Speed is subjective tbf. Idk how much detail the author plans to use, but if Aki is the fastest it has to be in terms of travel speed. With her other abilities it wouldn’t make sense for her to have higher attack and reaction speed than everyone else and be outside the big three. Speed can make or break your character, but it all depends on much detail is used.
I’m just starting the demo, but I wanted to pop in real quick & say that I LOVE the archery club addition. I shoot archery competitively irl & it always makes me happy to see archery in any capacity within a cog!
Ye, she might be faster in terms of actual travel speed, either running or flying, but I don’t necessarily think she has faster combat reaction speeds than seeker, forlorn and ignis.
Ye it was stated her travel speed is = / > mach 40, they never confirmed she has better reaction speeds than Seeker and Forlorn. Seeker might overall be the “fastest” character in the league so far, as far as we can tell at least.
I like the changes to joining the league, they come across as supportive and MC being given room to express their feelings helps prevent it from feeling railroaded. One issue, my MC was automatically put in a tuxedo in chapter 2, and I feel like there should be a dress option.
At least it wasn’t as forceful as last time. I agree we should get to choose what we wear to party in chapter 2. It just felt like we were just a backseat driver without that chance to pick what we wear
Looks like Jjcb wrote another two articles,
This article is not ominous at all…
Hopefully we can delay the answer of What would happen, if war were to be waged not between the strong and the weak, but the strong and the strong?
This Article is one of my favorites it gave some very interesting insights into the early dynamics of BK and BQ’s reign, and it all but confirms King killed the missing Aegean Islands IMO, though I suppose Kings Ramblings Part 2 also did kind of confirm it. Nevertheless very interesting article, loved that the Treasurer thought of King and Queen as his children.
Unless and until you have proof this is nothing but libel and the Cretan Republic will see you in court.
Note Susanne’s last name. I make a point of having names be symbolic (Seeker’s name is quite literally a play on ‘Strongest Demon’).
Susanne’s represents what to expect of her.
I relate to the Monarchs ever more. I mean, I don’t know who Phokas was, but “X is a cunt, therefore fuck everything they want” is immensely relatable.
This is adorable.
lol
I begin to have… suspicions on how Vambrace knows so much about the Monarchs.
It’s fine, let them come I prefaced it by saying “in my opinion” to skirt the libel laws
Besides if Crete is gonna sue me they will have to accept that King is kind of their representative, which I suspect they will be reluctant to do.
Dietrich-Wolff, so Dietrich, Ruler of People (Keeper of Keys), and Wolff, variant of Wolfgang, which means “Wolf” and “Battle”, huh interesting names. So in short…this world is about to undergo something so massive it will shake the very foundation of it.
It’s this guy I think Nikephoros II Phokas he led the invasion to take Crete IIRC.
That’s a nice catch, I completely missed that.
To be fair, the only reason I pick up on anything Vambrace is because it was Aki that mentioned them. Just look at how long it took me to notice Mars letting it slip that the reason for the G7 meeting is that Gloria wanted to set up a trap (fucking up every civilian around is just a bonus, I guess).
Honestly, that particular bit and the one about the reasoning used to convince the Queen of why she needed an army are probably the two best representations of what their rule was like and the thought process behind their decisions.
Fist and blades are never going to work on the King or Queen. You need a different tactic if you want to deal with them.
Oh, but whatever could you mean?
Not necessarily. Crete has pretty good reasons for why they don’t want the Monarchs associated with the Aegean Cataclysm in any shape or form.
The Monarchs are credited as the founder of the nation, obviously, so they make a point of making them look pretty good to anyone that knows of them. They were ‘legendary warriors’, who ‘excised the nation of slavery centuries before the world woke up to its evils’, and ‘their strength is only matched by their devotion to each other’.
They’re a symbol, essentially. But now consider this:
The Aegean Islands at the time were very important places to the Byzantine Empire. They helped them control the seas, and served as bases (as well as recruitment areas) for the Byzantine Navy. That’s not to mention they obviously had thousands of people living in them.
