Yeah but let’s just say she can kill us with a sneeze

I have to say, as much as I like Long Chen as a character, it’s kinda awkward interacting with him because my character is basically identical to him, not only in appearance but also in personality.

Of course, that might change after the recent revelations the Wu MC had, but from my understanding, Long Chen’s character seems to be an archetype that many players design their MC to be?

Like, weirdly enough, I find my Wu’s interactions with him to be weirdly boring compared to literally every single other character, and I’m not sure why. I think it might be because Long is in this weird limbo where he’s too friendly to have a rivalry with but too prideful to be a friend. So my Wu ended up being weirdly ambivalent/indifferent towards him.

“Blow him up” requires to agree to Mei Mei’s request and not to reveal it to Chen. Or to put it simpler, you need to have Mei Mei’s bomb in your inventory.

To “Toy with Ai” you need Ai’s opinion of MC to be 40 or less.

The other option has no requirements, it simply greys out after you’ve already selected it once.

It’s cute they think their possessiveness is supposed to be a factor to a future emperor/empress. But in this case i’d hope MC is at least granted option to give them an ultimatum, “either you will agree to share or you can fuck off, i’ll pick instead those who do” and follow through. Because it feels quite off in a game where you can have zero morals, to be limited to some particular romance model, when even your own father is known as “Whore Chao” (and your previous incarnation had 9 wives who were selected for their greatest potential)

The thing is even when you will be at your prime you can’t outright force them to be with you so even if they can’t hurt you will not have them. And yea due to the fact that they have their own pride they will prolly never accept a harem relationship some of them would rather die and Ruo is just as talented as you are for example.

I mean, they all might literally walk away then. They’re all quite proud in their own ways, you demanding their love is going to piss them off.

Like, it’s got nothing to do with morals and more to do with what “romancing” them means for each of their characters.

Though, if you end with zero ROs triggered, you could probably go for a Harem/concubine ending, just probably with none of the ROs.

The author said he doesn’t want to add even more to code in with trying to add in poly/harem content for the ro’s. Plus I think he said he not even into that kind of thing but don’t quote me on that one

That’s fine, it just means they’d be adding to MC’s qi supply down the road. I just feel the player should have option to make a choice like that (and face the consequences) because they can have their MC possess (potentially excessive) pride as well and not like to be effectively forced to limit themselves by someone they view as lesser.

Well yea but if niki add a route like that it will prolly be a no-romance route since it will be very long before MC reach that level.

I mean, I feel like to enter into any serious relationship with the ROs, the MC can’t view themselves as “above” them or the RO as “lesser” than them. It’s something that all the ROs would pick up on real quick if they did. I can’t think of a single RO in which being seen as “lesser” wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

Like, do you think the MC would be able to properly romance a Tang Ruo who thinks the MC was his inferior?

It’s too bad that a new RO is introduced, since it is presented so late in history (300k words late :skull:) This RO will have almost no development

I mean, the Book is called “The Beginning”. Presumably, there are plans to write more. And honestly, none of the ROs proper romances have started as of yet amyway.

bro, mei is introduced almost at the beginning and her route only has like 4 scenes in 300k words, a new RO will have at most 1 extra scene…

I mean… That’s my point? The new RO being introduced so late doesn’t really matter because none of the romances have been super developed in this book. Romance isn’t the focus of this Book.

I don’t think this is true at all – for one, after the timeskip MC objectively is a superior being to the most of them (Tang Ruo might be an exception, given the comment he’s apparently close to developing his own seed). And second, the concept of being superior/inferior is built into the game world culture. I’d wager most relationship in this world are built with the understanding one of the partners is “better”, be it due to their heritage, martial prowess etc. To take the most obvious example, you don’t believe anyone (excluding MC for a moment here) who would be selected as Ruo’s bride would view themselves equal to the Celestial Emperor, or that Ruo himself would view them as such, do you?

The idea that “you can’t have romance if you don’t view them as equal” is a paradigm from our own world and romance model, but it makes little sense to require it in a world which was built different from ground-up and what’s more, that difference is supposed to be the point.

Well I mean there’s still a plenty of content left. Niki said before that there are around 10-15 15k words updates left. So at least an entire book’s worth left lmao.

I feel like we’re talking past one another? You’re talking about the world and it’s culture, while I’m specifically talking about the ROs?

Like, yes, your example of a hypothetical arranged marriage for Tang would be accepted within the world as a conventional relationship. But Tang wouldn’t love this hypothetical bride? Tang has made it very clear that he likes people who are self-assured and confident, and don’t bow and scrape to him 24/7. Like, very conspicuously, Tang’s opinion of our MC never drops despite how often we can be rude or challenge his superiority. Tang is very much attracted to the idea of someone being his equal.

From what we’ve seen of the ROs, none of them would enjoy a relationship in which they are constantly reminded that they are of lesser status than the MC.

did the “hotel massacre” mission get removed in this update?

no i did it last time
it is still there
but just to be sure do you mean the massacre of the 3 chicken inn?

I mean, people’s attitudes and views are influenced/shaped by the world and culture they’ve been raised in, and by views and attitudes of people who have raised them. So these are important factor to consider, and i don’t think the ROs are somehow immune to it. It’d make very little sense for them to be. And while they can certainly want an equal as their partner, the MC simply can’t meet this requirement.

It’s not even a matter of being reminded – the ROs are going to have to cope with knowing for the fact they aren’t reincarnation of a true “god” MC is with all physical differences that entails, and that in most cases their social status is also lower. If it’s something their pride supposedly doesn’t allow them to accept, or prevent them from being happy, then i don’t see such relationships working out at all. “We’re equal” in such pairing is going to be empty platitudes, for the most part.

It’s not equality when one side can literally sniff the other out of existence at any moment, like some line of good cocaine.
