I hope that, along with killing Eli, it will be an option at the end of the insanity path.
That is not entirely true, the mc can get into at least one argument with Eli about him supporting the Arcadians, been a while since I played the demo though but I think it can happen somewhere around the cemetary scene.
It also seems that Eli knew all along the escape attempt wouldn’t work as they act really, really suspicious during the earlier parts of the escape scene. They were probably already keeping an eye on the mc for Thalia back then too.
Edit: Like, for the record, Eli was resurrected too. That was kind of a big plot point. Why y’all assuming she can just leave whenever? Either she heals you, or you die, and then she’s next.
it’s a reasonable theory but i don’t think eli had to be a plant to know the escape plan wasnt gonna work. shit i could have told them that, they were making all these intricate plans to run from a telepath all respect to mc it simply was not their finest work!
In fairness to MC, I’m pretty sure any plan they came up with would be doomed to fail. I’m pretty sure MC even knew any plan would fail, probably why they just went for it
On a vastly different note, I just can’t stop thinking about how much this song suits a Leonmancing MC. Like all the lyrics about fire and dying?? Miss Taylor have you been reading this book?? sorry just needed to gush continue on
So stopping a suicidal person from doing a mistake they can’t really take back is now selfish and horrible and “it’s their choice”? Ok, got it, sure, yeah, good thing people around me didn’t think that way tho.
This is the first time I see someone mention finding the Mage’s mother (don’t know if there was any before that’s why I said “I see”). Sometimes I forgot that they came from a noble house not an orphan :v
I’m pretty sure it was confirmed this wasn’t the case by the author earlier here somewhere; I’d wager ‘‘rat out the Mage to someone who is dangerous’’ is an intentionally malicious design, which it’s been confirmed Eli does not have towards the Mage:
I think the reason they acted as nervously as they did was because they genuinely knew the consequences for a failed escape attempt and were afraid Tahlia would hurt the Mage over it (or worse), which we can assume from their other dialogue is probably one of their worst fears.
As for healing the Mage, tbh, I do agree they would do so regardless of the mage’s own wishes, even if it could be considered selfish/prolonging their suffering by some; in general, when it comes to the Mage, Eli seems to care about them so much that it kinda loops right back around to being selfish/willing to do immoral things to keep them safe (most extreme example being the massacre route, where they assist the Mage in killing the entire cast, even reluctantly) If they’re willing to do that to keep the mc alive and with them, then Eli probably cares too much about the mc to let them die, even if that’s what the Mage themselves wants.
Sometimes I like to think about how suspicious the Mage must look to like… absolutely everyone in their life because it is hilarious. Of course everyone thinks there’s something up with them, no matter how forgiving they are! At this point it’d be more surprising if the Mage didn’t want at least one person dead. And I mean that extremely affectionately I love forgiving Mages who are the embodiment of the image of that cat being screamed at.
Watching y’all drag my fav Eli through the mud for Tahlia’s actions.
Dis Cos Tan
Edit: Eli put a sword to Tahlia’s throat and woulda killed her for the Mage if it weren’t for the fact Tahlia needs to be alive for the Mage to be alive. They’re a jailer as much as Ante is a competent spymaster.
Also, my guess is that we haven’t really locked into whether we’re pro-Arcadia or pro-Param. Given that we can talk a bunch of shit about Arcadia and still choose not to run. Or say a bunch of nice things about Arcadia and run anyway.
Running so early definitely feels like an impulsive Mage decision. Not running is more of a long con, imo. Like, the Mage just got the one person they can trust with their life back. Of course Tahlia is going to keep a close eye on them. The Mage is going to have to be smart or lucky to escape Arcadia, and right now, they’re neither.
I think my mage would be pro-Arcadia but anti-Thalia I want to help the Arcadians rebuild because they’ve faced a lot of injustices in the past from having their nation destroyed to basically being enslaved. I don’t agree with Thalia’s plans and if there is a choice to take power from her and lead the Arcadians, I’m taking it.
Considering they can only do so, unless on the Param route, by going batshit insane I’d say the mage remains perpetually unlucky because their luck turning right around the time they go insane is completely worthless. Maybe insanity will make it too painful or even outright impossible for Thalia to read their mind but of course going insane also means it becomes worthless to the mage as well.
And on the Param route it is just trading one prison for another, mc will never be lucky.
Mc doesn’t have time, or in my case even the desire for a long con, considering that insanity is the only viable option in that case which also makes it too little too late and completely worthless to boot since we cannot even kill Eli on that path nor likely commit suicide at the end.
Good for you, my mc wants no leadership and nothing to do with either Arcadia or Param.
It does prolong mc’s suffering as whenever they are healed they’re forced to use the parasites again, which is also torture thanks to Thaubal and an undead knight and then they are right back to needing to be “healed” again which is also super painful. I can see how that cycle could lead to insanity eventually.
Maybe not game-mechanics wise but my mc is pretty sure he’s anti both and wants the parasites out.
