Make sure you sit in a private booth (either with Caihong or Tang Ruo) so Jing doesn’t know you’re bidding (not necessary if Mei doesn’t hate you, i guess) When the old woman spins her sob story pick 2,000 gold and I'll give up. then, once she sends you gold, mock her and keep bidding. You’ll end up paying 12500 - 2000 you get, so a little above 10k.

Its from a scene in the auction when ma rin bows to the audience. i know we can chalk it down to ma rin’s personality, but i believe there are many other ways to make a female character appear seductive and have that sex appeal without the mention of her breasts. then again, maybe its just me. it just striked me as something odd beacuse the same thing occured with the twins sent by the mistress into your tribe in the danger zone. one of the twin tries to seduce you using a similar strategy. i have no issue with a woman taking advantage of her physique to gain what she wants but the way it was described in the text made me quite uncomfortable. its still a great book though, dont get me wrong. i wouldnt be subscribed to the author’s patreon/boosty if i didnt want to know more about the characters.

@NickyDicky a small request: could you add a free roam day after the auction, so it’s possible to make a persistent save at the end of free demo? The temporary ones are likely to break when the new stuff is added.

I still don’t get it. Their descriptions were apt and completely in character, the three aforementioned people were described like that because of their promiscuity. You understand that, yet at the same time, you still do not. You were asking why the women in this IF game were so hyper-sexualized yet you can only list three insignificant minor characters who don’t even have a major impact on the plot. I will ask again, of all the things happening in the universe of the Path of Martial Arts (Oppression, slavery, classism, mass murder, rape, genocide, and all other extremely horrible stuff), why are you focusing so much on random women’s breasts?

I, for one, appreciate them seeing something in the work that makes them uncomfortable and raising their concerns with it. That’s good, concrete, and valuable feedback, whether the author decides to take it or not.

Because it seems as you’re trying to get an answer that will validate or invalidate their criticism, based on whatever you considerate as an appropriate response.
No one needs to explain to a random in the internet as to why something makes them uncomfortable, that’s something personal that if the person wants to share they can and if they don’t want to, they don’t have to feel pressured to answer, specially not to you, maybe to Nicky that is the author.
And @Loremaster is right, you, me and anyone should stop centering their focus on this unless we want the actions from moderation to stay or worsen; center into the wip, not onto specific users.

Hmm if buying artifacts is supposed to be alternative qi source, then the current pricing effectively puts a hard stop to it. The base price is roughly 10k 7.5k gold on average for 1 qi. Between 100 points stipend and restaurant profits (presuming the player actually has access to the restaurant still after the time skip and Jing didn’t just get squished by Long Chen) … you’ll make enough money to get 1 qi worth of artifact every 5 game events or so. And that’s if you don’t spend that on other important things like pills, talismans etc
I get impression this was “balanced” only towards MC with haggler/high level money gain talents, if that…?
edit: oh, the cost is random from 5k-10k. Sure, there wasn’t enough of RNG in the game already. But in any case, is anyone really expected to just casually shell out some 20-40k gold to buy the provided supply every few turns? Like… what’s the actual intention/goal here, in terms of player’s ability to obtain qi?

Just because a character doesnt have major impact on the plot doesnt mean it didnt seem like unncessary objectification to me. You are awfully making it sound like I should speak about only the racism, elitism, etc etc in the book because it seems valid to you. I keep stating my opinion and you keep disregarding it. Its almost as if you are fishing for a particular response from me. I said what I wanted to and that is the end of it. It would be great if you agree to disagree.

Every time the book shows of Ma Rin I can renew my hatred for her, so I’m fine with it. It’s only sexual if you make it sexual and whatnot. Can’t even be efficiently evil with her so what’s the point?
