Interesting. I bet I didn’t upload the images! However, the description of the hand is there in the text. Also, the rules for counting your hand are available through the stats screen.
I have uploaded the images now.

{captainlname} gestures for you to step aside with him. In a low tone, he says, “I collect you are to join the prince’s circle, Mr. Duttony.”
When the Duke focuses on you, he pauses as if reviewing something in his mind. Then he steps toward you. You sense those near you taking a subtle step back to give him a clear shot at you.
“You are {lname}, I believe,” he says.
Thank you. I have fixed those variable references.
Hi, all: I am still working away on this game, but I am pretty sure now I will not have it done before the end of January. I am having too much fun getting the MC into scrapes.
I will continue writing and posting updates, and I now hope to have the thing ready to submit for Hosted Games publication sometime in the late spring.

I remember this thread but I was unable to play the demo since it was on dropbox. I never did understand the card game either.
Thank you for the note. I have fixed that reference.
The rules for the card game are always available through a link on the Stats page. Is that too hidden? You can, in any case, move forward by entering any value for the cards in your hand (between 0 and 29) and seeing what happens next.
Liking the game so far!
Thanks! I am working on the next long sequence right now. About 7,000 words in on a 10,000 word chapter. Hi-jinks among the officer class; gambling; intrigue; even a chance to be in a play.
I think this story is amazing and love your writing style. Keep up the good work!
You are too kind!
I have just added the next 10,000-word section, which moves the main character into the complications of society in the garrison town of Halifax.
This is an interesting game. Keep up the good work!.
Oh dear god, this game absolutely amazing. I really need more of this! Nothing else like it, or at least nothing else as well-written. I really like historical stuff, not a big fan of fantasy or supernatural-focused stories. Here’s hoping for an update, even though it’s been a year.
Hi, and welcome to the forum! Thank you for your kind words: I now owe you a beverage of your choice, whether historically accurate or not.
I am chipping away on the next chapter, and your comments have tipped me toward scheduling writing time on this project each morning. I have two “real world” jobs with high expectations, and if I wait to work on my own stuff until the end of the day, I am too tired and cranky.
The coming chapter has theater, intrigue, romance, conflict, and a series of branches that test the MC’s skills and wit. Stay tuned!
I expected it was abandoned as most of the ones I like are, so yay on any progress at all!
I am getting a lecture from my spouse that I am a terrible person for not having gotten this game done sooner. She wants to find out what’s going to happen to all the characters!
(So do I…)
I just made a tweak update to the playable beta, fixing a few issues I ran into while looking through a couple of the pages. An update that adds the next set of scenes is coming in a few days.
Bad label, choices picked were Perhaps the madame can help and I dont have much experience. Otherwise cool game, looking forward to an uninterrupted time with a certain bed stealer.
Thanks for the catch.
Yeah, looks like that file may be missing. Hang on.
