An Odyssey: Echoes of War – Fight the sea god's wrath to reclaim your throne!

All right, I’m gonna do a little review on this story. I will try to avoid cold comments so as not to offend anyone, but the reader should keep in mind that this is a criticism, so it can be both positive and negative.

The title of this choice of games does justice to the game itself. In other words, this, no matter how hard you try, is not the original Odyssey we all know. Although it has chapters where the most famous events take place (like the cyclops and the sirens) it does not follow to the letter the adventures of Ulysses on his return to Ithaca. There is instead a “mist”, which allows the protagonist to repeat the achievements of Heracles, but in itself does not develop well the values of Greek society.

This is in the context of history. If we talk about the characters, these vary completely from their original destinies, not to mention their personalities. The death of Ajax and the end of Polyxena are ignored and rewritten, so it will be strange for a connoisseur of the Odyssey to see them among the crew.

I could say many more things, but I assume they will not be well received by the readers of this forum. I can only say that the game allows us to take a more palpable look at Greek mythology (compared to others), but it does not allow us to go deeper by following the original story. Those who like decisions and free will might be satisfied with this game, however, it is far from being a worthy reinterpretation of Homer’s legacy to literature.
