Following the forum is difficult for me to do, which is why I want to do it on Tumblr where I am personally capable of moderating and responding to people. I have a reason that I do things and thank you for your feedback, but I have already decided where I want to have this conversation.
I understand that it’s difficult as an author to not get much attention on your stories but I do feel like you’re getting discouraged just because of how the forums work here. All WIP threads lose traction between updates, even on the most popular WIPs, and the Tumblr is always more engaging simply because of the anonymous Q&A structure of it. I don’t think the forum is limiting you at all—I actually think sticking with CS would bring you more profit in the long run if you get some private beta testers and then submit to Hosted. Just because the forum isn’t super active doesn’t mean you don’t have an excited audience here!
But of course this is your own game and at the end of the day, if you think it’s best to drop CS then go ahead. Obviously you prefer your tumblr over the forum so do what you think is best
Just know that I really enjoy your game and so do other users on the forum, even if we’re not as active.
The author has iterated multiple times In this thread that they do not wish to have this conversation on the forums. Please respect their wishes on this matter moving forward. Thank you!
I appreciate your support and the issue is not to do with the attention I’m getting, which is why I wanted to have the discussion on my blog so I could organize my thoughts in one single place so misinformation on the topic would not circulate, which happened when people posted on here without realizing or specifically rejecting my request for them to not do so. Another thing about the forums that had not endeared it to me.
Regardless of what I decide, I would not destroy the game and never develop it again, and I encourage people who only play CoG to keep in mind that at the same time I may limit myself by not using CoG, it is equally limiting for users to not seek out any other media for whatever reason.
Now as stated below by @rinari (and thank you so much for your post, a deep breath of fresh air), I am not going to discuss this on the forum.
I’m weak for demon
You’re in good company

Reviving the thread so it doesn’t close on me.
Yay! I want my demon
Tahira’s up next to update, but he’s lurking

Hi,
If the thread got close, you could ask any of the moderators to unlock the thread for you once you’re ready.
Why you tease me ? More nibbling please from my hot demon, even if he is trying to kill me
Thanks for letting me know !! Big relief tbh

AAAA this is so good! I love this, I love Siruud, and I really hope this doesn’t end up discontinued! I love your writing and the humour and! All of it!
Hello, I enjoyed the game so far, but I had to pop in to ask; Why “Korean man”? East Asians look slightly different on average, sure, but not to the point that most people can say “Oh he’s Korean/Japanese/Chinese” when it comes to individuals. Siruud is a demon, so if he’s taken the form of a “Korean man” I have to assume he’s either taken the form of a Korean man that exists and thus it can’t be contended that his nationaility and/or heritage is Korean, or he made sure the genetics were specifally “Korean” and informed MC as such.
I really think having the freedom to customize Siruud’s human appearance would be great, but Hey! I can’t say no to a smexy and steaming hot korean guy.
Siruud isn’t imitating a person that exists necessarily, but he tend to take inspiration from people he’s known or met or heard of, etc. He really has no way to “pretend” at being human except to look around, you know? And when he takes a human form, they aren’t random: he interacts with other humans under these kind of pseudonym characters, so he’s built up the character of John Park over the course of several years to better “blend in” as a human.
I didn’t necessarily mean to imply either that the MC could tell by looking or that Siruud has that much minutiae control over his human forms. Honestly it’s mostly a cue for the reader rather than anyone in the story. I look over sensitivity writing blogs and they seem to agree that rather than leaving things up for interpretation with regards to appearance, since some will misunderstand or purposefully misinterpret, sometimes it was preferable to just use cues that the reader must read a particular way.
If you think I should take a different route, let me know! And thanks for bringing it up.
Oh he’s way too vain to let someone else decide how he looks
glad you’re liking his route !!
This is my ace-brain talking here, so hopefully I haven’t stepped in anything by putting it like this, but… I don’t have to be interested in Tahira as an RO to greatly enjoy her route. The sparring match? Fun! Getting to potentially meet a secret witch coven? Awesome! You’re really making both paths worthwhile, and I can’t wait to see how both play out to completion.
I also really look forward to more overlap scenes to see how they play out differently depending on who you’re with.
Well Tahira’s route will have an element of romance of course but you won’t have to sit through a sex scene if you don’t want to. I mean either way I don’t write sex scenes but you can consciously choose to turn down sex (in both routes!) and the RO’s will be totally chill with that. Romance, however, is inevitable purely because I’m one person with a lot on the ol’ plate so I don’t have the time to integrate a platonic route: I tried it with one of my other games and found the result to be muddy and haphazard because I didn’t have the time to really consider how I wanted to integrate it and how I wanted it to be meaningfully different from a romance. Since you said ace brain though I’m assuming you were more or less referring to the unfortunately frequently obligatory “now we have sex” portion of games that include romance?
And there’s another overlap scene coming right up !! Thanks for reading and I’m glad you’re enjoying !!
