A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

To be honest our mc is partly to blame how on earth can you spend time with people and not even reveal little bits of your past before your pyscho sister comes up and decides to start a war for u to start spilling the beansss, if the mc was just honest about who there are we might have had a fighting chance to come out of that burning situation if we spoke more sincerely to someone in our adventuring group or someone we might have interacted during our time in piram or we trusted people more

MC’s trust issues were understandable, they trusted sister before and got burned, if they trust other people easily they might get burned again… oh wait

The mage explained why they didn’t spill their backstory. It would have gotten them prematurely locked up for insanity because of how stupid/crazy it sounds to someone who wasn’t there.

Your words do speak true on the level of honesty but clearly spilling the beans with people you hang out with isn’t something the mage could literally do on a whim and like Terin said it would lead to the mage’s imprisonment or even getting killed if decided to be a spy. Also the mage haven’t know the White Fangs for a long time to truly have complete trust with something that heavy. Also would have a high chance that one of them might end up blabbing about it to someone and whoopsie daisies we got the mage locked up because Julius’s laser focus was already wanting to know something about the mage, clearly Julius found the mage odd and what better way than saying some weird stuff, best way to interrogate the mage if he had decided the mage was an enemy. Also if the same outcome had came out with Miriel killing Julius then clearly it still would have been going down that same path just more aware of the mage telling them beforehand, clearly that would raise suspicion in itself especially with Leon on an emotional high if his favorite big brother died, he probably would look to the mage as to being the one at fault and his mental decline of feeling like a failure. :sob:

Ughhh bruh the mage have spent 1 or 2 years with them and also the mc is a foreigner, even in ancient times, a foreigner still need to be honest with their past and careful with what they said because there are on a land that they do not belong to, if it was like this current era it would not be sus and it will be completely normal

You know, i’m really not mad about the burning. It’s an event that need to happen to drive the plot forward. What I’m not satisfied about is Leon’s actions in the aftermath of assassination. Trying to break us out of prison, Illya betrayed the church, Saine betrayed his brother’s trust. They both showed flaw and vulnerability and trust to the MC.

Leon asked us and gave up on us.

If maybe he showed some vulnerabilities, cried in front of MC, admit that he doesnt know what to do, what to think. Idk, maybe even begged for the truth. Just something to show that he trusted MC. Have some duty vs. feelings drama. Maybe i would be team Leon too.

Bruh u know he can’t show vulnerability, if some people showed a crack in they true nature others will not look at them as a pillar of strength/determination and resolve but just a human being that can’t shoulder the weight of kingship, that is why leon is able to only vulnerable with saine because there are brothers and do not have a king to subject relationship

Showing vulnerabilities in front of MC is not equals to showing it to everyone. He could talk to MC alone

No he can’t because leon does not even know them, this have been mention throughout book 1 that we are just a unknown

I guess I’d be the paranoid one since I tend to like being cautious especially in a place I’m not familiar to. Sometimes telling the truth isn’t always the best way to go especially when you don’t know what someone will use it against you with, someone is always watching and what better way to put someone in a bigger bind by telling a secret even if that said secret isn’t harmful, kinda of like how a bully would blackmail you of an embarrassing photo and even then you bend over backwards just to still be exposed in some way even if they didn’t tell. Not saying it’s right to withhold secrets but it’s also not good to spout out everything to someone you think you may trust, it can be very delicate for some people and the weight of the words can be used against you if others are withholding information from you as well. :confounded:

I guess also it’s because of how the mage grew up I thought this too. Being in a toxic place does make you more aware and nervous of who to trust. Never fun to feel like you had someone you trust only to know they ended up being your worst nightmare, best example is with Miriel and poor Eli dying. Thought Miriel was family or closest friend r at least closest thing to it only to have serious nightmares of her not to mention the old dude they all liked only to see the mage realizing they’re getting choked in the dream by said kind person.

I understand oh i truly understand but we being mysterious did not help but created too many red flags that was just waiting to happen, hell even Julius was cautions of us due to our mysterious origin

So basically we’re screwed either way. Yep so at least we got to that conclusion. Geez poor mage just can’t win. Tell the truth or not tell the truth…

Bruh no matter how many time i tried to think of way of surviving that outcome in my head, all my thoughts point one conclusion our ass are cooked, hell to taunt me further when I look at something that involves joan of arc it reminds me of the mc :sob: :sob: :sob:

Maybe not…?

Well don’t know what Julius would have done really, maybe we probably would be alive? Maybe burnt to a crisp…or maybe turned for the good and not die maybe? Last one maybe to much wishful thinking and would have to be really lucky for that…:face_exhaling:

Where was the plot armor when we needed it before being roasted and jailed…

The times pre war, understandable if he doesnt trust us completely. But after fighting together in a war for 2 years? Almost dying for his cause over and over again? If it wasnt for Illya we will be dead. I think after that MC deserves some trust.

And if he ordered all the guards away to talk to us for a while, what can a broken mage with anti magic manacles inside a jail could do? If he showed some vulnerabilities the worse we could do is spit on him. He could be vulnerable, but the author decided him to be mysterious w his decisions. Leon here was handled poorly lol, thats were my dislike comes from.

bruh there was not gonna be plot armour because we left it in leaf end and decided to accept our “crimes like a saint” bs, like before the mc was going to slay or fix the saintess, they knew that they weren’t going to see that good woman in leaf end ever again

I get what you mean about being vulnerable but guess Leon was on his emotional high to really comprehend anything…on top of that pressure of being king and people out for blood and if he didn’t decide chances are the people would have done something about it and Leon might would have been on the chopping block too. He valued his big bro a lot and outweighing with a new friend could go either way but from how I saw Leon looked up to Julius.

The time Leon was seeing the mage, the Leon the mage knew was long dead. His mental state started from his big bro’s death, ante’s reports, his desire to be like his brother, blame for his bro’s death, in a sense recruiting the mage and making them retainer so that gives him bad rep, feeling lost since he had no experiences of politics like Saine, feeling overshadowed in a way with Saine given the banter in book 1, it built up so basically he was crumbling and lost. What may have seem mysterious was nothing more than a husk filled with fear. :cold_sweat:

Nope they would not, because they would have wanted a good reason and if we have time we could have given them one and the time could have been lengthened based on our service and reputation

dammm no matter how the cycles goes it is always points back to leon decisions
