He is Burt Reinolds and Herald is a young Brad Pitt ā¦ At least for me Herald wins for a landslide. And I donāt like how the relationship with Ortega goesā¦ Is not healthy is focused in the past and stuff cannot change. I hope he she finds a new love or something and could become more positive.

And I like their dynamic the most because she canāt read his mind. I think it would be exhausting to be able to read your partnerās mind all the time. The shared history is so good and I like that he calls out her bullshit.
Herald is like an adoring puppy and it works for me in other games/settings but I think it would be terrible for my Sidestep. Sheās so snarky even when she isnāt being a villain Iām afraid sheād make him cry.

I think my mc needs someone idealist and adoring puppy. Also Herald seems like a perfect sponsored type hero I could be his manager and make money from publicity and movies.
Sadly I think game will go for tragic route.
I donāt think Herald will let your mc, once he sees the true monstrous freak any mc is under their mask/clothing. 
In my case, apart from the entire US Federal government, Herald is my mcās primary ārivalā exactly because he seemingly effortlessly has/is everything my mc ever wanted (to be) but can never have, no matter how much effort he puts into it.
Developing an actual crush on the boy was never part of his plans and is definitely going to be an added complication.
Who isnāt? Though before, as Sidestep many seemed to foolishly believe my mc used to be a Hero. 
But the mc canāt because they canāt let anybody come close enough to see them for the monster they truly are.

the regen are used as tool by the farm . They look like peoples but have weird tattoo and are empty shell . Peoplesā¦are freaked out by them . Cose they are not normal . They are controlled and made in secretā¦and nobody know how or why .
its a governement things , its a secretā¦a farmā¦whatever . The point is : the unknown is always scary . Always unnacceptable . Always suspicious .
And here you have a world of hero , vigilantĆ© and vilains . Those who follow the laws , Submit to the governement like the ranger . Those who donātā¦have to find work elsewhere , or stay under the radarā¦or be forever hunted .
The angst , isnāt about her origins or body alone . Its more then that . Its the mental stateā¦of someone who was made , who is disconnected with the worldā¦with their own body and with those around them . This isnāt your run of the mill usual MCā¦who goes around , socialize and flirt . This is an mc that was made for a purpose , was experimented uponā¦that left them with scare and nightmares . an MC that is hunted by those who made them , an MC that canāt share their secretsā¦cose who know who gonna report them !

I meanā¦just look at our present day . Peoples canāt stand each others colour of skinā¦ethnie and language . WHat do you think would happen if a lab was making regen and using them as weapon ? in Los Diablosā¦everything seem to be controlled by the governement . And the MCā¦has pretty much nowhere and none to turn to .

I understand that from a literature perspective and plot wise. However as a game and in character my character is in the process of doesnāt seen as a robotic sell She sees her as a person. So I donāt get why everyone will consider her a monster and break with her him for that.
I understand that socially would be a pariah but a ro will accept her.
Still my objective is make my character believe in herself and see her soul and look forward in the future. Revenge or love is secondary

Summary
thats one reason why I love this book . You can play your mc as you wantā¦one who is hopeful and all .
the regen arenāt robotic . They are organic , homewhever nobody know how they are controlled . Like how do they even moveā¦if there is nothing in there . No consciencenessā¦yāknow .
The mc fear rejection from her old teammate , for good reasons . She never become one of the team (which is something that show up in the story)ā¦because of what she is . She couldnāt blurt out her origin without her creator or the governement coming and take her away .
And it did show in book 1 flashbackā¦that even with all her precaution , they still found herā¦they still took her back , experimented back on herā¦and locked her away . And she was extra carefulā¦made friends and allies . And it wasnāt enough .
Ah but thats a matter of perspective . Take Steel for exemple , the mc never submitted to the governement as he did and so did Ortega . The mc never told them why , and steel because of that is super suspicious of them . Now imagine if they learned āHey! guess what ? We are not humanā¦we are an experiment made by the farm ! Great right ?āā ā¦

How do you think he react knowing that his mcā¦isnāt a human at all ? an experiement , a thing from a lab ? thinkā¦that bieber cheer would fadeā¦and he wonāt see the mc the same way ever again (or have a heart attackā¦wich IāM hoping for lolol ) .

Thereās certainly angst involved in how the MC was treated from birth, but I think the entire point of the game is that the Farm is wrong and the Re-Genes are as human as anyone else. Because we canāt singularly point to them being ācreatedā as inherently horrible, since processes like IVF are similar. I think the game stresses the MCās poor mental health because the Farm abused and dehumanised them so much that the MC and all the Re-Genes genuinely believe (as far as weāve seen) that theyāre sub-human.
It doesnāt make a lot of sense for Malin to stress how human the MC is, through internalised views and behaviours (like distancing yourself from people you care about because you donāt think you deserve it) that most people understand, just to turn around and go āsyke! youāre actually inherently a monster who isnāt human in the slightest!ā. Sure, the MC might do that to themselves, but I donāt think the narrative so far has done anything to support that view.
Ortega, to the MCās surprise, will do absolutely anything to help them because they care about the MC that much; Chen, past his surface-level suspicions about the MC, does actually trust them, has no problem (when theyāre not arguing) telling them he viewed them as part of the team and, most importantly, tried to find the MC after Heartbreak. Same goes for Herald (and possibly Argent later on) - the MC usually thinks itās Ortegaās fault Herald is concerned for the MC, when actually Herald cares because thatās who he is as a person. Sure, not everyoneās trustworthy, but the narrative goes out of itsā way to show the MCās paranoia isnāt always right, and the MC can choose to either accept that or not.
Also, I hinted at it above, but I honestly donāt think the Re-Genes are being controlled by anything supernatural or particularly technological. I think theyāre all heavily abused and dehumanised for birth and, like many IRL survivors/victims of abuse, a lot of them canāt escape that cycle of abuse. And I think the MC is a good example of the fact that escaping your abusers doesnāt automatically mean you stop being affected by your abuse.
Now, I expect a lot of the stuff I said above to not be 100% accurate, but nothing in this demo or the previous game makes me think weāre meant to see the MC (and by extension, the Re-Genes, and also Argent) as any less human than anyone else in the game.
