Nice I feel like their aren’t enough female focused games.
I’ve always felt that way too
Hmm… I’m intrigued.
Do whatever feels right, but I think if you only/mostly want to write women…write women. Writing these things seems hard enough (can’t really speak from experience yet) without something as big as character gender being done reluctantly. Just my opinion. Looking forward to what you’ve got!
The second character will be Female then. It fits into the story nicely, and will make for a nice surprise later on!
Some quick info on the stat page I have made:
Stats are altered by unlocking different Traits. These are essentially skills and abilities you pick up through choice.
Personality type will be logged throughout the story, and changes depending on your choices. This changes the way others interact with your character, and offers alternate dialogue depending on your standing.
While the starting apparel is locked, clothing can be changed at various scenes throughout the story. It changes some dialogue and relationship stats, so it is essential to keep an eye on. This is logged under Appearance.
Character customization is locked at the start, but certain alteration options do take place during different scenes.
There is a locked section having to do with your mark. A portion of it is unlocked in the second chapter.
More to come!
What’s it locked on? (Besides gender. I mean like, is the MC a specific type of lady: i.e short, freckled, brunette, blah blah.)
Wait so the second installed is now gender locked to female too?
The characters physical appearance is not a choice, and is a set description. There are several instances where you have options to alter minor aesthetic details concerning physical appearance. There is a chapter where, for certain reasons, the character must alter her hair. Another chapter has an opportunity to receive a tattoo, if the appropriate choices are selected.
But for the most part, there will not be a choice to alter physical appearance.
As for the second part, it will be gender locked as well. I hope that doesn’t curb too much interest!
They aren’t going to make me cut my hair off, are they?
Sorry I have been gone for so long without any updates, or anything playable for that matter. Although I haven’t been able to post updates, I have been plugging away for quite some time so some content will be made available very soon hopefully. I am taking my time, and enjoying the process!
A brief update:
Both genders will be playable. While the plot and setting remain the same, each gender has it’s own story. One character marked with the curse, and the other on a mission to hunt the curse down.
The multiple kingdoms have been removed from this game for length reasons.
I’m looking forward to a push of a demo live.
Yay!
So is the male mc the older/younger/twin brother of the female one, and why would he want to hunt down the origins of her mark? Wasn’t she just born with it? Or will we be able to choose which gender gets the cursed mark?
In any case is that mark really a curse,I mean it means they get taken away from their family, possibly including the other gendered character, but taken away to life of wealth and comfort, while the rest of them presumably remain dirt-poor commoners.
Of course for many of my characters losing their freedom would be a curse, but a significant part of that is that I usually play gay characters and nobility most often means forced marriage to a girl.
The other part would be how the people they’re surrounded with in their “new” lives actually treat them with worse treatment usually causing resentment and worse outcomes.
If there is no talk of forced opposite-sex marriages and the new people around them are generally decent then I could see them adjusting, since it is after all a comfortable new life.
Hey, always nice to be able to play either genders.
It won’t necessarily be that your character doesn’t like the lifestyle. It could be the opposite, and you find yourself in agreement with the way the kingdom conducts itself. A life above common trivialities and hardships, living the cushy life behind wealth and influence. The conflict wont necessarily lie in that aspect.
Yes, you are born with a mark that forms during childhood. There is a sort of religion, and deep history behind the marks that is lectured about in game to your character.
The game starts when you and your family notices silver markings on your arm. You are sent to a ministry of sorts to learn how to use your mark. Without going into detail, this is the point in the game where you run into problems. Your character becomes a villain of sorts. This is the story of the female playable character.
As for the other playable character. He has no relations to the female character. Each character is gender locked, but you have the option to play the story behind either of them. They each have a role in this tale, and give a different perspective towards the same story. Now choosing character 1 will mean character 2 is NPC. You cant control them both at once. So in a way the game is still gender locked, but you have options.
Sorry if I typed too much lol. I am interested in telling a story from two different perspectives, so that is why I chose to make the second character playable. I ended up really liking that character and his story so I kind of rolled with it. That and I wanted to see what the end result of playing through with a different viewpoint would be like.
