Autumn Winds - A Pride and Prejudice adaptation (35K Words)

First of all, I’m glad you like the demo and its role-playing and replayability element. As for the points, you just reminded me that I had to fix that section, thanks!

Aside from (Dragon) Marquis MC, who are some of the richest characters in the novel?

Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Darcy, and Bingley, these in the original novel. In the demo, it remains to be seen if I introduce other wealthy characters. But I would rank them by wealth like this:

Marquess route: The MC, Darcy’s uncle (Earl of Wiltshire), Darcy, Lady Catherine, Bingley.

Gentry route: Darcy’s uncle (Earl of Wiltshire), the MC, Darcy, Lady Catherine, Bingley.

Wow! What an unexpected delight of a demo! What a stroke of genius it was to conceptualize the game around playing the part of a single man in possession of a good fortune in P&P. I love that we get to be one of the lads! Add to that the inclusion of a stats system that allows the player to customize their MC’s abilities—from dawdling to all-mighty—and you’ve created my favorite kind of IF: the kind with replayability!

I mean, yes, my favorite route is an immaculate Marquess who was raised on his grandmother’s tonic. But, you see, that’s only because I anticipate Mrs. Bennet’s reaction. My money’s on her spontaneously combusting at the prospect of one of her girls becoming a Marchioness~ I plan to romance all of the women to experience the game to its fullest, but I confess that I’m most excited for the Miss Bingley and Miss Darcy paths. Whatever may happen, I’m just happy that I get to be BFFs (and hopefully brothers-in-laws) with both Bingley and Darcy

Like others, I’m also interested in interacting with our siblings! I was going to suggest that perhaps our father had remarried after the death of our mother, to help explain away our eldest sister being at least 31 and our younger brother only 8. But I think that complicates things more than necessary… Like, is a master endurance MC—if the player sets their age to the minimum of 20—meant to have ridden from London to their mother at 7 years old? I think not. It’s probably best to either let the reader draw their own conclusions or allude to difficulties with pregnancies and/or child loss to explain the age difference. Darcy and his sister are 10 years apart, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

If you’re not open to suggestions or already have a name planned, please feel free to disregard all of the following. But if you are… may I suggest naming our younger, aristocratic brother Robert? It was a popular male name at the time and also offers the opportunity for his siblings to call him by a multitude of nicknames—Rob, Bob, Bobby, Bert, or Bertie! (I know, I know—Bertie is more recognizable as a Victorian nickname and so might be a bit anachronistic by nearly a hundred years, but how could I not suggest it when it is so cute?!)

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this WIP! Thank you for the excellent demo and best of luck with your writing!

Wow. I’m glad you like the demo both in concept and design. I think what Mrs. Bennet would do if you marry one of her daughters is never leave your property with constant visits and constantly brag to the other matrons about the marriage, especially to Mrs. Lucas.

As for the ages, let’s see, let’s see how I explain this so it makes sense in the demo… First, in the marquess route the MC’s father is dead so he didn’t remarry. What does happen is that the MC’s mother is 51 years old - she would have had her daughter at 20, then if the MC is 30, she had him a year later… The youngest child who is 8, she would have had at 43, which is plausible for a lady of the aristocracy. I still feel that any other explanation or attempt to fix the ages would lead to more gaps and holes like the issue of a stepmother or divided inheritances, plus it could add extra content related to the younger brother and the fact that he was born so late in the marriage and everything that entails.

As for names, Robert is a good name. I haven’t advanced enough yet to design all of this, but these ideas are good to have beforehand. Thanks!

If you were to make a sequel or a game set in the same universe as this game, what would be your dream settings, the inspiration of the game ( like for instance you said this game is basically Pride and Prejudice so what would the other game be?).

If I finish Autumn Winds, I wouldn’t make a sequel or another game set in the same narrative universe. Don’t confuse that with the era—the Napoleonic Wars are an excellent era for interactive games. But the universe of Autumn Winds is just that: the universe of Pride and Prejudice, as in, my adaptation of it.

You know what is disappointing nobody is making a game about Oregon trail or Tarzan and for those who do not know Tarzan is public domain character

Well… Damn, we had the same idea. I mean, it’s not the most original idea since Oregon Trail is a classic, but I had already thought about doing a project like that before archiving that idea and doing other things.

The typical Oregon Trail in Python or Twine.

Well it doesn’t have to be original as long as the storytelling is Good

True, especially if the story’s fun or the characters hit you like a train.

For the first time in the five years I’ve been lurking on this forum, I’ve never been so excited for a game like this. With so many wips popping up and immediately disappearing nowadays, I truly— and immensely—hope to see this one finished.

Do I need to read the book in order to understand this game?

Pls, How do I pick the dragon as my family’s coat of arms?

You need the Celtic surname and you need to be a Marquess

Okay. I picked Standford. But I couldn’t choose it.

You need a Celtic surname and to be a Marquess. Stanford is not a Celtic surname so the option doesn’t unlock. The Celtic surnames are: Dumnógenos, Vernómagos, Carnotórigos, Tigernacos and Ratakoi, or a custom surname.
