s not funny :((

Yay, another INTJ. Welcome to the club.

And my main MC is almost definitely either an ENFJ/ENFP: one of the two, but she’s much more likely to be an ENFJ once I weigh it all up, but one of the major departures is that she enjoys a fight. She doesn’t like instigating them which I guess would be more indicative of her personality, but when she’s in one she loves it and loves being a warrior.

And good luck with the interning. Hopefully it won’t cause too much emotional distress in the future.

So the Essence during the hibernation phases? Maybe?

I mean I’m pretty sure where their soul goes during that times will be important? …Maybe the twist is that no matter what the Essence is bound to that place, so in the end it’s not only the detoriation of the mortal body that kills them but that the soul gets called back after some time? Or this urge to leave the body to go back deteriorates the body. So maybe the times the Bearer could live longer as 19 years was not because they had some strong willpower or anything but because that call was delayed for whatever reason. I could be some kind of safety meassure from Cronus to avoid the Essence to side with the gods/becoming too powerful and immortal. So in the end immortality is as long out of question as long as the Essence is bound to the place it’s hold during it’s hibernation…So Mc is fucked anyway.

Maybe Cronus will try to bargain with MC/Aeson because of this and no matter what, one will change sides to - in the long run - save their lifes. (or just to try trick Cronus (in Aeson’s case maybe)?)

@RanchoJoe, the between is Chaos the Younger, they personify the gap between the underworld and Earth.

But @Rohie, did Kronos kill all the Titans? If he did that means he killed Hellios, Selene, Hecate, Prometheus, Epimetheus, the mothers of the Fates and Muses, and Victory. Also Metis, Athena’s mother.

Interesting about this in the dreams is that even when the prophecy says it’s the Essence to blame, they are not the one directly killing the doves…It’s the people they dream about, well at least two of them.
And while Saint when the MC doesn’t trust them indeed blames them, and Calypso is in silent murder mood, when you have a good relationship with them the doves still die and also not directly by MC’s hand…And the people you dream about are rather…wistful? As if they would know it can’t be changed? Something that has to be done?

If the MC/Aeson still are to blame it seems rather indirect through others…maybe because those others try to save MC’s life? And that’s the ones who “choose their kismets love”?

Maybe it’s really enough for MC to be alive to end the world. And the divide is not just the upcoming war but moreso the conflict between those that want MC dead and those that want to save their live…
Nike is a Titan, yet she fought with Zeus and the original Olympians. Nike aka Victory, cannot be won without sacrifices, hard choices, she does not give out participation trophies, you either win, or you lose. The Fates are also impartial, once the events start to click, they’ll weave it in certain ways to prevent direct divine intervention, unless you want to make it worse than it already is.

Okay thanks for the clarification :))

Omg haha it’s you  I’ve been a long time lurker of CoG, it’s been about four years since I played my first game but this topic finally lead me to creating an account to join in. I’ve been on the thread a couple of times and I found myself more often that not constantly agreeing with a lot of what you had to say :’) So when you replied to my comment I had this like “omg it’s them” moment… Aeson&Adonis fanclub here we come lol. I become so emotionally invested in characters, it’s ridiculous. I really value characters within storylines, probably more so than the actual narrative at times. :relaxed:

Let me join you in the depth… with my neverending love for Aeson!

Do we know that the Essence actually hibernates? Maybe as soon as they die they are reborn! Jumping from one mortal body to another, unceasingly. How else would the gods know when they would be fit to be reborn as demi-gods to fit their plans?
Because obviously they do not recognize us, cannot feel us in our mortal forms, as seen by the conversation with Aphrodite!

Also I run out of likes… I didn’t even know that was a thing! Why is that even a thing? :expressionless:

Once the Bearer dies, so does the Bestower (and vice versa), and their sources both go into a deep slumber until they are reincarnated into new hosts.

Maybe they don’t go into slumber after every life, but it seems to be a thing. I wonder what makes a body suitable as host…

The gods could know when they will be reborn from various sources, either seers, oracles or the time between reborns is just that stable.

(And I feel your pain about the running out of likes. It’s annoying. I think members and regulars get more llikes per day)

So Aeson and The MC give plot armor or death to each other?

And you believe they go in slumber where then? Tartarus?
Perhaps another plane, where gods, monsters and humans cannot reach?

I doubt it’s Tartarus, otherwise Cronus would have tried something already, no?

