I found a error in the adult scene I chose Orren as a man but It said "stroke his #### with your clammy hands so she will the shut the #### up
( it feels weird commenting this lmao)
Obviously game is amazing, no big shock there considering the authorâs orevious work. Although, maybe Iâm just dumb but like⌠this doesnât seem like it lines uo that well with the canon of AKFD.
That said, your character writing in the previous game was fantastic so having it in a story where the characters arent mutually exclusive and where it seems⌠less fatalistic. Is a huge turn on.
My only critique so far is that I donât like the different options for your motherâs abilities being tied to difficulty. Personally I felt bad oicking Changeling for character purposes when I saw that Easy tag.
And now, for a question Iâm almkst certain you wonât be able to answer, is there any chance we see the MC from AKFD or some link to them? I could imagine the Warriorâs Scythe or the Cytomancerâs Grimoire being cool easter egg stuff you could out in later in the game as an uber buff but something that is hard to find or simoly requires knowledge of AKFD.
Dandy is unsurprisingly the most popular romance option, as sheâs the first one introduced (and there are no other female ROs for about 100,000 words of story).
People donât really care about Garrie Berg, my favourite character! Thus illustrating that all of my readers have terrible taste. I will make you appreciate your loving father if it kills me.
People like Sylar the best out of the three major villains. Iâd be interested to hear why â I suspect it may be that she is hot. Itâs especially interesting considering that sheâs the source for what seems to be a major frustration with the game â the random chance on certain choices. Her magical powers are the diegetic reason within the narrative for some choices to have random success/failure chances.
Combat is mixed. An overwhelming majority want a combat system to be in the game, and of those, a small majority want a completely new system. Iâve already begun brainstorming what that might look like â I think I want the system to be more thematically linked to the main themes of the game. I might include options that draw upon the memories of the gods â for example, an option invoking Neorheath would involve healing and regrowth.
I think thatâd be a bandaid rather than a panacea.
You can already do that â the option to skip all fights is available at the start of the game and re-presented if you lose a fight.
Would need a lot more info; I donât have any *gosubs or *gotos near that scene that would obviously cause this bug. DM me with more info if you have it.
Cheers for finding that!
Thatâs a fun idea.
I probably wonât include the MC of the previous game much in this one, but their presence is alluded to by the demon in the prologue. It may come up later as well, but it wonât be a significant part of the narrative as I want to refocus on a completely new story for this game. Iâve thought about including some of the other immortals from the previous game, as presumably some of them might still be around, but Iâve decided mostly against it for the same reasons.
Legitimately did not even occur to me that they have similar names lol. Not sure if itâs a big enough deal to change.
The difficulty is Story difficulty, not Fight difficulty. Changeling is easiest because you see exactly which choices increase your relationships with other characters, so you can more accurately guide the story to focus on the characters you like. Meanwhile, the fights are usually not critical for the story. Life Taker wins fights but is subject to random chance and is blind as to which options the other characters will approve of.
That said, itâs pretty subjective.
Proposed Change to the Class System
Iâve considered removing the âclassâ system entirely and just making changeling the canon option.
Keep the class options.
Make changeling canon and work the other powers in as upgrades later on.

Next Steps
Iâve been on vacation and will need to take a brief hiatus to move into my new house, so the next update will be a while. In the meantime, here are some discussion questions!
All spoilers below.
Discussion Questions
Exam conditions, 2 hours, handwritten. Open book.
