Because a lot of people here find her attractive so they dont care. Plus the POMA world doesn’t really care either look at the MC and Ma Rin

It was never a net positive on the level of getting the sort of EXP that’d otherwise take literal months to gather. It was also never effectively a necessity, given regular ways of advancement are now closed to the MC.

(not to mention killing people would mainly result in producing enemies who’d seek revenge — Demon Queen, Fu Bing’s sister, etc. Hardly a positive when it can get your clan nuked to oblivion and locks your choice of master just to avoid it. And before people go “but i don’t care about my clan”, that was your, limited and all, but still a power base. Having lost it the MC goes effectively from someone relatively wealthy to someone who has no resources of their own and becomes completely dependent on others)

The MC who didn’t throw away their morals is now facing a far more difficult conundrum they did previously, especially with quite outrageous expectation placed on their shoulders, to advance another two stages in just 6 months.

I mean, making enemies because you killed someone isn’t something that goes away just because you got the Qi system. So again, the situation hasn’t really changed all that much in that regard?

This is true, but it was my understanding that we were talking about MCs that would kill people to advance their powers without a second thought. As per the original comment you responded to.

(Parphrased: People get a taste of power and suddenly everyone else in the world is dead meat.)

For those MCs, the situation hasn’t really changed? They just have a bigger incentive to do what they would’ve probably done in the future anyway, and an imposed deadline on their progress. But nothing about them as a person is really pushed to change?

If we’re talking about MCs that actually try to retain some semblance of morals, then yes, the situation is pretty fucked.

This is intended. Poma has always been ‘the world is fucked up, being evil is easy, while being good requires sacrifice’. There obviously will be ways to accomplish what you need to accomplish without becoming demonic, just not as easy (though I guess it wouldn’t really matter on heavenly/overlord)

Oh btw, Nicky, when you’re checking books at the library, you need to click on the Summary of the Nine a total of nine times if you want to read about all the clans. Which seems odd, since it’s a single book. Also kinda sucks since I think that means you spend 45 points just trying to read all the options.

Also, I think it might be worth adding the info presented in the books to a separate tab in the stats menu? That way you can keep track of which books the MC has already read, and the player can just refresh their memory easily if they forget something instead of having to checkout the book multiple times.

LOL, now this is definitely not intended :joy:

You’re right, the negative consequences were always there. My point was, now killing has also very strong positive incentive, since it provides a lot of power. So that’s the change, what was largely pointless or even negative is now quite different, to the point it can make even “kind” MC think twice.

Speaking of difficulty levels, i’ve found that on the ‘mortal’ difficulty at least, after you get the Qi stone the narrative doesn’t really match the mechanics – the MC talks about “getting back to where they were” which was maxed out middle-houtian. But such character had ~1800 xp (6 areas of 300-320) while the Qi stone gives 1000 xp, meaning MC gets roughly to half of what they were, early-houtian or so. Is this intentional and the MC is for whatever reason talking bollocks, or an oversight due to amount oriented more towards easier difficulties?

Yep, it’s a balancing issue. I’ll probs solve it by having pre-expo exp matter after the coma

I think it would be solved more easily by giving your stats turned into exp like if total stats = 300 gives 300 exp, if total stats 1800 gives 1800 exp and on top of it +300 (the equivalent to +50 on all stats, since we become slightly stronger than a mid houtian).

It may be an unpopular opinion but I like the way it is and if and for the sake of balance I don’t think it has to change

The problem right now is, on mortal difficulty it effectively enforces single build (350 strength and agility, 300 perception and oops, that’s all your xp gone) and there’s nothing interesting in having no real options. I mean, you can do it with other configurations, but it’ll cost you extra Qi point or quite a bit of damage.

Plus, going by the narrative i’d guess at this point the game expects your MC to have this kind of stats at the very least across the board and not just in half of the attributes, and the encounters are written accordingly.

Yes, like fsix said, you are put into a fight where you need to have high stats or use Qi, since it’s a limited resource (does not recover naturally), it’s really bad at mortal level, of course you can win if you make the others stats garbage, I don’t mind it for the plot, but the game would have to stop assuming the mc is strong, cause at the end of the game he would be a lot weaker in fact.

I think it would be much more fun if You let the player decide what is their family name and what kind of martial arts their family specialise in.for example :

Family name:Zhang,Liu,Yang,Huang.

Specialise martial arts:Sword Technique,Hand technique,Staff Technique,Spear Technique,Dagger technique,hidden weapon techniques,Poison technique

Just a suggestion tho cause I think it would still be fun even though you repeat the game 10 times over

This would be a LOT more writing work and would change the story a lot, but if you like this type of game I recommend Aura Clash
