It’s no problem, I like talking about the world situation and such, even if I know it’s not the most interesting part of the story to most people. As long as someone asks, I’ll be glad to offer info.
That said, the answer to your question is a bit complicated. I’ve mentioned the AToH world is a bit ‘fairer’, or I guess more ‘left-leaning’ because the consequences of failing to pacify the populace are so much greater, but besides that, a lot of the nitty gritty stuff isn’t set fully in stone.
Basically, the political parties of the real world don’t exist in AToH. The policies may be a bit similar (in which case, Arthur is actually similar to Eden and MacMillan), but there’s rarely a 1:1 comparison that can be made between RL politics and AToH stuff.
Arthur wants the Commonwealth to remain and to be strengthened, he believes in as close an association with the United States as possible, and…
And he’s given up on Continental Europe. The match for supremacy over Europe is between France and Germany. He wants no part in it.
Also, now that I’m on my PC:
Ding-dong, we have a winner. Here’s a prize:
“And if they do not?” a reporter asks, a redhead with what sounds like an Irish accent. “What will you do if Washington does not relent? If the conflict escalates?”
The diplomat takes a second to formulate an answer, but when he opens his mouth, he is pulled out of the way.
An older woman, maybe in her 40s, takes his place. She’s in uniform, you note, with what seems like a crown with two swords below it on her collar, her posture as straight as a rod. Her eyes are the color of pure gold, with slits reminiscent of a cat.
“The Byzantines,” she says, and puts up one finger. “The Italians.” Another finger goes up. “And the Reich.” Three fingers now, which she shows to the cameras, before leaning onto the podium with her other hand. You think you can see it crack.
“That is three eagles we have plucked out of his sky. And if it pleases America…” she finally says as her fingers curl to make a fist and her lips peel back to show a pair of fangs, “… They are welcome to be the fourth.”
