What about a mountanius?
What is a mountanius? Never heard of it before
Imagine a mountain standing up into the shape of a human, it can control the earth, sea, sky. And lives forever since its a mountain unless it gets destroyed by being smashed to piece
I’ll consider having that as a legendary beast! That’ll be an interesting story to produce…
It’s a hell of a beast
It sure sounds like one!
I require input on something from you guys: As most people know this game offerspowers to the player when in peril, Ultima magic for Humans and Transformational abilities for Primals.
I’ve planned out 10 unique Ultima abilities, the names are: Shadow, Time, Summon, Insanity, Blood, Life, Metal, Dark Void, Imagination and Adrenaline. They all have their benefits and consequences. Just ask if you want to know more about them.
For the Transformational abilities however, i’m not sure how to go around doing them. My initial idea was to have set transformations for each species, but I felt that it lacked choice to be honest. Now i’m thinking of having different types of transformation instead, with more of a stage or level system within it.
Here’s an example:
Your a wolf dying in battle. Its coming to an end for you and your instinct kicks in. But you don’t just transform into a generic beast, but you have a choice:
You can transform into a (lets just call it stage 1) beast. For a canine, it makes you stronger faster and depending on your surroundings gives you magical attributes to both appearance and power. Its not as strong or mighty as higher stages, but has no adverse affects. However, this, for deadlier foes, may not be enough.
The other option is stage 2. For wolves this may be a Black Lycan, huge and extremely agile beasts. However, despite being able to best enemies easier than stage 1, you could end up hurting those you love, craving the power you had during your transformation. The more you use this, the higher the chances.
And then there is the final stage. This one will transform you into an extremely mighty beast, but had heavy consequences. You’ll find that although this will almost certainly save your life, to much may end up with this beast in control of you instead. Stage 3 is definitely a power crazed monster.
Using this method, there will be 30 transformations available for primals, offering 3 stages for each species category. What do you think of the method though? It offers more variety, but I don’t want to implement it and nobody likes it.
I like it but I don’t think I would like it where you lose control because then you could he destroying cities and stuff so I would have stages but don’t add posing control, what are they other’s?
@HolyKnight124 Yeah, that was my Gripe with it too. I want it to be more strategic in a way rather than just: You transformed and now you’ve won. If the consequence was different to losing control, say for example people fear you more if you use the higher stages more frequently? I just feel as if there needs to be a balanced benefit and risk factor with the later stage if I was to use that method.
Or, we could do it a different way. You transform to a different stage depending on your emotions. Anger would result in the blood-lusting savage transformations, whereas calmness would result in the Stage 1 equivalents. I could do a different Transformational Form for every emotion for every species, which would be cool. Then it would be a matter of if you don’t want to end up going crazy, go the safe option and calm yourself down, or take the chance to get back at those angering you.
You know what, that actually sounds like a better system, despite the large amount of coding that would take. But oh well, I wouldn’t mind doing it.
Which one would you prefer? Emotion, or just choose out of three and hope for the best?
@BlazedStorm I was writing a story and faced a similar problem, this is how I managed to get around it.
You have two options Power or Sanity:
Each time you become more powerful you become more instinctive and dangerous but at a cost of your sanity.
Straying from the path to power will allow you to progress the story differently, allowing you to survive along with those who do not posses the power.
It is kind of like a bounty system of sorts, if you become too powerful you will be feared and more likely for you to be attacked but staying without power can cause you to become too weak to survive some circumstances. It is a delicately balanced system.
Emotion one
Come on with the chimera!!! Nya
@Jtoomer That’s a great system, and makes me curious to know what game it was you are making?
@Storm I’ll do one based around emotions then
@darkstar2101 With over 360 hybrids to code into the Hybrid chapters, its going to take some time unfortunately. Also, you may find that it is short, when in reality its going to be larger in comparison to the other chapters. This is why i’m taking longer to increase its length further.
Thanks again to all!

I won’t be doing that again, xD. I think it’s safe to say that we are Bug Free for now. Chapter 1 Part 2 is coming towards completion, so I look forward to putting that out. As for Hybrid Chapter 1 though, that’ll definitely take longer. Sorry!

I think I like the ideas of the emotion- like if you’re getting beat bad and on brink of death if you get angry you hulk out, but I think to put a restraint on the power you could give a stage 3 less tactical options, and a stage 1 more tactics
@ChimeraLord That’s the way i’m going to do it, but without the stages now. There will be numerous emotions that alter the transformation instead, but on the similar basis of the stages. With anger as the emotion, you will become a horrifying beast, but you’ll find that you end up charging at the enemy without thinking much about the situation. Sacrificing tactical advantages for power, in the same way you described
Edit: An hour prolonged double post…this phone is messed up xD
I’ll just say something on topic, I’ve realised that I seem to have put more into the Blood Hound branch than any other during the next part. I apologise fire this, but I’ll make sure the other branches get more attention in chapter 2!
@BlazedStorm With my game… Lets just say you aren’t the only one doing a massive project. It is going to be close to an RPG style with a combat system I’ve been working on and from my current draft it will branch off into 12 different story lines. I’m thinking of trying to get it hosted when/if I finish it.
@Jtoomer that sounds like a massive project indeed! I do hope you host it so I could give it a shot
Creating a combat system sounds like a lot of work, but it would be interesting to see it in a choice game. In this game, I an too going for a kind of rpg, but mine will become more of an open world adventure rather than combat based.
Without spoiling anything, lets just say that when you finish the main prologue in chapter 8, you’ll be introduced to the full world I’ve been creating and you have been sculpting…
Since hybrids cannot transform how does the emotion stat tie in with them?
@BlazedStorm I will probably just put it up on the forum eventually then work to getting it hosted. The game is divided into four choices (I have got two of them in progress and no idea what to do for the other two.) Then each of those choices will divide off into others that will lead to different stories.
