Any interest in a COG Wiki?

I think wikis usually keep track of who does what. It’s usually really easy to revert to old versions too.

I’d say let the pages just be made on a first come first served basis. People can always add to and edit existing entries later if they want. It’s collaborative. I don’t see us getting into fights over it.

I’d wait for the page templates to be set up though.

I don’t know what you changed exactly just now, @Lordirish, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. :joy:

(You know, being called a tool and all… Meh, might go over your heads.)

The css file has to be changed after adding the extension file that is why it looks all out of wack but have not found the css file yet.

Lol tool little old school hehe

I’d offer to help, but I would probably make things worse.

But I can cheer you on! You can do it!

Have a bit of time before the CSIDE so was wondering why we need and extension? I have done and read a lot of people are having trouble with this particular one. Granted I am fairly new with this software but finding rather simple to create a page, have been testing on the main page, then link it to the main page then add a link back to the new page. Plus I really do not like the css and how it makes the site look. Just my thoughts on the matter. I could write up a help file too walk new users through this if it is agreed by all. Of course someone with more skills in this software could maybe make it work correctly.

Um, just checking if this is how you see the wiki right now:

Seems like the CSS isn’t being applied at all anymore. (Cleared the cache and checked in two different browsers.)

Not going to be able to do much tonight. Think I will remove all I have done until someone more skilled then in this can set it up.

I am happy to help in any way you see fit. As this will be a help to authors I think they should be willing to help in getting involved by supplying us with whatever base information they can. It’s going to be much more cohesive and streamlined to use a wiki for their readers than scattered info on Facebook and forums assuming it doesn’t cause financial loss.

Before we go ahead though I think that CoG and Hosted should know that the brands have become so popular there is demand for a wiki, and will they support that. They only need let us use the logos if inclined and it’ll be run voluntarily. They can offer help or recompense in the form of competitions our vouchers if they would like to because after all this is free promotion and work for them and will boost forum membership.

Just a few thoughts

We need the extension for infoboxes (the boxes on the right side of every page that contain basic information). If we don’t have them it would just be a big list of stuff on every page, and it wouldn’t look very nice or be easy to navigate.

I’ll see if I can get it working later on, but this is why I suggested using wikia. All extensions come pre installed and we don’t have to spend days fiddling with settings

edit: looks like your site is down entirely @Lordirish

Why don’t you write Jason Hill at support@choiceofgames.com? I’d do it myself, but my email is a mess and we should also avoid sending several messages about the same thing. He doesn’t always check the forums, but he could pass it around the staff and give you an answer.

Just in case they’re around, though: tag @jasonstevanhill @dfabulich

Hopefully @tw1stedmind can manage to get the site where it needs to be. I can reinstall all the software but then we will have to reset our logins. I have made a dummy site so from know on any major changes to the software can be tested before implementing to the main site so we do not have to go through this again.

Makes sense but from everything I was reading said that extension had to be added. Yep the site was down for a bit but was backup later that morning.

Wow, this is a great idea. Glad to see that it’s being worked on!

Alright since I broke it we had to remove it and setup a clean slate. That means you will have to register agaim, sorry folks. @tw1stedmind is working on it so hopefully will have it soon for you all. Will update the link for it at the top when he has it ready.

As far as the logo goes I will wait to see how much we accomplish and show the support we have for it, then I will send Jason an email asking permission. But do not hold your breath as I would fully understand if they said no. Well long day so heading to dreamland take care all.
