Nice, I canā€™t wait to see it!

Iā€™ve thought about it and shouldnā€™t the scouts also have ā€˜weather protectiveā€™ things added to their armor / kit? Since I canā€™t imagine a mostly deserted mutant-scapes and scavenging points being very safe to breathe in or to have in direct contact with your skin?

I guess theyā€™d be kinda like the movie version of Paulā€™s faction in Dune? Light Armors with good melee options and added stuff to protect from the sand and the elements?

I donā€™t think world is turning to wasteland here in the story, nature surely reclaim what was lost but the land itself probably not barren.

Thatā€™s not what I meant by ā€˜desertedā€™, I just meant thereā€™s nothing but mutated stuff there. You still need protection from the elements in an hostile forest, just look at the Amazon forest for exemple, now add in that everything got mutated to some extent and you got a recipe for a place you should only ever go in in an armored Azmat Suit.

Ahh yes That I agree but it doesnā€™t seem like mutation is like infection, probably would need gas mask and such for protection for harm, then again this probably situational equipment.

What author wanted to tell us probably just the standard uniform for scout

Yeah, I donā€™t think they could catch the mutation or anything but there could still be harmful stuff around due to mutants or just the changed ecosystem or plantlife.

Yep itā€™s possible such harmful effect do exist probably in dense vegetation area, but surely not all terrain need gas mask or maybe in dry season doesnā€™t need to carry raincoat.

The description probably scout general appearance/uniform rather than their full combat gear.

Yes, Scavengers would bring clothing/supplies necessary for survival against the conditions. They do have some knowledge on the terrain near Gallandor from previous expeditions. Any weapons they carry with them would be for defensive purposes, like the Mutant Taser introduced earlier in the story. Light to carry, but packs enough of a punch to buy them a few second to escape mutants.

I wish I could give a more detailed response, but I want to leave the Unknown as mysterious as possible until itā€™s expanded upon in the series! So Iā€™ll leave whether gas masks are a necessity up in the air for now.

Thatā€™s fair to not spoil the story, I get the feeling this mutant debacle is not the end of it, seems like serious security breach is going on to attack the academy, seems like there is human involved making this happen.

October 2024 Progress Report

Spent most of my recent progress on the AMA quest! Iā€™d say Iā€™m about halfway done with it if not a little past that. My pain comes from the fact that itā€™s needing a lot of variables, but Iā€™ve been enjoying it a lot so far, probably because itā€™s the most plot relevant quest in the game. The plan was to work on it slowly, but I may just grind the rest of it out soon.

Ruthā€™s intermission event is officially finished. Next up on the list is Jay, who Iā€™ve only just started. The introduction leading up to your conversation with him is already longer than Ruthā€™s. Iā€™m trying to add as many NPCs as I can in this intermission, so expect to see random characters in places youā€™d least expect them.

Iā€™ve also written the final hint to unlock Crazy Coryā€™s safe as well as started the scene that comes after you unlock it! Iā€™m working on a few scenes at a time so not too much has been finished since the last report, but Iā€™m hoping that means multiple sections will be finished at once whenever that time comes.

Thanks for reading, see you next report!

Long time no see! So Iā€™ve finished Jayā€™s confession scene and Iā€™m starting to reconsider some of the promises Iā€™ve made in the past about romance and figured itā€™d be best to make a poll to see how you all felt about it before I make a final decision.

The initial plan was to make the original 6 romance options available for both the first game or the second game if the reader doesnā€™t want to commit yet and therefore have another completely unique confession scene in the sequel. Now that Iā€™ve started writing these scenes for the final intermission, Iā€™m feeling content with them as they are. I feel that instead of adding more confession scenes in the second game, I can use that time/space to further progress those relationships. Also based on previous comments in this thread, it feels like everyone has an idea on who theyā€™re choosing or at least will by the time the second game comes out.

So basically Iā€™m considering locking the first 6 romances after the first game! Since this gets rid of another promised feature (RIP intermission mutant training), I wanted to gather your thoughts before committing! So I made a poll and will be grateful if you voted your opinion!

Sorry for the essay, maybe I should consider putting all this text into the next update

Should the main romances be available for the second game?
  • No. I have/will make up my mind by the first book.
  • No. I plan on doing multiple play throughs anyways.
  • My character isnā€™t pursuing romance.
  • Yes. I havenā€™t made up my mind yet.
  • Yes. I want to see a variety of scenes.
  • How the scenes play out will influence my decision. (Undecided)

If you feel content with their confessions then lock it.

Iā€™m probably just gonna manipulate flags to do multiple romances at once honestly.

Little do you know I created an ā€œanti-piracyā€ like system where if you try and do that, the game will force you to romance a Grime instead!

ā€¦I just gave myself nightmares for a jokeā€¦

I dunno I feel itā€™s too early for romance not that I am not interested in that, I feel crush is more appropriate considering the setting.

We barely touch the meat of the game romance I am guessing would be later after training etc etc.

@Dragomer :fearful: :fearful: :fearful:

@Cryzhentia Thatā€™s exactly how Iā€™d describe it! Ultimately the first book is going to be two characters admitting they like each other and not any more than that. The goal is to tell that through the perspective of a character who values something like this to such an extent that sharing feelings will be seen as a life altering event that will hopefully feel satisfying enough for now until it gradually progresses into more throughout the series. The romance will mature with the characters!

In that case, there definitely should be entrances into romance for at least some of the characters in a later book, IMO. (Possibly not all of them if youā€™re adding new romances later.)
