Yeah, honor and glory was a big thing back then because was hereditary. And that bring a lot of future for your family. No taxes, access good jobs and court and a far better judicial system and law. However they have to be Limpios de sangre clean blood not Muslim or jew blood in several generations if not no possibility of go to Indias. But We are off topic this is not a game set in Spain lol.

All true, only Australia, Antarctica and the Northern bits of Canada are worse death worlds on this planet compared to our countryside in its natural state. @Rogar the text is from Heart of Darkness and the swampy hellhole it describes is not the Netherlands (though make it colder and it could be) but the Congo Rive in the heart of Africa.

The description is about the Thames River actually. I avoided making any references to it for a reason and the reaction was suitably hilarious.

Was it not the point of Heart of Darkness that it presented both the Congo and the Thames? One more literally than the other, of course, but that’s what I seem to recall. The story draws parallels between England and Africa and the corruptibility of people, especially the lack of a difference between the ‘brute’ natives and the westerners.
Then again, literary analysis is a highly subjective field and perhaps overrated as a focus in the classroom.
I’d say English class but we had it in Finnish class instead, analysing Finnish classics. English was always more about the language itself and not literature, but the same applies in all mother tongue classes I think.

Of course I’ve never been to Sweden, are cute Swedish guys at all approachable?
In any case I the climate would make sure there’d be a lot less on display that I can oggle.

Whoops! You’re right, well at least I still recalled the work. Honestly the line that made me remember is this one: " The dreams of men, the seed of commonwealths, the germs of empires …" it’s probably the most famous one out of the entire work too, if even I remember. 
Can I retire as an even wealthier commoner (though my character’s case the wealth would need be managed by his family, spouse or a good banker) to some sub-tropical place, preferably an island, with lots of cute guys?
A female contact? And what do you mean be “charm”, merely persuade or go all the way?
That’s what I’m hoping for, superior tactics and hopefully some new world troops as well.

I was mostly playing on an old Finnish joke about all Swedes being gay. Mostly because of the one place Finns go (Stockholm) has a particularly flowery accent, and Swedes are still consider in the same manner in Finland as nobility might be in former monarchies: foppish dandies. Also it’s an easy jab to make when we lose to them in ice hockey.
But I think I saw an article a while back that Sweden is also one of the most friendly places in the world for all sexualities, a liberal haven of sorts.
Of course in the winter months you’ll have less to ogle, but the two months of summer could be nice.
We’ll see.
Yes, and I mean show interest and fuel her fancy for a handsome young hero officer from the Empire. I’m actually debating on whether I should allow the player to mislead her and string her along to get to the big advantage from the observer path. That should probably be a thing, although you’d have to be quite the jerk to do that.
I believe Rogar was referring to the video I posted. Although “superior tactics” will certainly be a thing you learn as well on that path.
Funnily enough, I’ve been jogging my memories of Heart of Darkness recently, because I’m definitely using some influence from it in the observer path. So this whole conversation suddenly popping up feels absurd.

Okay “The horror, the horror” is probably the best known line, but “the germs of empires” is what I remember most fondly and therefore best. 
Or an honest gay man apparently, my mc just doesn’t fancy women that way at all.