In the prologue, do you think Nyeruâs attempts to manipulate Chiron were morally justifiable? (2 marks)
During the night of the lantern festival of Inglory, Nyeru expresses displeasure at how people waste their efforts on ceremonies to please gods that cannot answer them. Do you agree with Nyeruâs point of view? Why or why not? (4 marks)
Yuniper, a priest of the nature god Bo, burns down the city of Pentite. Why do you think he did this? (2 marks)
In an optional scene, Tiana expresses that for there to be pirates like her, there also need to be institutions to steal from. Why do you think she has allied herself with Nyeru, who wants to destroy these institutions? (3 marks)
Pon urges the player to steal from a rich couple who are stranded on the side of the road. Is he justified in stealing from them rather than helping them? (2 marks)
The Divine Right intends to execute Garrie Berg for prototyping a printing press. Why is a printing press dangerous to them? Does this reflect our real-world historical relationship between religion and the invention of the printing press? (3 marks)
Do you believe that Nyeru can be trusted? What does it mean to trust them? Include examples of foreshadowing for ways in which the characterâs trust in Nyeru may or may not be rewarded. (3 marks)
If youâve played A Kiss from Death, you might notice a significant change in personality for Nyeru. Nyeru used to be hedonistic and sensual, but now they are more serious and toned down. Additionally, theyâve changed from identifying as either male or female (dependent on player choice) to being nonbinary, with they/them pronouns. Why do you think these changes have occurred, both within and outside of the logic of the narrative? (4 marks)
Why do you think the main characterâs parents play such an unusually prominent role in the story compared to other popular fantasy narratives? (2 marks)
Who is the best character in the game and why is it Garrie Berg? (75 marks)
I love this idea. It would be an easy way to decide how you want to approach battles; given what the differing gods rule over you could very easily tailor a battle type or style to who you see your MC as.
And since you asked so nicely:
In the prologue, do you think Nyeruâs attempts to manipulate Chiron were morally justifiable? (2 marks)
In my playthrough of the prologue, I always have them play it relatively hands off, the more noncommittal answers seem to suit the ambiguity of both characters best. My Nyeru truly does want Chiron to make up his own mind on how he feels about things and who he wants to be. In the most direct questions I suppose their answers could be seen as evasive (ie âdark thoughts for a boy of 16â) and for the more concrete example the gift left (book of poetry) could just as easily be something left for Chironâs own betterment and not as anything intended for the girl. It is probably because of how Nyeru reacts to the Arcy storyline in the last game, when it comes down to that MC having to decide whether or not to let her sacrifice the child. If you canât make up your mind, Nyeru isnât going to do it for you. If you choose to just let evil happen, their ambivalence as to your choice is also part of the consequences of your actions or inaction. If that bothers you, the guilty conscience is yours, just like the responsibility to stop the wrong that was being done was also your own; Nyeru is a guide at their most involved, and an advisor at their most passive. What you (and Cmiron) do is up to you. You are the active party. So in my playthrough, Nyeru takes the most morally justifiable course, the most hands-off one. Is it perfect? No. But what is?
To a degree. Complacency leads to inaction, and religion being used as soma leads to social stagnation. Still, there was no indication that that is what the situation was in that town and that case. It could have just been a nice tradition that no one really thinks much about, but that makes them feel good or brings to mind happy memories. Who are we to take that from them? Ethically and morally it is hurting no one, and is no more a waste (and is considerably less wasteful) than many things they could be doing otherwise (Christmas trees.)
Loss of power. The population had likely already begun to turn away from the Church of Bo before the Levocera arrived, watching them celebrate the arrival of her and the very practical benefits of the Levoceraâs milk must have felt like they were twisting the knife to him. So, much like many small-minded, unreasonable people, he decided that the way to get them to turn back to him, to give him power again, was to hurt them until they felt they had no alternative. It was meta-bullying.
Donât know, donât care. Captain Roberts can go get bent.
No. Pon is being short-sighted here. We need to do many things while being noticed and recognized as little as possible. Pissing off the nobility and nobility adjacent is going to work directly against that need. Thereâs also the possibility of a âone good turnâ situation if they show up again later; if they remember that you helped them when they needed it, they may do the same for you. Donât poison your own well, you will need the water.
I have my own story (not an IF) where I try to address this (and likely do a terrible job.) The reasons as stated never really vary much. They want to control how much people can learn for themselves because that helps them to control everything else. If you know nothing about economic theory, how do you know that your boss is stealing your wages and your mortgage company is ripping you off? How do you prove that a ten year lease means youâre paying for that car twice over? How do you double check the tax calculation software before you pay? You donât and you canât because you donât even know that or what you donât know. And when itâs the religious elite that are against it, itâs even more sinister than when just the financial elite are because the financial elite really only want to control your way of thinking about one thing; money. The religious elite, on the other hand, want to control your way of thinking and being about everything. Who you are, who they are, what the world is like, how the world should be, how the world could be. If you can read the books they selectively preach to you out of, you can say âheyâŚthereâs nothing about that anywhere in this thing. What are you on about?â (And then they try you as a witch and drown you.)
