I am up for the task, I even forgot about orc servant path, plus I have new race in plans to be added which shall open up after main story ends. However from effectiveness and production quality point of view, separation seems like a better solution. If I treat each race as a standalone game without following the same structure, like 1-2 choices or game start from birth and survival, then I’m pretty sure I can create more interesting story. It will take longer time, but quality will be higher.
Plus, if I make games separate, I have an idea for the 5th game where the characters unite for the greater cause. It will be a hell for me to make them all playable in a single story that can be played from different perspectives, but I suppose fans will like it. Or to make my life easier, to choose the leader at the game start, with stats downloaded from original story who you grow from birth, still have different perspectives due to joint discussion, but the leader(you) has a final word for action plan. Choices can affect relationship and morale etc. But keeping personality based on stats like friendlyness in dialogues and reactions to events would be double hell due to limitless “if” options. So i will have to remove it and keep other characters based on their life experience from original story, which I believe is a valid compromise.
However, unique selling point of being able to choose the race players wants to play, or switch to another, see correlations and understand world patterns which greatly improves immersion will be lost.
No worries, like I said earlier I am open for ideas, and If I were completely against it, I wouldn’t have been asking this question. Getting different opinions is helpful. Why do you think it’s better to break it up? Me too is leaning towards this idea because of the reasons mentioned in reply to David, but curious to know why you think so.
I think this way because it let you focus on each story in a more personal level that would make the world building more detailed and let you make unique mechanics in each story like for example a rage state for orc that let them be more powerful the more damage they take but become lass precision
Yes, it rings the bell. It seems there are more benefits than drawbacks to this idea. Plus I will get a chance to implement some of original game ideas for the human race. Alright then, I will for now continue as it is while I am learning since it appears there is an audience have gathered monitoring the game on daily basis. Once I learn all the coding mechanics and get the storylines straight, I will split the game and work on each individually. Thank you for your input!
Lie favored what favored, i die first time playing this game is elf and i die in my character childhood, this is elf propaganda lol. Okay joke aside I love this game where everything is earned like this game instead of just walk in park
Trying to answer you learned to quote, yey! They are favored, trust me ;D Many of you guys don’t understand simple thing this is medieval fantasy. In our medieval times mortality rate under 5 years old was 50%. And thats without dragons and monsters. Now imagine what are your chances in a dangerous fantasy world? I’m a history fan as well. All you need, if you are a baby, act like one. If you are good at it like being super annoying and loud you get a blessing bonus. Capricious children get the most attention.
Elf can become second skilled fighter and mage from playable characters. Plus greater chances to survive to adulthood safely.
Ohh, then you are going to love it even more, because earn it you will, even if it cost me extra hours of work.
I wanted to share with you the upcoming updates since I wasn’t updating the game for over a week now.
To be published this week:
Inventory section with weapons, armor, supplies, equipment, etc
Bestiary section with known creatutes. If I figure out how to make it variable, player will be able to fill personal bestiary with knowledge from libraries and schools.
Then progress will slow down during childhood chapters, because it’s not yet designed plus I’m studying new mechanics like inventory and settlement management. Plus I got myself into another endeavor(not game related) which will be taking some of my attention aside from my job.
Later chapters
The idea of story for teenagerhood for all races is set now. This is where inciting incident will take place and game will be broken down into separate games and stories will start unfolding, take new path and expand the world we will get used to by the time.
So far the most exciting stories are of the orcs and dwarfs. Every race will have 1-2 pet options, it will take en effort to acquire one though.
