Progress goes steadily, but as I was pushing through, my mind wandered to Whiskey four’s system. It doesn’t have stats, merely checks for if you have a proper item and allowing you to use them with varying successes. Where the fail option is less a stat thing and more so you choosing a poor decision resulting in an injury or a bad outcome later on.

I have yet to implement the trait system. Mostly waiting till I finish out the entire thing before going back and adding any failure results or traits. But I do wonder what you all think of this? Would you rather have no traits and merely have your own judgement to go by in regards to whether or not an option is a good idea, and thus whether it goes well for your character?

To leave you off. I shall provide you a small excerpt of what I have been working on so far.

Excerpt

She stares at you for a few moments. Eventually grabbing the cup and going over to the sink. Hovering the cup under it for a few seconds before placing the decidedly empty cup in front of you.

You stare at the cup, then back to her. And she returns the stare.

What, are you supposed to act like you’re drinking water or something? You look around and you see other patrons with clearly filled drinks. So that can’t be it.

“Where’s the water?” You eventually break the silence.

“Got shot, so we don’t got anymore water here.” She drops the accent for a few seconds before quickly returning it as she scoffs. “Wouldnae change the fact yer drinkin’ water at a bloody bar.”

“Ah…” That must be Riley’s doing… And so you mime drinking the water from the cup.

Yummers. Can’t live without it.

That’s a pretty good idea!!

No traits-stats based system is going to give the readers/players an immersive experience and won’t force them to play along only a certain path.
So it’s a very good idea

Time for another update! I do bring some good news this time. I have knocked out another 15-20k words thus far, no doubt in thanks to the fact this section has been rather action heavy and I need to account for the variables. This also does mean that it will take a good bit. As over 8000 of those words have been in one sub-path of one of the major paths. I hope it is an outlier because this is looking like it will be rather large. And I haven’t yet implemented any fail states.

As the year draws to a close. It is hard to think I’ve actually worked on something for this long. That sprint at the start where I was knocking out 5 to 10 thousand words in a single day for the opening really did not help put into prespective just how much of a momentous effort it is to actually write it. Certainly will be a unique experience to work on a project that will last more than a few months. Possibly into the multi-year mark given how varied stuff is…

Regardless. I wish that you all have a merry christmas and happy holidays. And more importantly a wonderful 2025. I hope to see you then with some news and hopefully even. A finished portion.

When I click on the cogdemos.ink link in the first post to play the last update I don’t get to the game ? Just to my dashboard. And nothing too when I search Arceus on the site. (Which worried me with the end of dashingdon :sob: .)

Did I miss something somewhere ?

Curious… I’ll have to check on that. I haven’t quite transitioned yet to cogdemos but it seems I will have to put that up the priority list to keep the demo playable.

Do try now and let me know if it fails to work still. It seems I had it link to the dashboard or something and hadn’t noticed…

Yeap, it works perfectly now ~. I could play until the end of the demo. I still can’t wait to meet the one we met at the party. Ah, ah, ah it sounds like another fun encounter even if it’s not for now ~.

Hai! Hope everyone is doing great! Progress had been stopped due to a combination of Finals. Sickness and holidays but I am pleased to say that it will be ramping up again soon now that those are mostly over. (still a little sick but it ain’t gonna stop me.) A rework of some of the starter portions is due as well and as such when the time does come for a release. It should be an overall more polished experience. I hope to have better news for you all come February!

Hello again. I come bearing another update. University has begun far sooner than I had expected and Ramadan is similarly close, which does not quite bode well for my productivity. Doubly so with the word count heavy sections. Even if I am able to go through them at a faster rate on average (2000 words a writing session as opposed to around 500 for more dialogue heavy sections.) It is appearing to be a few Knott’s worth of length for just one of the four major paths. Which is less than ideal, but I am still remaining a stick in the mud and refusing to budge and combine them easily. At least in certain important points. I will eventually have to do so if I do not wish to wait till 2026.

A knott. as a term of measurement, is about 33k words. For those interested.

I hope to be able to provide some snippets in the next report! have a wonderful rest of your February.

Hoi hoi! Time for another update. Unfortunately, the university time combined with my other times has left me with dastardly little time to actually motivate me to write. So very little progress has been made. I am not sure if Ramadan would necessary help or not. But we will see. A tad disappointing the fact I got so busy during the 1st anniversary of having published the prologue. But it is what it is. Hopefully I will get more time and motivation to get some more decent work on it.

Then, was the name of our first target a pun? (One Knott Luckie) Anyways, waiting fervently for the next update. If you need any help with the descriptions of the takedowns(mostly lethal), please let me know, as I’m well-versed in this area.
