On a scale of nine to ten, how much do you like pugs?
-1 and solely on the existence of Frank the Pug in Men in Black who I find annoying.
Oh well, nobody’s perfect.
Tali’zorah vas Normandy is very perfect.
It would have been a 9/10 for any dog. But for Pugs they have to be punished for Frank which is a -10 to there rating.
How are you so amazing at writing?
(I haven’t yet read your second book but I do remember reading Unntural season one and I went “NOOOOOOOOOOO I CAN’T WAIT!” and proceeded to bawl my eyes out (Quite literally)
My question is how many velociraptors do you think it would it take to beat a grizzly bear
I spent years meditating in a dark cave in the middle of a mysterious forest surrounded by all manner of fairies and fae,
More serious less cool answer practice, practice and practice, read, write and read again!
exactly three one to lure the bear in two to attack from the sides allowing the first to go for the throat
Who would win in a fight: a chicken-sized horse or a horse-sized chicken?
Horse sized chicken would stomp a chicken sized horse.
This is correct. I have seen an actual chicken attack a fully grown, unaltered stallion, and win. Vicious little thing went straight for his eyes. That poor horse didn’t stop running until he was all the way back in his stall.
Farms are wild, y’all.
Do you know how to link a single variable to other variables like for example a sword linked with other variables like speed, strength. Is there anyway to link them so that when the MC holds that sword, it affects their stats momentarily?
Have you written in any other media (books, short stories, TV, etc.)?
Yes I do. Let me boot my laptop up and l’ll edit this post to add a sample code for you.
EDIT: there are two ways I’d do this. First option tie the increase to a specific stat then you can check the combined stats like I’ve done in the first example.
*create swordplay 1
*create skill 1
Pick your sword.
*choice
#Ye olde boring sword.
*set skill +1
*goto result
#Brand new shiny magic sword.
*set skill +2
*goto result
*label result
With your sword your swordplay is increased by +${skill} in combat. Which is useful because that fugly goblin approaches.
*if ((swordplay + skill) > 2)
Skillfully you dispatch the small creature with ease.
*goto end_sample
*else
It's a struggle, but you manage to dispatch the small creature.
*goto end_sample
*label end_sample
The End.
*ending
The other way is to have multiple stats like this example.
*create strength 25
*create top_strength 25
*create enhancement 0
*create speed 25
*create top_speed 25
*label training
How much training do you do?
*choice
#A little bit of training.
*set enhancement 5
*goto result
#Enough training.
*set enhancement 10
*goto result
#I don't stop training.
*set enhancement 15
*goto result
#I stop training.
*goto end
*label result
*set top_strength (strength + enhancement)
*set top_speed (speed + enhancement)
Here are your current stats;
Strength: ${top_strength)
*line_break
Speed ${top_speed}
*goto training
*label end
*set top_strength (strength + enhancement)
*set top_speed (speed + enhancement)
Here are your final stats;
Strength: ${top_strength)
*line_break
Speed ${top_speed}
*ending
I’ve written short stories and I did write a anthology book and a full blown novel both were self-published for awhile but were deleted years ago when I made the switch to IF.
Thanks a lot, these are really helpful, though it took me a while to figure out what was going on😅
You’re welcome. You can learn some pretty neat tricks with choicescript.
