A Tale of Heroes (WIP) - 224k words. Updated 29/01/2025!

Can’t really talk on fashion since I don’t care much for it, considering I have old shoes that looks rugged as shit but I haven’t gotten rid of them because they’re not falling apart or have holes in it and I headcanon my MC the same way. That and I’d rather spend money on good food to get fat on after bothering Ignis and the others about great joints to go.

That might make mc look better, it won’t help mine feel better though if he still has to wear the boring and cheap jeans, t-shirt and sneakers combo almost all the time. I think that at the very least my mc would change to track and jogging suits and general sportswear ASAP. As that is at least more comfy than fighting in jeans.
Also the current collars we’ve got seem to only cover our faces, Nova would have to give us a full body holoprojector to even get there and if that is as or more expensive than a sexy hero suit my mc would rather have the suit.

To each his own, my mc likes his body much better now (one of the upsides of the superhero business is that he actually has to train and get in great shape, whereas before he was just above average and an irregular gym goer). He’s a pretty great cook though and the mansion always seems to be amply stocked with high quality food anyway, so no need to pay for that out of your personal salary…unless it is for a date with Mars.
Even then my mc likes cooking himself better and with a bit more experience he could probably rival the chefs of those high-end places himself, although he prefers different sorts of places or eating at home as he doesn’t really like to dress up in a penguin suit (aka Tuxedo) all that much either.
Had he not been forced by circumstances into the superhero field becoming a professional chef would have been one of the possible career paths for him. And, as per the prologue, Lat takes shameless advantage of any mc cooking skills.

My mc does, to him the incredible amounts of fashion freedoms most American celebrities get to take would be one of the few upsides to being a celebrity for him…so, yeah, he is kinda sad he doesn’t really get to participate in that aspect of USA celebrity culture. :disappointed: …yet (hopefully). :persevere:

Not necessarily. Remember, unlike most unaffiliated powered, you have Nova on your team, who is a bonafide genius. He can alter the MC’s clothes to make them more resistant, just like he does the team’s clothes in Chapter 2.

And even if your clothes did get wrecked, you’ve got the League footing the bill for it. Not everyone has that kind of war chest.

At some later point, yeah. He’ll be messing with someone else’s equipment eventually, so might as well bring up your requests then.

Assuming, of course, that you are still in the League by then…

I don’t mean to burst your theory, and I think it can still work depending on a few switches, but as far as status goes:

Aki’s dad > Forlorn’s dad.

Aki’s mom >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Aki’s dad.

So the point I’ve yet to see is, why go around wearing regular clothes at all go full in and walk around only in costume. Personally I would like this because yeah, who doesn’t want some weirdo walking 24/7 in some combat suit and gas mask, sure we’d look weird as hell, but it’s for the drip.

So will he also do it for some much nicer tracksuits and more fashionable outfits of the mc’s?

Mind you my mc may still want a super suit later on, particularly since you can potentially integrate a few tricks into it that are simply impossible to do with normal-ish sportswear and nice outfits.

Unfortunately Ignis doesn’t really allow the mc to go wild then…so no sexy leather or vintage inspired looks right now then. Hopefully Nova will also be willing to do it for clothes the mc gets once they start getting paid actual money in the future. :persevere: Pretty generic tracksuits and sportswear is probably the best my mc has right now then.

Sure, it’s what he does for all of the MC’s clothes. Everything you wear after going shopping at the start of Chapter 2 is modified by him.

Also, I don’t know if it’s been talked about but when the MC uses ranged attacks it’s described as energy being gathered in the arm and then being “released out” is that literally, the energy will come out of the hand\palm of the MC or is it like it forms in front of their hand and is released, I’m curious because if it’s released from the hand then no gloves, if it’s formed in front than maybe gloves.

Since it’s been mentioned that it works a little like how DBZ does the ki blasts, I assume it’s a ball of energy will form in front of the hand.

That and the energy blast route we use against the Other You in the dream fight is definitely Hell Zone Grenade that Piccolo uses in DBZ.

@Jjcb Kamehameha, when?? :slight_smile:

When you first use it it’s described as moving down your arm, so I assume it forms out of your palm first.

It’s how you’ll beat the final villain, shh Er, I mean, nothing…

As for the overall question, the energy comes from within the MC’s body, just like Ki in Dragon Ball. It’s an intangible sort, so whatever clothes/gloves you’re wearing won’t stop it from forming or cause burns or anything. It only becomes ‘solid’ once it’s out of your body.

Last question before I have to go do my IRL errands

Would be it be possible to do a combo energy attack at some point with Ignis or with Forlorn’s laser beams? I bet the sight of that would be so spectacular in the story’s universe

Most likely, though it’ll have to wait until the MC has better control of their powers.

There might also be unintended side effects of combining powers with Ignis. I’ve mentioned it before, but the MC and Ignis have different ‘batteries’ for their energy stuff.

It’s not at all assured that mixing them would go well. :slightly_smiling_face:

You know, i just now realized that the guy in the picture on the left is supposed to be forlorn, but that is not how i imagined him to look like

Forlorn sounds and acts like he looks like The Juggernaut. I just can’t see him as some skinny lean guy.

I think at one point he’s actually described as “a mountain of muscle”, so yeah, that art does not look like him to me, either.

But isn’t it established that the heroes are capable of moving much faster then the normal person?

The ATOH heroes can PERCEIVE things much faster than a normal person (as per the training room scene), but most of them don’t seem to be able actually move at super-speeds.

Seeker seems to be the fastest of the League, followed by Aki (or maybe Aki is the fastest, and she just hasn’t bothered to go over mach 40).

I think Aki is faster because Seeker specifically said that she was a prodigy when it comes to speed and he barely knows anyone that could match her, probably meaning he can’t match her if she went full speed. And I’m pretty sure she has went Mach 40 before since it sounded like she absolutely knew what her limit was.

Not quite.

Seeker is seemingly the fastest, but after him go Forlorn and Ignis, not Aki.

Of course, that’s just based on what we have seen. What their true ceilings are like, we’ll find out later on.

Yeeeeah, I have a gut feeling at the end of this series, Aki is going to end up being the fastest in the League meanwhile MC and maybe Lat is going to end up in the top 5% of the strongest in the world alongside with Kratis, Victoria and few others. Might be some heroes we haven’t met yet that ends up on that