Add to the above that, as far as the people in the setting can tell, Euboea, Rhodes, and Crete (the only remaining islands) all hold plenty of relics from time immemorial. Crete was the home of the ‘first’ European civilization, Euboea had Eritrea, and Rhodes had the Colossus. These islands are all host to plenty of culturally relevant ruins and the like, and, as far as they can tell, the rest of the Aegean Islands probably aren’t any different. They must have held so many important/historical things, and yet now we’ll never know about them.
Letting the Monarchs be tied to the Cataclysm is thus a massive smear job. You can blame the Monarchs for, in no particular order:
A) The constant weakening of Byzantium after Basil, which eventually culminated in the fall of the Empire.
B) The massive humanitarian disaster that the destruction of the islands would have caused.
C) The loss of God only knows how many relics and artifacts which would be worth their weight in gold to the world of archeology today.
Therefore, as far as Crete is concerned, the Monarchs had nothing to do with it, and that’s the way they like it.
Hypothesis roulette
The monster is…
The true power of… [MC, Kratis, Forlorn, Aki, Victoria, the Broken King, the Blitz Queen, Ignis, Lat]
Secretly the cause of… [the Aegean Catastrophe, the King’s immortality, Hell overflowing, the Heavens clamoring, Other You’s warnings]
Secretly caused by… [the Aegean Catastrophe, the King’s immortality, Hell overflowing, the Heavens clamoring, Other You’s warnings]
Its secret identity is actually… [Dryton, Other You, a living god, the giant that Giga City is named after, an ancient alien, an ancient alien orphan, the Heavens’ avatar on Earth, the living manifestation of humanity’s fear of the powered, a metaphor for nuclear weapons]
Its existence is known to only a select few groups, specifically… [Valkyria Regiment (RIP), the Queen’s Guard, the Broken Cult, Susanne, Gloria, Louka Minas, Victoria]
It bears some significance to the location… [Crete, the Andes, Berlin, Giga City]

Could probably use a bit of context to explain what this is about, tbf.
I mentioned in Discord a while back that my original design idea for Seeker’s giant sword was to make it Excalibur or Joyeuse, but I ended up scrapping that idea because making it a dirt poor peasant’s sword made much more thematic sense.
Still though, Seeker may or may not, possibly, likely, perhaps have taken Joyeuse from France several centuries ago.
I also mentioned that I had an… inspiration from two things for a certain place/important development.
The first was this: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Opening - YouTube (1:45 to 1:58).
More specifically, this image:
The rest is:
- The Valkyria Regiment is what Forlorn belonged to back when he was a soldier. By the time he was 16, he was already a Major-Commander in it.
- Loukas Minas is the name of Crete’s current president.
- Dryton, Hell overflowing, etc etc, that refers to the Heavenly Kingdom religion. You readers have noted, I hope, that Forlorn and Aki never swear by God. They use Heavens, which is what they worship. Other You also mentions a ‘Saint’ when you first meet, which is another religion. I shared a few snippets about what that religion is about the other day. Let me know if you’d like to see them.
So when you say you draw inspiration from the screen shot are we talking the whole lore behind it or just the ascetic of thr image.
Also are you a cold steel fan? I felt like i was alone in being a trails fan my normal character name for most of my games i play on here is either Rean Schwarzer or Crow Armbrust lol
Oh, it’s more the aesthetic than anything else, yeah. AToH takes a bit of a different tack from witches and super technological gnomes and primordial evils/curses and all that.
The inspiration refers to the graveyard of weapons (which in my head are surrounding a coffin), and the massive ‘monster’ dwarfing everything else in the picture as it ‘stands guard’.
The video builds up on it a bit more, see how the ‘monster’ roars near the end and that alone begins to engulf the whole area.
And yeah, I’m a pretty big Kiseki fan! I played the whole series (from Sky First Chapter to CS4) in… a little under a month, more or less. I’m fully brainrotted.
I’ve mentioned the series has a bit to do with the story as well. Estelle, the protagonist of the first trilogy of games, is known as ‘The Sun’, and both Victoria and the Blitz Queen are considered ‘Suns’ in AToH (The Queen is an even clearer parallel. Estelle is ‘The Sun of Liberl’, to the BQ’s ‘Sun of Crete’). One of the commissioned pieces also has Latooni wear a shirt with the Bracer Guild emblem on it as well, she’s an in-universe fan of the games as well.
