A Tale of Heroes (WIP) - 224k words. Updated 29/01/2025!

My honest feedback is to not focus your writing Ignis as ro. If the readers know what will happen in the end, they will not romance her, you are gonna waste your time on route not a lot of people will choose.

Yeah, makes sense, as Ignis is not really an RO, not in the traditional sense atleast

Damn, I’ve just played the demo for the first time, romanced Ignis and now I see this :'D
Welp, it was good while it lasted, at least I got to read the “wrong” version of Chapter 4 scene

Im confident the author can pull it off, but I would advise caution. If too much work goes into Ignis and she ends up as the best written character in the game, it will only lead to more frustation when people figure out that her romance is doomed.

I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you, though I understand your advice. The reason Ignis gets this much attention early on is because her character is pretty important for certain plot developments that are coming (she’s a weird mix of a Morality Pet and a Morality Chain, as it happens), but that’s not really going to… last, so to say, once certain revelations come to light.

I don’t know if I’ve said it here before, but Aki’s the character that everyone should be looking out for. After the PC, she’s the closest thing to a ‘Main Character’ in this narrative.

Way ahead of you.

Yep Aki’s is the challenge I will try. Honestly she is the one that should be watched as things develop especially how things stand between her bodyguard and her self

So, I was looking at the character art again, and I just noticed V and Seeker both have rings around their necks (also their jackets match but one assumes that’s just a Seeker thing). @Jjcb Before V… stopped being the Seeker, were her and our current Seeker married? You’ve said they were romantically involved. Are they still married? I feel like this might be an issue for/with Ignis if so.

Alternatively, are the rings somehow involved with being the Seeker? Do they contain any sort of power? Or is this just a little design similarity I’m reading way too much into?

Are Ignis and V wearing the same earrings? It’s hard to tell but that looks like the same little gold star design.

Good eye. :slightly_smiling_face:

More ‘lived together’ than marriage, really. They didn’t follow the traditional route, and if you had anyone examine the ceremony, most countries wouldn’t recognize it as legitimate.

That depends on who you ask. From Kratis’s point of view, they are.

Victoria doesn’t disagree.

No, the definer of ‘being Seeker’ is the massive sword.

They are, though this is a hint of the future, as opposed to a hint of the past like the rings.

Well, this sounds like it could be considered a common-law marriage in certain jurisdictions, but presumably wherever they lived didn’t do that.

So… uh… how does Ignis fit into that? I would hope he’s not the kind of guy who would cheat on his wife, for everyone’s sake. I feel like its gonna be a massive clusterfuck if the MC is romancing Ignis and the gang meets Victoria.

They’re both gonna be revealed to be aliens from the stars, clearly.

Well, Kratis doesn’t know where he was born, but yes, Victoria’s birth country uses civil law.

They didn’t marry in either of those countries, though.

If he was, they would already be in a relationship, but Kratis is not that sort of person, and that’s more to do with Victoria than any ‘societal’ upbringing or biases or anything.

Kratis has a pretty… primitive view of certain parts of human society, despite being the most world-weary League member.

‘He is Victoria’s, and Victoria is his’ is how he’s always seen things, which is part of the issue with Ignis, because he can’t make her fit within his worldview. Very much a “I gave Victoria my soul, how come you also have it?” situation.

He wants Ignis, but he is already Victoria’s, and this is a situation he never experienced while he was with Victoria, thus he doesn’t know how to act, and so…

He just doesn’t. Kratis acts in accordance with what Victoria would do (as Chapter 5 shows). Victoria hasn’t dealt with a situation like this, he hasn’t seen her deal with a situation like this, and so he just hides himself away from making a decision- because Victoria is the basis upon which he makes his decisions.

As you can imagine, this leads to issues, something Victoria will become keenly aware of once they reunite, and struggle to correct.

I know how the League is meeting Victoria.

‘Clusterfuck’ is a good word to use for it.

I told you, Victoria is the Sun, Kratis is the Moon, and Ignis is the Earth.

Not my fault you all thought that was a metaphor.

So we live on Ignis, cool

And the mc and Lat are also possessed by some sort of Star Trek esque energy aliens…that is my mc’s theory and that is what he is sticking to, unless we get definite proof of something else.

i hope i don’t sound like a jerk but some of the characters don’t seem like good people i don’t know maybe i need to read it again great story tho

Wow Seeker really have it all. Why are the mc and Lat needed though if Seeker is there, cause I feel like he alone could singlehandedly do anything.

Seeker is the main character confirmed
