So do we get to see Gabriel’s face if we romance him? I’m curious :ok_man: :ok_man: :ok_man:

Not really. He is quite ‘keeping us in the dark’. Literally:)

Thank you very much  I took a couple of days of rest and I’m starting to feel good already. Warm tea really does work it’s magic.

There’s going to be a great divide between the FBI route and the Archangel route in Book 2. This will be a great challenge to write… I love me a good challenge. I plan on making sure that there are sections for people of all preference. Those who hate The Archangels, those who hate The FBI, those who love both, and those in between.

Sure. This will also help me gauge interests and how the amount of people who are going through which route.

  • FBI: True Cop (Stayed an informant)
  • FBI: Informant (criminal turned informant)
  • Archangel: Bad cop (informant turned criminal)
  • Archangel: True criminal/Vigilante (Stayed a criminal)

Ohh… people really love to play bad guys these days. Same with the other games.

It isn’t that everyone wants to be a bad guy, it is just that there aren’t anymore good guys.

You deserve a rest, you knocked the game out of the park, and the update seems to be great too.

FBI Update

I haven’t had the time to replay the game in full, so I took a glance at just the code for the FBI scene updates. From that, I can say that it seems like a marked improvement in terms of tone and in setting up a hook for the next game.

In particular, however, I find the emotional conflict the PC/Player has over potentially ratting out their crew and Mouse, and the potential implications that has, particularly compelling. In general, the theme appeared to be playing with the PC’s connections with the Archangels, which makes sense, though in comparison I don’t think the PC’s loyalty to the Establishment was ever played on to that extent while under cover (mostly keeping cover appeared to be for self-preservational reasons). That said, I look forward to see how the FBI PC’s relations with their former crew will be developed. I would really like to be able to subvert the Archangels and pull the PC’s former crew out, but I also like the tragic aspect of it.

Salazar got his place in the sun, which sets him up well for the next game - I assume he’ll be a relatively notable part of the FBI route, at the very least. Both him and Reville getting more characterisation were sorely needed, in my opinion: the FBI had markedly less characterisation (which makes sense, as the PC was undercover), which may have discouraged remaining an informant. I imagine a significant part of the appeal of the Archangels was due to players developing an attachment to the Archangels, and taking the FBI route would fray at that attachment. Now you’ve got Reville and Salazar (and House if she’s alive), so you don’t have to be dropped in at the deep end with new characters and roles when starting the FBI route of the next game.

The kidnapping of Flowers directly from the hospital under the FBI/PD’s noses was a good nod towards the Archangel route, and a glimpse at their capabilities and reach for players who solely play FBI loyalist.

I think it’s liberating for the FBI PC to be able to make a consequential choice over whether they rat out their crew, and any prior investigations into the Trio will nicely link up into the uncloaked FBI PC’s route. The involvement of the “other agencies” (I guess that guy Reville met was an NSA/CIA guy) appears to be an escalation of Reville’s efforts, and I wonder whether the FBI PC can attempt to counteract Reville potentially going into more shady routes (you can already refuse VAM support) as a parallel to how they could try and subvert Michael and Gabriel.

I find it rather amusing, all things considered, that the FBI PC, of all of them, potentially has the most choice and can make the largest long-term difference, in this game at least, compared to their criminal peers.

The FBI definitely ending isn’t as hopeless as it was before. It’s still bleak, though (they’re losing the war, and have only pulled off a single pyrrhic victory), and I think that still works and is appropriate. Looking forward to see how that goes!

i haven’t played the updated version. Probably won’t. Wait for the next game in few years. But I am glad to know that there is some positive changes. Also, since FBI MC was doing work for archangels, all the glory was going to them. In the next game, there is going to be two major side. Archangels as well as FBI will have to share the world for the time being.

I’m really looking forward to both the informant and the vigilante/criminal routes! I found both of the paths super interesting in this one, so a diverged path in the next one sounds really cool

I was wondering if you romance Gabriel but stay with the FBI, will the next game remember they used to be in love or are they going to have the same story then the regular FBI guy? I do love a good enemy to lover to enemy back to lover dynamic

Interesting how massive the difference is between the amount of players who went with FBI, only 15%. I would’ve thought it would’ve been at least slightly more even.

Have this current version of the game a save option in the end??

No. The save option will only be available once Book 2 have entered the publishing queue.

That’s a shame. Thanks for the quick response.

That’s actually pretty accurate even in reality. There are only few good people there in the world. Compared to them there are massive number of bad people.

Yes, you can, and they will remember. There will be consequences, but you definitely can.

I made the same poll a few months ago, and the answer is still the same, apparently.

I do believe in that statement, though I never intended there to be a true “good or bad” when it comes to which route you pick. You could be a criminal, and still hold morals as a vigilante. A good person, at least, for your own perspective. You could also be a cop, slowly disregarding your sense of justice only to be consumed by the need for revenge.

Different paths lead to different places, but it’s your path, your choice and consequences. You can do good, or bad, no matter which path you’re on. Some people enjoy doing good, some enjoy being bad. One thing that we all know for sure, is that The Outfit and The Unity Cartel are horrible people.
