@jvcruz my last two playthroughs i have played the more merciful MC an you havent failed to elicit emotions lol i like the variations youve put forward even if they all lead to the same destination. Now i think will half to play a ruthless type to see how it changes

Will there be options to backstab the new spouse and destroy their empire? I dearly hope so.

@jvcruz got a chance to play a more ruthless like path not entirly sure if it was as ruthless as was posible in stat increases or the style of ruthless i invision for my character. Not saying it wasnt good and enjoyable because it was lol just kinda like this vague nagging thoughts in my head right now.

Looking forward to what you next give us for the two paths i have going right now. :: snickers :: i have this feeling some people might not survive but through the grace of god at this rate and havent even met the other side lol

Absolutely! Full disclosure: this game can be played as a tragedy just as well as it can be played as an inspiring story of overcoming PTSD. If you’re familiar with the genre of tragedy, keep in mind that one of its most common themes is the cycle of vengeance and its tolls. It’s a favorite theme of mine. :smiling_imp: But it might not be to everyone’s taste.

That said, I don’t plan to blindside anyone. If you’re making choices that go down the tragic path, the game will make it pretty evident, and there will be opportunities to back out if you prefer a more hopeful story.

In a way, that is kind of intentional at this point. For the purposes of the prologue, I’m more having the options there to build the MC’s traits and not to make choices with lasting consequences.

That said, feedback like this is very valuable. If you continue down the ruthless path for one of your playthroughs and still feel like something’s missing (or if it starts feeling jarring between the prologue and later chapters), please let me know! Thank you very much for your continued input. :heartpulse:

Oh, I never shared this here but I have a snippet I wrote for a more ruthless/persistent MC who refuses to back down from refusing to marry the emperor/empress. This will make it in a future update of the prologue.

Warning: This scene contains pretty heavy examples of emotional abuse from the king, so read at your own discretion! You can read it here.

I enjoyed that. I can certainly envision a character who could refuse in this way (I might play that character eventually, if I feel I can handle it, lol) and my initial impression of everyone’s reaction to the refusal is that is feels very believable and consistent with the characters so far. Nice!

Ohh, you make it really easy to hate the bastard.

I’m definitely go revenge path. He’ll see this idea was the worst thing he’s ever come up with…

Funnily enough boldness in my ruthless path was even higher than ruthleness so if that makes it in likely would end up being the second option of the snippet that i would see…buttttt if went that far well i would death is back on the menu boys… good thing not there yet but knowing the mind set oh i can defintly see it getting there even in a more merciful playthrough. For it hints at other things and makes me question this so called peace even more.

Tbh I won’t be surprised if I end up feeling like the other side was right since MCs family sucks so much. I mean, hell, if they treat MC this way, who knows how they treat everyone else?!

In my opinion both side sucks, both is gray and questionable at time, both is not enemy, they have their own interest.

One thing for sure if we want progress, development and good thing there need to be lasting peace, enough blood has been spilled it is time to recuperate and lick the wound, better just cut losses don’t get trapped in cost sunk fallacy.

Considering it was are father who startrd the war a war that has lasted 12 years an how he is or seems to be with the various MC types let alone anyone else. Then we are going to need a suitable reason across the various MC types to even want to help the kingdom.

As to the empire we practiacly as players and MCs know nothing of it so i dont even consider them gray. At this time if anything they simply exist an were our enemy a enemy who has very real reasons not to like us at the jump no matter the play style.

So im going to be curious as to how the author unfolds the story.

From roleplay perspective after fighting them for years losing countless men and woman under your command because of them you think it’s realistic to think that way?

From player perspective sure you can think that way but in MC’s perspective after getting stuck in protracted battle for so long it matter little to who start the fight.

I’d say it depends on your character?

Different MCs different perspectives same as in real life the one constant is that no matter what as characters and players we know our father started the war. Now to the reasons why? Thats something we dont know hence why im looking forward to what the author unfolds for us.

Ngl, I first read the title as Betrothed, and I was scrolling today when I realized it says Bethroned. But I liked the story so far.

That’s the problem, author states that you don’t have free will, you’re just a drone, made, conditioned and raised that way as cog in the machine, you never question the kingdom and the decision making. You’re raised all you know all your world is this.

Yes you will develop your own character later, you will slowly regain your self determination and independence but as for now in this stage you have none.
