Are those stats gonna be largely linked or can you build a high Audacity character without being high Thrill? Or vice versa?
I really enjoyed the edited chapter! It was good before, ofc, but you can tell itâs been polished (and I love that we have an option to jump in with the crocodiles!!). My stats are the following (I hope it helps!):
I also looked a little at the code and I saw that, for instance, if you choose not to kiss Angel, you increase his respect for you, but decrease the relationship stat and vice versa if you choose to kiss him. What exactly is the difference between those two stats? Would there a potential conflict if you have a high respect stat but low relationship stat, for instance?
Meant add new option
Not change existing one
@Mewsly, I didnât even think you could get Suave up to 74% in Chapter One! (brb, raising some stat checksâŚ)
Agent Samir Parker is a very suave man! Heâs gotta be when he woos Agent 100!
Second and third playthrough stats:
I have a questionâŚif you fail certain checks, does Angel take you down more, say, lightly than if you donât?
When I failed some checks I remember him only punching the MC or only using the needle.. When I passed every check and he was a hostage, I noticed he punched, then kicked the MC and used the needle.. Do I remember that correctly? If so, itâs such a cool little thing to add.
Every time I replay this demo, it makes me a little bit more excited.
Hereâs my stats! I absolutely loved the updated demo and the additional stat categories. The jumping into the pit was my favorite part!
Sorry if that was a joke and I canât tell, but if it wasnât, Iâd suggest just having some options where there is no suave option, seeing as it looks like to get 74 suave you have to dump literally every other stat.
Also something I noticed looking through the code and playing the game, cunning presently actually has 0 stat checks as of the demo. I obviously have no idea if thatâs indicative of the whole game, but it makes it a worthless stat to take in the first chapter so it feels pretty bad
(side note, I did a quick ctrl+f search out of curiosity, it seems like the the order of most to least used is force>tech>suave>audacity>cunning. However, force has a few checks that are just varies of success, so Iâd say force and tech are probably about the same)
Yes, focusing on only one stat would be a bad idea in the long run, I was just surprised that you could boost it that high at all since I thought the limit was 72. Cunning will definitely come up more often later, and there are stat boosts for Cunning and Audacity in chapter 2 that should even things out.
Although I should make clear that failing stat checks isnât always bad in the game. Sometimes it opens up new opportunities.
Thank you for this. Iâm not much of a stat person but Iâm glad that I donât have to worry about stats too much to enjoy the game.
@Scribblesome
Yes⌠i totally agree with this, i fail a check while trying to get into the gala event⌠and was captured, thus forcing Angel to come rescuing me and then allowing me to take a ride with her :-)
This is a great opportunity for me to say Thank you to Angel , instead of âI hate youâ :-)
Good question. Rel tracks how nice/positive the MC has been towards Angel, and therefore itâs something like âhow Angel thinks you feel about themâ. Respect is a bit tricky - some is gained by impressing Angel, some by their judgment of the MCâs character. In general non-spoilery terms, it affects how highly Angel thinks of the MC, but also how much of a threat they think the MC is. There are upsides and downsides to both high and low respect.
And the reasoning for that particular stats boost is: if you refuse the kiss, Angel is kind of insulted, but also thinks you did it because youâve figured things out. If you kiss them, yay kiss, but youâve also fallen for the olâ honeytrap routine so youâre obviously a sucker.
Oh totally, I agree. My only concern, and the reason I brought it up, was because Iâm just worried how it might feel for readers who are just trying out the game for the first time to fail every stat check in the first chapter because the character they chose to play as didnât take the right stat. First impressions and all that.
