your point here is correct but those are not options in the game lol i guess the in-game answer is tahlia would mind-control stop you. but i do wish we had more opportunities for the mc to go to pieces outside of just hitting the “im sad” button in dialogue from time to time
There has to be a range to her powers or she just would have mind read how to make mind controlling potion from sister instead of having to deal with her? In the fights we’ve been in i don’t thinks she could do anything if we died.
i think the reasoning behind tahlia negotiating with mireil instead of just reading her mind and being done with it was less about tahlia not being able to do it and more about tahlia thinking that sister would be more useful as a long-term asset. i don’t think?? there’s a stated range to her powers bc you can be magically compelled to save F in the fight with the necromancer even though you’re like several countries removed from her. no extreme acts of sabotage or self-destruction for us
A Mage Reborn player when they can’t kill themselves
I wonder if it is naturally that strong or something at the base is boosting it to that level? If she can read minds and controlling people at those levels why do you in spies to get you info? Can she control us( or maybe more like influence us)( because she revived us? Maybe that is why she never leaves to stay close to her power source?
i believe it is correct that she can only influence you like this bc she revived you (although someone might have to check me on that i think there is an arcane collar involved). i think the real reason though is that it’s just not a very satisfying story if mc immediately bites it again lol
edit: it’s giving here lies bevis he never scored
Can you be magically compelled to save F? I went back to check the scene where the necromancer has them at spearpoint, there isn’t an option to let F die but there are reasons that aren’t mind control given for saving them (those being F doesn’t deserve to die, Tahlia will kill you when you get back if F dies or that the necromancer will kill you here if they’re capable of killing F)
If there is mind control involved let me know but outside of the collars I don’t think that’s part of Tahlia’s skillset as much as she probably wishes it was.
i don’t think there is a version where she actually needs to do it but when you ask yourself why you want to save F, there can be an option that essentially says “I’m gonna be magically forced to do it anyways so i might as well just do it myself.” but i think you only get that option if you tried to escape earlier on, which is when the presence of the collar gets revealed. but it’s been a long time since i played this part so i might be wrong!
edit: wait that was confusing. basically, you only get the option if you know the collar is there, which tahlia only reveals to you if you force her hand by trying to run
Tbf out death wasn’t ruined, unless we are defining death as a continuous state of existence as opposed to the event causing you to be dead.
Although we are given evolving definitions of death even IRL. Like before your heart or brain shutting down would definitely count as you being dead but with modern medicine we can fix that and rejuvenate, nevermind long
term comas, brain death, and life support causing the definition of death something we usually view as final to be finicky and in that case is there truly a definition of death in a world where it is reversible? And given that we did burn to death, are we even the same person given that our continuous existence ended? Or are we more alike to a clone where someone just perfectly modeled your brain? Although at what point is a change in your brain considered different, I mean your child brain assuredly looks little like your adult brain, nvm strokes and the like, so isn’t a clone more you than the you of yesterday at that point?
Anyway sueing Thalia is clearly the most logical option here.
Yeah. So ergo our death wasn’t ruined. Our being dead was ruined.
At the moment and while i might be mistaken the MC isnt collared mearly threatened with it being a possibility of being done. Its a whole different magic that is tied to are resurrection by thalia and the pain we fill when we try to excape the first time.
A Mage Reborn player when Tahlia is surprised that they are resentful about being resurrected.
I’m gonna be honest here. I’m definitely doing pro-Arcadia as my Mage’s main route. Being the bad guy is kinda fun.
I’m going full Arcadia too, though tbf it’s more choosing a side than being the bad guy, that route would be the one where you are against everyone.
Yeah, and compared to the shitstorm that is the state of the world? Oblivion and nothingness IS heaven.
Sure
Honestly I find these comments that wish the MC could stay dead to be really silly and I’m starting to get a bit fed up with it. It’s obvious the Mage didn’t want to die and there’s nothing in B2 that shows a mindset that they’d rather be dead.
Do you lot not want the story to continue? Because that’s what you’re saying by spouting this stuff, the mage is staying around or you can leave it at B1.
It’s not that I don’t want the story to continue, it’s that I want to contextualize my feelings towards Tahlia and why I feel like I can’t actually work with the Arcadians. Tahlia at first seems to think you should be throwing yourself at her feet to help her because she revived you, and later, when you don’t give her that subservience she essentially enslaves you in a very similar way you were enslaved as a child (even to the point of literally threatening to put a slave collar on you) and also forces multiple spirits on you against your will.
I didn’t ask for Tahlia to save me, I would have been perfectly happy at peace in the grave, and her thinking she is owed something simply because she enforced her will on you is ridiculous.
Also, it’s a game and a WIP thread. It’s literally here for people to comment on the story and how it is unfolding and, given how many options the author has given us to express our resentment towards Tahlia I think it’s a valid option in the author’s mind. If it isn’t engaging to you, just ignore the posts about it.
