We know how he got MC; their mother was murdered and they were kidnapped
i completely forgot about that part XD
Might do a longer post later but just played it and I loved it so much! Just such a great story that is quite the emotional rollercoaster. Really feeling divided loyalties at the moment! It’s just so good
I’m glad Leon still being Leon even if he’s dragging himself ragged He does care and I’m glad I took the romance option with him
That hasn’t really changed, the mc is still the worst phantasma user and still sucks at it and it is still torture. The Earthworm thing doesn’t really change the screwed up fundamentals of the mc, nothing the mc can do so far has any impact whatsoever on that and the Arcadians are not interested in helping with that at all.
The mc cannot, not in any meaningful way at least, but then mine is certainly not a believer and five seconds of self-inflicted torture will never be communication in any meaningful sense.
At this point that doesn’t even matter in the slightest, my mc is not going to lug another useless parasite around, even if it is the correct one carrying the amount the mc does reduces their power to parlor trick level anyway and it requires the mc to severely torture themselves to even use it.
a) Is possible, which likely means the mysterious benefactor of the creepy twins has every possibility of being the mc’s great, great grandmother or something. Otherwise the mc seems to be the last of their bloodline and since my mc is gay…
Unless there are bastards around of course.
b) Also possible, but whoever they are they seem to know a lot more than Thaubal, so if they did that it stands to reason it is because the mc either has living (bastard) family they got their hands on first before Thaubal kidnapped mc or, of course, they are family of the mc and always had the correct parasite themselves all along. So B most likely cannot be true here unless A also is in some way.
Or c) the mc’s phantasma is indeed Isha herself, but summoning and binding her requires extra special knowledge and rituals and being the paranoid little shits they were the last living true high priest/theocrat or god-king/queen of Arcadia took that knowledge to some ancient grave with them because their own offspring clearly couldn’t be trusted with it and its power due to the grave sin of being from a younger generation.
Or maybe it is a lot simpler but it just cannot be done either unknowingly or involuntarily or on an immature child, which is why Thaubal’s torture methods didn’t work on the mc as the mc was not a volunteer or a consenting adult and Isha is too powerful or unknowable to be caught and bound like that.
Anyway it’s all speculation and even if any of it is true it won’t exactly help my mc to get rid of his unwanted passengers, so in-universe it would be useless knowledge to my mc anyway.
Particularly since it is established that the Arcadians of Thalia’s faction cannot access the negative or reverse half of their own phantasma’s powers, which is, presumably, yet more knowledge the ancient Arcadians didn’t want to pass on to their kids at some point.
during margaret’s death we saw brief flashback when she was young and she met a beautiful blonde woman, so I think it was Tahlia and Falco also mentioned as response to one of the choices just right after you got up, they don’t acknowledge him as arcadian, only his wife, then Tahlia proceeds to say something along the lines of ‘we don’t like that guy but yeah his experiments does seem to be a wonder’ , not sure if I remember it correctly but yeah, she and the rest of the arcadia gang were aware
setting that aside, I don’t actually mind wielding Raegusa and staying in arcadia for the duration until I’ve established a somewhat peace between Param and Arcadia, surely an ancient power will be very useful in negotiations I’m guessing the author will focus on that, Param and Arcadia, then who knows we might get a sequel versus the Empire
Is there a path where we can disrupt the Arcadians from the inside??, one more thing can we kill one of the RO in the future (I’m looking at you F) or they have some sort of plot armor
Bruh, why so many ppl hating on F
Edit: if you can hate Ante instead lmao
Apparently people are mega-mad that F doesn’t immediately bend over backwards to accommodate the MC, even though the MC was the literal bodyguard of the ruler of the kingdom that enslaved F for three-quarters of their life.
EDIT:
See? The reason is literally “they should smile more”. You can’t make this shit up.
Meh. Ante was at least honest in that she never liked or trusted you and was never shy of saying it to your face. Also, you do realise that Leomar could’ve countermanded Ante in literally anything at literally any time, right? There’s nothing she did that Leomar didn’t allow her to do. To be pissed at one and not the other makes no sense.
I hate to break it to you, but up until about 3 years prior to the MC joining the Parami royal court, every Arcadian in Param was a slave. Or dead. And they’re still treated like trash after that period. This is not a secret.
At least simp for Saine, the better brother.
Miles better than saying they trust you when they don’t.
I’m guilty of disliking F too lol, Ante on the other hand, I can’t fault her for being too loyal. Maybe once I get a little bit of background why F is always acting like on menopause, maybe I’ll start to be soft on them.
Ante will always be on the top list of people my mc will have to eliminate.
Instead of asking them to smile more, can’t they idk tone down the attitude? Well, that’s just my preference anyway, like its ok, you can be broody and angst all you want but just w/o being idk rude to me? They could’ve at least talk less to me if they hated me or reminded them of the painful past which I have zero knowledge of? Like if I know you were captive or enslave, I would save you but I didn’t know so I’m sorry. Nevertheless, other than the attitude, they seem to be ok, during the fight to save Eli, they seem amiable, if only they’re always like that, again that’s just my preference, I know there are others that likes them.
Simple I’m a simp
I’d rather she didn’t say it in MC’s face. No one needs her opinion anyway.
Isn’t it better to know who hates you/is suspicious of you than let them stab you in the back when you least expect it?
