A Study In Steampunk: Choice by Gaslight

Sadly you can’t because he still works and believes in Woodwards’s Cause rather than the Free Mercia(and it’s malicious goals ).
In the end of the game when the Bad free Mercia is overthrown and you and Alexandra form the Good Free Mercia, he still wouldn’t join you but beyond the game just Imagine that in a span of years you and Alexandra did good things in the name of Free Marcia and he finally is convince and joins your cause.

Gah, that’s too bad. Finch really had some of the best and most emotional plotlines of any CoG I’ve played. If only we could’ve revealed Woodward’s secret army to Finch. I certainly bet he would’ve joined Free Mercia then. Man, that one ending made me furious.

I got kinda put off with having a male only MC at first but DAYUM~ Finch though!

I’ll say, the writer got me emotionally attached to Finch XD - It was longer than expected - super worth it, Replay value wise I replayed it 3x?

Quick question; how does one do the unique text if one can’t choose an option (like if you’ve imprisoned Alex and are at the cholera bit). It’d be really helpful for a CoG I’m writing…

Probably make a variable in the startup file like

*create alexa_prisoner false

Or something like that, then in the moment you capture her, in the scene file:

*choice #Let her go. You let her go. *goto next #Capture her. *set alexa_prisoner true You captured Alexa Townsend. *goto next *label next

Then in the scene with the unique text:

Bla bla bla. *if (alexa_prisoner = true) This happens. *goto next *elseif (alexa_prisoner = false) Stuff. *goto next *label next Bla bla bla.

I finally got the lone wolf achievement and it was really annoying trying over and over, even though I did enjoy this game.

It’s a possible ending and there’s certain steps you have to take on parts 3 and 4.
rejoin Woodward government. When Finch returns resign and leave. Refuse to return.

In part four refuse to go with Woodward and he’ll drag you back anyways. Don’t agree to sabotage the rebellion at first, but when he begs do it for Mercia.

Succeed in sabatoging the rebellion ( without getting Alex to help).

Do not go back to Finch when he asks.

The ending should be the achievement.
That achievement is so lonely :frowning:

@Dannyrulx I think what you’re looking for is CJW’s answer here: different text when selectable

I hadn’t really noticed it before, but this game is now one of my favourites.

I love how Finch comes across as a more passionate, less aloof version of the original Sherlock Holmes and how Watson gets a chance to shine as our PC.

The rehabilitation path at the Temple felt the most satisfying and the serial killer path the most thrilling.

Although I was disappointed when the latter came to an abrupt end; my Watson being a worthy opponent to Finch by that time, I would’ve liked the game of cat and mouse to continue. Also, being under the Ripper’s tutelage might have proved interesting, and similarly intense, with one wrong move potentially resulting in a grisly death for the MC; it was jarring to accept his offer only to run into a dead end. I feel like he could have been the Ryuk to our Light, or even the Light to our Mikami (or even the Mikami to our…well you get the picture).

However, I understand why neither a prolonged serial killer storyline nor a serial killer training storyline would be a good idea for this game, and I still love it.

So is it not possible to save Grace without you being taken away or turned insane?

As far as I can tell, no .

Is having the option to play as both genders a rule?

For CoGs, yes.

Just like the rule that every post on this forum has to be at least 20 characters.

Not for hosted games, this game is male only, and guenevere,( which I don’t think is out yet) has a female only problem protagonist.

I just got this game a few days ago and am really enjoying it. I play on a Samsung phone and have had a few problems with the save bar loading. I also ran into amother bug, one I have yet to see mentioned here. After playing through the the game and getting the “Life for a life” achievement, I noticed that my 40-50 achievements decreased to 16. Despite being a little upset, I thought I would just play through more and reacquire these achievements. Some of them I got again just fine, but I noticed that two, thus far, I should have gotten but didn’t, those being the Fencing Salon and the Long Live His Highness achievements. After this, my game seems to suffer sometimes with loading the next chapter. I really want to continue to enjoy the game and collect all the achievements.

@Dragonlvr8 If you don’t get an answer here, I’d suggest emailing the choice of games support email address with details of your issues, including what platform you purchased the game on. (Android store I take it?)

I’m having troupe curing the epidemic cast enough help?

Well there might be two issues that I can think of-

 1. Storywise, you have to bite the bullet and ignore all those people who need your help and focus on dealing with the epidemic. The more you help individual people the more people will die.

 2. It was never an issue for me, but I always play a character with high medical skills, so it may be that your doctor is having trouble because his medical skills are less than stellar, but that’s just a guess on my part, I know the above is an issue.

You also need a good relationship with someone who can deal with the infected water pump. This is either Alexandra (rebel girl) or your boss. The priest guy won’t do it because he’s sensitive to being blamed for the epidemic.

Don’t go shut down the pump yourself, because this leads to more deaths due to you not being available to treat people.

Okay that was never an issue for me, but good to know, I never asked for help there only to get a refusal, in my runthroughs either would believe if I told them they needed to do something to stop the epidemic.