(This is ridiculous and way too upsetting!:smirk: I need more likes. They serve to show approval and appreciation! There can never be enough!)

We don’t know where they go into slumber. I feel that’s a plot point.

MC can even ask Aeson about his opinion, but he gets cut off before he can answer.

That’s a really good question! I never really pondered on how the Gods would know they could give birth to the BB(Bearer/Bestower).
I imagine they probably used whatever Essence they had in them as bait! In the flashback, MC can feel a thread that links them to Paris. It could be the fact that their souls are intertwined, or simply the fact that they can feel an affinity to the Essence.

I do hope that we can have a conversation to ask those questions. With Aeson preferably. With Nephlim would be enjoyable too! I am kind of eager to see that guy again. He was very phlegmatic and snarky, and i loved it!

It also could be something about the mothers that birth the Bestower/Bearer, though by now it’s seems more as if Priscilla’s position is the only unique here and I wonder why. (Tell me Nephlim! I know you probably knew her!)

The baiting with a part of the Essence could be true. Seeking unconsciously completition, at least of the active energy. That may be the reason why in the end only one is wielding the Essence and not both, the Bearer and the Bestower.

…Maybe that also had really some side-effects on the one person sharing a womb with the Bearer…If Priscilla is not white haired it maybe was our fault that his hair got bleached. (eh, nothing I would complain about to be honest. It probably looks great anyway)

I think I’m up to speed now. Last post before I head off to do intern things:

@Sammysam for the longest time I’ve been trying to figure out that part of the prophecy ( the kismet part ). We’ve more or less have the first part down, but struggling with the rest of it (aka I need more information omfg Rohie look what you’ve done).

@mirenity, that’s incredibly sweet of you! I’m actually at a loss of how to reply (for the first time HAHA). No seriously, I’m actually blushing right now and…yes. I’m running out of words.

@Nyxerie, of course! The more the merrier :)) I’m actually pretty interested in if it’s possible to get the very vanilla/cliche of happily ever after. I mean, I want Sophia to be able to ride into the sunset – maybe with explosions in the background – with her boyfriend intact and live happily ever after. The poor dear has suffered enough, it’s time for her to be happy >:C

Also in speaking of Sophia, I’ve doodled her if anyone wants to see //slinks back away because I haven’t drawn in ages so everything is super rough/I have no idea how to draw teens (and dimples) and blah

(under the spoiler because not sure how anyone feels about images)

Don’t we? I thought this line:

“‘The Bearer is among the living once again’. The King of Gods thinks to himself.”

meant there are periods in time when the Bearer and Bestower go into hibernation. The fact that Zeus decides to use and trigger the conception of the children also made it sound like he has some power on just when/how often the Bearer and Bestower would be born.

…but then that means the birth of Paris and Lavei at the time of the Trojan War was no accident.

Or maybe Zeus meant that this is the first time in a while, if not ever, that the Bearer has been born as a a demigod?

I also thought about that possebility…Maybe the gods can influence that pattern, maybe that’s one thing they could find out from Cronus, but I don’t think that automatically would mean that the Essence only gets reborn when the gods decide it, but they maybe can influence the rebirth pattern? (What may be one of the reasons that some of the incarnations of the MC life longer than the others, because they were previously reborn in a very short ammount of time, so the pattern got disturbed or something). So sometimes they just trigger the Essence rebirth to influence important incidents? That would take a little bit of chance out of the whole deal with the Bearer/Bestower getting reborn just as they gods prepare for the upcoming war…however it also could just be: Destiny said so.

Still doesn’t mean that every rebirth of the Essence has to be triggered by the gods. Otherwise them showing up and potentially destroying the gods in one of their lifes wouldn’t be something to fear for the gods. They just could try to let them slumber. So I guess if the have controll over the rebirth circle it’s limited. Maybe because of lack of knowledge or just the nature of the Essence as being the most powerful thing in the universe.

That also would mean that the Gods still know more about the Essence and the rebirth circle as they want to tell MC. Not that this would be suprising. Withholding important information is a good way to manipulate people. And the gods want to manipulate MC.

Though the easiest explenation would really be that it’s the decision to let them be reborn as demigod (for the first time ever as far as we know, btw). But who wants simple answers when it coud be complex? Complex makes things funny when trying to figure the answer out on your own.

But it still doesn’t change that we don’t know in what place the hibernation takes place. It’s probably the same place Cronus did hide the Essence originally…