Gloria is also partly inspired by Gilliath Osborne, and Loukas (Cretan President) is a similar character to Prince Olivert.
… Hm, and depending on how you look at it, I suppose the Broken King and the Blitz Queen are parallels to Emperor Dreisel and Arianrhod, except that they’re genderbent and did get together.
I wonder if the way we handle being a hero & talking to the public will have an effect towards the League? Like if we are a good hero who is like this ideal hero the public will see the league as there to be helpful but if we decide to be nasty towards the public & come off as not really caring or wanting to be a hero it will have a negative effect towards the League? Also I wonder about being able to leave the League? Like branch out on our own as a hero or just leave the League because we never wanted to be a hero in the first place? Maybe even join the villains because we don’t want to help the League after they made us a hero? I know all of this is spoilers just wondering what will come next
Oh ok makes a whole more sense but thay would be a very fitting set piece for a tomb always loved the sound track for that battle.
My my if Osborne is your inspiration for Gloria then i really cant wait to see what you do with him since you played basically everything Kiskei
I really shouldnt have so say much more but hes a hell of a character for sure.
As for Loukas being compared to Olivert all i can picture now is him speaking with a rose in his mouth being all “dashing” and “suave” joke aside he would be a great match up for Gloria intellectually and strategically speaking cant wait to see those scenes play out.
Hmm when you really lay it all out like that i really do see the parallel with Emperor Dreichels
And Arianrhod like gosh lol
Now for me personally when i played the story seeker reminds me of Mcburne (cause he likes to drink and a banger of a swordsmen) or Viscount Arseid
I know ive said this already but im glad to find a fellow Kiskei fan. And i am not sure if i have also mention this but i really love your story you have crafted and giving me the privilege to read.
Ah Loa Erebonius, the Ashen Power. Good thing to take inspiration from. But I’m a Kiseki nerd too so. I been working on going through Kuro no Kiseki right now. I really love the Grendel Modes. Hope more games use those as Inspiration for something. Can see it here if your curious. (Sorry about the quality, also slight spoilers? But hey its awesome.)
…Oh no. I don’t need this again. Watching that man like a hawk now and I’m usually pretty chill.
Yes, this is the case! It’s not really noticeable yet, because it hasn’t been long enough for dislike of the League to grow very much, but there is a hidden stat in the game that marks how the people feels about the League. The MC’s words and actions affect this stat. If you choose to go with Ignis and Seeker to the press event in Chapter 3, for example, the MC’s comments affect it, and how you treat the mind-controlled mob at the end of the chapter also affects it.
Of course, it’s not like you need the people to like you, anyway. I mean, the League has all the power right now, and it’s not like there’s a… guy… in the government… trying to… pass an Act… to fuck you over…
Right?
Well, think of it less as his joking persona (he has a stable girlfriend by now, they’ve been going steady ever since they were elected), and more the ‘playing a dangerous game’ aspect. It’s less “and now, the dashing prince must delight us all with his incredible musical talent!’ and more 'wait, he had what built where, and he wants to use it for what?”
I don’t know if you have seen it in the blog posts, but he’s the only character in-setting (beyond the dead Sayaka) to know the truth of Seeker, Victoria, and… whatever else is going on there.
Not an unfair interpretation, I think. Seeker has some things in common with McBurn, especially when we talk about Kratis before he became Seeker. There’s a reason Victoria named him ‘Demon’.
Appreciate the support and the kind words! Stay tuned, an update should be coming out pretty soon, too!
Ah, don’t worry about it. I’m waiting for the official dub/translation, but my friend group is pretty Kiseki obsessed, so I know a fair bit of the power ups and such. They really surprised me, it’s a pretty awesome direction to go after the Divine Knights imo.
Don’t worry, I promise Gloria wants nothing but success for America and the world. Don’t pay any attention to how his position on 90% of America’s ‘bad’ acts is ‘Vae victis’, I’m sure it means nothing!
