Mid October 2024 Progress
Hello everyone,
We are already halfway through October. Progress on Before the Incident is going steady. We are about 40k words into the update. The goal is 100k words by December 1st. Realistically, I do not think I will be able to finish all of Act 2, but c’est la vie.
Here are the planned items for the December 1st Update:
Quality of Life
- Act skip [Skip the prologue and Skip Act 1]
- POV Switch Indicator [Toggle that indicates if there is a POV switch in the story]
Further Romance Archetypes/Choices
- Further Integration of the Unspoken Route [If you had feelings for A, but never admitted them]
- New Mechanic, Hollow Flirting [Flirt with others with a charming façade despite past relationships. At most it’s harmless and non-committal. This will be implemented starting the prologue]
- Small Jealousy Scenes if you flirt too many times
Story Content (Subject to Change)
- Short hangouts with A, Syo, or Tenth
- A Perilous Mission in the Phae Desert
- A Unique Meeting depending on your Contract
- Fun Spooky Content (?)
- A Strange Visit
- Specific Mission Based off your Contract [Most likely will be incomplete]

Is ib a romance option, The something appealing about a morally void neurotic genius obsessing over you.
I can see it now, someone like her could never see ally as a equal probably assuming that they are parasitizing her which could be infered from the high school memory.
As a adversary though you prove your worth to her. She underestimated you and you beat her at her game causing a perception shift.
Even years later instead of outright killing you she pulls you into her world. Trying to hurt you certainly, but I would guess out of boredom and missing a challenge.
I think foundation there for a romance.

I did think about this…if Ib were to be an RO, it would be approached much more differently compared to other RO’s. Like it would be a mutually self-destructive relationship where the other tries to tear apart the other into a downward spiral of spite and revenge. Like a twisted obsession. But if people were interested in that type of dynamic, I would not be opposed to writing something like that!

Isn’t Ib already pretty much having the twisted obsession or was it more to just claim superiority to mc instead? Got a mix of both tbh with that madman.

It’s a little both, but I guess the ‘romance’ would be the MC realizing they’re equally as obsessed with the idea of revenge and they spiral along with Ib in an endless back and forth until one or both are dead. It was one of the darker endings I was brainstorming for the story. 
It’s pretty difficult for me to have Ib and MC be seen in a conventional romantic relationship

Hmm I suggest dark endings get possibly worse depending on what occurs like if Ib dies mc goes a bit nuts cuz they lose that whole toxic Target of Revenge thing with Ib no longer there… if Ib wins he possibly enslaves the world with nobody to get in his way and if both die the world or town is no longer livable after the large battle between the two.

@Revan_Alek_Shan Ohh, I do like alternative dark endings. Definitely, something I will keep in mind! 
@Alvin_Chi1 Yes! A/B is an official/serious RO. The reason why there’s question marks in the flirt options is because it’s unintentional flirting from the MC, since the MC is not initially attracted to AB in that way. It will most likely end with either party realizing their feelings and having a big confession scene

Honestly, I would take what I can get, I have always like the crazy, rivel, or dark romances. Where there is a great potential for hate the opposite is true as well, the line between love and hate is thinner then most think. Too few authers develop their stories in this way. I like branching stories with several ending, and I like the same in romances. I dont necessarily want to see a good ending for ib romance, just an ending that doesn’t end in her death.
This topic reminds me the question in your story, can evil become better and can good become evil. Ib isnt a true psychopath because there is emotion there, could she be persuaded to be good, I think is a long shot. I think realistically you could make her more open-minded for lack of a better word, you would bleed alot for ib as a romance option just to come to an understanding.
I don’t know this story will turn, some stories allow you switch sides which could open a more accessible ib romance, butthat doesn’t seem to be a choice in this game.
Mmmh wow now that makes me excited cos thats the RO that got me very satisfied and excitedfor the next update …can’t wait

Can you use the Arbiter on yourself? Cause if so, that would definitely be broken, like if you need to break or move something heavy. You can just convince yourself that you’re stronger than you should, through motivating yourself or self hypnosis.