Nyeru can be trusted up to a point. They have their own agenda and are very clear on what it is. I do think that over all they do mean well, but whether their actions, through us, back that up remains to be seen. Much of Nyeruâs motivation this time seems to be a feeling of guilt; I think they feel that if they had not stepped away that last cycle, things may have turned out different. How they let that guilt drive them may well determine what result they get, in the end, and if they can be content with it. But as Grimâs resistance shows, and the successful rescue of his son without Robertsâ help or doing things the way Nyeru wished to insist shows that they are perhaps too focused on the way they want to do things, to the point where they are no longer really listening to others. That could grow to be a problem.
Again, I think the attitudinal change, and to some degree the depersonalization they seem to have gone through is primarily due to feelings of guilt, as well as added feelings of grief and ambivalence. They may, intellectually, know that what happened isnât their fault, but knowing and feeling are two very different things. They lived through so many cycles, they expected so many more and then suddenlyâŚit was all over. No more cycles. They were at a loose end and had no idea how to deal with it, and no one to help them; they just had to muddle through on their own.
The change to non binary I donât want to speculate much on, because Iâve never felt that way myself. All Iâll say is that Nyeru is very, very old, and has spent a lot of time as both sexes and likely any combination of features they wanted they could manage to manifest. They may truly feel that they are past the need to express themselves via binary language and appearance at all.
I think the MCâs mother is going to have a bit of an advisory role, much like Nyeru occupied in the last game. She may also have connections that will prove to be important later. I think MCâs father served as the initial catalyst for the MCâs joining Nyeru but that his true importance will come later, when weâre ready to do the actual Church toppling, rather than just buzzing around their ears like flies. I would imagine another printing press may well be part of it. In the meantime, itâs really, truly, honestly nice to have some familial support in one of these games. MCâs parents are not horrible (please donât kill them) and we know where they are (please donât kill them) and while not fully on board, still they support what MC is doing (please donât kill them.) Seriously, it makes for a nice change. (Please donât kill them.)
Who is the best character in the game and why is it Garrie Berg? (75 marks)
Dude, seriously? Itâs Garrie Berg! Who doesnât love a semi clueless nerd-dad that gets unreasonably lucky at cards and is nice to ponies?
But what if i want to win the fights and see that outcome? I just like to have option to direct the story the way i want instead of relying on chance not to screw me over(still havenât forgiven XCOM for missing 95% hit chance). This is a minor issue while the save system isa ctive on the demo, but it will cause frustration on full release, even if people are using save manager.
Iâm in favor of this, honestly. Changeling is weird enough and the ability to change shape can add enough to the game that I think it might be better if the story could just assume you had the ability.\
I agree on the God thing, if a God is dead, canât or wonât help you then youâre just wasting times and ressources but I mostly think Nyeru is missing the real point of the festival: Having fun with others and making beautiful looking stuff like the lantern display. The Gods were just a pretext for it, that kind of stuff is an end in and of itself.
Because heâs a hippie and doesnât understand that a town for a human is no different from an Antâs colony.
Possibly because destroying the institutions will make others rise to take its place and with some luck, theyâll be worse at catching pirates. That or itâs a good opportunity to leave Pirate life behind.
Not really, our cause isnât in particular need of funds and those guys never messed with us, why mess with them? He could be justified in not wanting to help them tho, even if helping them is more beneficial, friends in high places and all that.
Probably make censorship harder and when you know you have a secret that MUST not get out, itâs unacceptable. Also new technology showing up while Gods canât show their miracles anymore might make humans less relient on the Divine Right and use technology to replace the hole left by the Gods.
Not really, the IRL Churchâs issue was more about âThe fuck are we gonna do with all those monks we trained exclusively to copy paste books now?â
So far yes, nothing theyâve said is even remotely close to untrue or false this far and generally someone who encourage me to doubt them and be critical of their info and decisions has nothing to gain by actually lying.
A time loop alongside living a lot longer and seeing the gods die probably made the hedonism get old quick.
As for the non-binary stuff, I just assumed it was to be inclusive of whatever Kiss of Death playthrough possible.
Going by your comments so far, Iâd say you just got attached while writing them and it got out of hand.
Also Iâm neutral on the changeling thing but I really like âPrestige classesâ or âclassing upâ in general.