That’s exactly my point. She is a spy. Her job is suspecting you and making sure you weren’t a threat, and a mage with no traceable past, a tad too powerful, able to keep up with Leon to a certain degree? No matter how nice you are, that screams threat, or at least warrants her to be wary of you. She didn’t turn hostile until you did. However, you feel her after hearing her response about your wrongful sentence, she didn’t have any bad blood. In fact, I think she is right when she says ‘‘if everyone trusts you, at least one person must remain suspicious’’ or else the whole kingdom is at risk.
And yes, I mean in general.
She didn’t exactly stab MC in the back. She was just following her twisted sense of justice sprinkled with the feeling of her own superiority.
At the risk of speaking for them, I don’t think @Gloomcat is referring to Ante, specifically, just putting up a false front in general terms (which Ante definitely doesn’t do).
Neither, I must intervene here, is Ante at any point following a “twisted sense of justice” (or any kind of justice, for that matter) nor does she strike me as having a particular sense of superiority. She was doing her job. What she did is literally what she is supposed to do.
I mean, it’s annoying that one of the only two Paramis that are actually good at their job doesn’t like you, but them’s the breaks.
Allow me to put my interpretation of Ante’s character here to clear up my weird choice of words. Ante is the type of person I dislike the most - those people who for some reason believe that they are undoubtedly right and will miss no opportunity to rub it in your face until you yourself believe that you’re wrong and you’re the villain. When in the end they turn out to be fucking wrong they just shrug it off like it’s no big deal. No apologies, no reflection on their actions. Ante takes this shit to the whole new level where not only does she threaten the MC during the war (I won’t believe that she accidentally revealed herself, she’s a royal spymaster ffs), she also goes out of her way to constantly damage MC’s reputation by putting doubt into Leon’s mind (and maybe not only his). She just clenched to the weird theory that MC is evil. If she’s a fucking spymaster she should’ve spent her time searching for evidence of MC’s shady dealings (which don’t even exist by that point of the story, but instead of dropping the matter or just keeping quiet about it, she apparently stalks the MC). This is her being completely unprofessional and biased. Shouldn’t spymasters be discreet anyway? Why did she harass Ilya and MC during their first meeting? Why the threats? This woman drives me crazy.
So by saying that she had a twisted sense of justice I meant that she interprets stuff as she wishes without being particularly objective or thorough.
I bet Leon didn’t even fucking fired her. What a jerk xD
Regarding the real life part - I really don’t know, when the “stab in the back” stuff happens, it happens anyway, so I’d rather not be suspicious of a person until the end.
Edit: bruh, forgot about superiority. This in my opinion is the quality that follows every overly principled person. The do what they do because they believe they have the right and believe that they are right. Threatening a person unnecessarily, ruining their relationship with their friends is not right by any means. Yet she’s doing it anyway and when MC is ash she just goes like yeah bad ig ANYWAY THE FACTS FUCKING POINTED SO WHAT IF THERE’S NO FACTS
I mean, this is just not true. Everything that Aste does is perfectly consistent with just doing her job.
You’re a super-duper mage who has the ear of both princes and the saintesse candidate, and nobody knows anything about you, and that is super-duper suspicious because you don’t get to be a super-duper mage without super-duper training, meaning you were trained by a super-duper mage training facility that she doesn’t know about, and super-duper mage training facilities are exactly one of the things she should know about, especially because there’s no non-bad reason (from the point of view of the Parami Crown) for a super-duper mage training facility to not advertise itself as a super-duper mage training facility.
And then there’s the Salantiran attack, and YOU’re Salantiran, and to top it all off you have a direct connection to the leader of the Salantiran attack, whom you literally call Sister, and as it turns out you’ve been hiding pretty important intelligence from the Paramites, like the fact that an influential chunk of the Salantiran elite is being mind-controlled.
She’d have to be the WORST spymaster in history to not keep about twenty eyes on you at all times.
I hate to break it to you, but as I’ve just explained, pretty much all of MC’s dealing are shady dealings.
This is her actually being extremely professional. As I said, she’s one of about two Paramites that’s actually good at their job.
I really, really, REALLY fucking wish people would stop trying to pin the responsibility for Leomar’s actions on everyone BUT Leomar.
She actually has the right. That’s her literal job description, supported by the Crown, meaning she has all the rights, including legal ones. If you have a problem with her job description, you should take it up with the people who determined her job description, i.e., the Parami royals.
If there’s no facts that’s suspicious, especially because in the case of a super-duper mage there should be facts aplenty, and it’s her literal job to keep an eye on anything suspicious.
Yes, that’s because Aste doesn’t actually give a crap about the MC beyond “is this person a threat to the regime?”, because that’s what her job says is the only thing she should care about. If the answer is “no” then you’re irrelevant, if the answer is “yes” then you’re to be eliminated, if the answer is “I dunno” then you’re to be under close scrutiny until another answer comes up, and if the answer is “couuulllld beeee” then it’s to be treated as “yes”. There’s no answer to that question that leads to her actually caring about the MC as a person.
EDIT:
I’m actually the opposite; Aste is definitely on the “not powerful enough to be a threat” (as evidenced by the fact that you take her out with a single spell when she’s the one that ambushed you and you’re already super-worn out) column, so it’s a whole lot more fun to irritate her than to kill her, unless I’m intent on crippling Parami intelligence services (which, fair enough, I probably will be). The “Be careful you don’t fall for me” choice when you catch her spying on you during the war is chef’s kiss.
The feelings mutual, but since she’s a threat to me (including Thalia) I’ll personally see to it that They’re burned into ashes, (plus this is a chyoa so it’s up to us players to decide what path we are going to take, even if some of these path are morally questioned so let’s just agree to disagree)
