Hi, I’m Laderyuss and I’m creating a small adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Embark on an immersive experience set in 1811, reliving the events of the literary classic Pride and Prejudice. Under a new vision… Become the third member of Darcy and Bingley’s circle."
Play as a Marquess or landowner.
Customize your gentleman’s appearance, skills, and personality.
Experience the beautiful English countryside under the autumn of 1811.
Navigate courtship and its intricate etiquette rules with 4 ladies.
I hope I haven’t made any mistakes while creating the topic. I’ll also improve this presentation when I can in the future… yes!
I’m glad about the interest the demo has generated, especially in the Regency era beyond the classic that, I believe and assume, everyone in the West knows. My interest stems from the idea of transporting and immersing the player in the era with evocative writing that makes them imagine - as it does for me! - walking through the forests, or riding horseback, or being in a carriage while the urban scenery melts like impressionist painting, detailing the everyday life of the surroundings, with extensive agricultural plots and forests, small and mundane towns with children playing, horses and carriages, and the echo of rain against your carriage window.
If I had to define my artistic vision for Autumn Winds, it would be like an impressionist painting by Édouard Cortès, with Satie in the background.
I really like it!! the characters and the story are so good and I get carried away playing it haha.I really like choosing MC as a marquess plus with dragon heraldy and very superior to other characters not to mention the MC’s skill level can be chosen as you wish haha. Amazing work and can’t wait for next chapter
I found this very enjoyable and I can’t wait for more; also I would like to ask why does the violin of the instrument choice has more stuff to it then the piano, because during the piano sene it’s like the MC is just a very good pianist, while the violin scene is like everyone is watching gods own violinist play for mortals
I’m glad you liked it. As for the instruments, really? I thought both scenes fulfilled their function. I wrote the violin master scene after the piano one, so I added more things like poetry in quotes, like the muses, the phoenix rising from its ashes, and the duet that resembles a Greek odyssey - the violin scene has all this because I wrote it afterwards. Moreover, the tones of the melodies are different: in the violin scene, the MC plays Bach’s Chaconne, which is a melancholic melody, or at least that’s how it seems to me, which makes everyone impressed and causes Louisa to cry. In contrast, in the pianoforte scene, the MC in his extravagance plays a melody composed by himself - one that, due to his skill, is different. If I’m not mistaken, the dialogue mentions this - that it doesn’t follow the conventional guidelines of the continent, meaning Mozart, Beethoven, etc… The point is that in the pianoforte scene he plays something modern, and that’s why his friends don’t react the same way. Yes, they recognize his prodigy when playing, but they don’t empathize with the melody, which is strange to their sensibilities.
Yes, she is Sir William Lucas’s daughter, which might make one think she’s above the Bennets, but the problem lies in the fact that she’s 27 and still hasn’t married, plus she’s not attractive, and while she possesses a certain intelligence based on pragmatism, a romance with Charlotte doesn’t make sense - that’s why in the original novel she marries Collins out of pure desperation. I know that nowadays if a woman isn’t married at 27, well, it doesn’t matter, it’s her life, but in the Regency era it was terrible both for her and for her family.
Playing as a Marquess doesn’t make you a god - playing with all stats and attributes at 6-Master does, but that falls on the player’s decision. As I put in the character customizer, I wanted to give total freedom to the player to choose whatever they want. If playing with everything at 6 seems exaggerated to you, you can play as an average Joe with everything at 3-normal, or vary the stats and see what happens, how far my foresight and creativity reach.
That doesn’t take away from the fact that I’m going to maintain the etiquette of the era as rigorously as possible. This could lead to events where they treat the marquess as a superior being because… well, that’s practically how it was to a certain extent.
Yeah I mean I didn’t mean it in a bad way but you’re right it seems much more historically accurate in that sense and you’ve also detailed the wealth and income stat. To what extent will those be utilised ?
Sorry, I don’t think him being a Sir would have helped much in luring a Marquess. Her father happens to have been knighted and he’s landed gentry, but the knighthood isn’t inheritable by his kin. He doesn’t have a title, he’s not a Lord, and not a member of the peerage.
