Hey there, just wanted to give my utmost praise to this game again - one of those I’m definitely going to be spending money on.

The one suggestion I have would be to perhaps somehow make more of a distinction between MCs traumatizing memories from the Heartbreak incident/after the Heartbreak incident, and those from their early past before ever working with the rangers. Maybe it’s just me, but I like to build a whole story inside my head about my character’s past, and not being sure which memory is from where messes up my inner timeline and frustrates me sometimes. For example, I got stuck a few times just trying to figure our whether or not the MC was kidnapped by people that held them captive in their early past after the Heartbreak incident, or not.

New to the forums so glad I found this. Haven’t been playing these games long so I wasn’t sure how often the next book never gets made or how long it takes. Loved 1. And this looks great too.

One thing I noticed is, if during the auction you run into argent and do the Vulcan mind meld with her. Then have a conversation with her. Then decide to work with her, when you get out of your mind, you have almost the exact same conversation with her again.

From what I understand (and someone correct me if I’m wrong), the timeline goes like this:

  • MC is born/created/bred (however Re-Genes are made) by the Farm and trained in the use of their abilities
  • MC escapes the Farm (somehow, I don’t think it was ever explained) and begins working with the Rangers
  • Heartbreak incident happens, the Farm kidnaps the injured MC
  • MC escapes again (somehow, I don’t think this has been explained yet either), then goes along with the deception that they were KIA during the Heartbreak incident
  • MC bides their time setting up their villainous debut until they possess Argent during the opening of Fallen Hero 1.

The new Mortum scenes… ouch, my heart. Just, all kinds of ouch.

One thing. When we tell Mortum " A few years before … Sidestep" we’ve as good as admitted our real identity, and if/when we reveal our face later it shouldn’t come as new information.

@malinryden Running the auction maze again…

Continuity Issue

When we head backstage to steal the machine after taking the gun from the auction stage

“Now for the big, heftier target, you take a quick look around to make sure nobody is watching, then heads backstage.”

we are directed to label:backstage and we seem to forget what we came for, and uses the same text as if we just cluelessly followed Argent here.

Oryx… no, Lady Argent mutters something to herself, the outline of her thoughts an angry cloud in the dark. She walks over to a large cannister-like container, grabbing hold of it with both arms.
Is she stealing something? It almost looks that way, she heaves it towards one side of the room, then places an object in the far corner. A small, round one.

slight pathing error

If we choose to infiltrate the auction for both items, and choose to “keep track of the buyer and steal it from them later”, or “I will simply buy the gun”, when we launch the attack the machine is supposed to be on stage, but we are directed to the path where the gun is still on stage.
At the point “Now. Now you need to get going.” we should only be directed to label:stealthegun if auctionearly is true. Also the possible event of taking the gun from the buyer needs to be added before the label:stealmachine path if ‘companymangun’ is true.

Nitpicky continuity issue

For MCs who chose the ‘turn off the dampeners and sneak in quietly for the machine’ path, there is still repeating dampener turn-off text inside (An intention. A surge of will and focus strong enough to cut across the room like a beacon. And then the room is plunged into darkness and chaos. And with a ‘pop’, your mind is freed from your constraints.) , while the dampeners should already be down when MC is coming in.

Repeating text

Nitpicky continuity issue

If we came here as a boss just to crash HG’s party, we get to see Argent and Shroud fighting as soon as we get here, and shouldn’t have this:

You’ve got Dr. Mortum’s gun, that’s what you came for, you need to run before the chaos dies down.

If we came for the gun and only learned about the regenerator after getting to the casino, we shouldn’t have been able to tailor our plans / timer for both items, as indicated below. (infiltrate as villain path)

a steady reminder that you’re here for your own sake. Not for anybody else. Well, unless you count the favor you are doing Dr. Mortum, but getting his gun is just a minor piece of the puzzle.

It’s one of the items you are here to steal. One. Which leaves you with an interesting quandary, but one you were prepared for.

Everything else I’ve gone through seems to be aligned.

Also: not entirely sure if this is a bug or a feature, but should the option to bail be open to the MC if they want the regenerator but haven’t got it yet?
There are several instances where the MC can just straight up leave the auction without even making an attempt at the regenerator, despite knowing about it. Should I report these?

@Rebelmaiden Good luck with that, since there may or may not be some of Heartbreak’s memories mixed up in our head too…

You forgot when you stopped the Nanosurge (which I assume was what brought you to the Farm’s attention).

So based on the post-auction scene where the MC decides to meet Dr. Mortum in person, it’s clear that Dr. Mortum knows exactly who the MC is and, more importantly, their former identity as Sidestep. Considering just how careful the MC has been in keeping their identity hidden in general (especially compared to Ortega, who both the MC and the MC’s puppet can joke is terrible at keeping their identity hidden), this must mean that Dr. Mortum must have info about all the Rangers.

I’ve never done a romance path with Dr. Mortum and never really questioned them about how they know Ortega’s identity. For those who have, has Dr. Mortum revealed yet how they know all this info?

Mortum is getting scary af. I have not even seem most of the “oh noes” paths in this yet (y can’t I find them dang it or maybe i’m just that twisted i’m not so fazed). Doc knows WAY too much to be feeling safe or trusting.

It only really occurred to me this morning after having played dozens of playthroughs of both the first game and the demo. I never really questioned it until I reread a section concerning the MC never taking their mask off even when they were extremely tired after a tough fight and another section where the MC thinks about how they disliked going out with Ortega in the past because Ortega was so bad at hiding their identity.

Well when you take in consideration that the Doctor was a villain that had apparently encountered Ortega a few times that they’d have a general profile on all of the Rangers and any known associates included they built over time. Even if all the information they had on sidestep at first was just height, weight, etc. They’d still probably be able to deduce they were a somewhat competent telepath after both the Heart Break, and nano surge incident. Also seeing as how rare telepaths seem to be I doubt theres more then a handful if that in the world… I had more to add but don’t know how to blur it out since it may be a bit spoiler ish for some people.

If you want to do the spoiler thing, select the text you want to blur and then click the little gear icon above the reply box and choose the “blur spoiler” option.

Like so.

I hope the author doesn’t forget about the secret crush on Ortega ending. I got it on the 1st book, (no kissing in hospital due to beating the snot out of the poor girl). I held her hand and the status changed to “its complicated.” The demo doesn’t include that aspect at all. I notice you only get the romantic alley scene if you say you were a thing or whatever. I hope this makes sense.

It is possible to end book one with the “Secret Crush” relationship tag intact (which to me sounds like Friends with some complicated feelings that Ortega–in theory, anyway–shouldn’t know about…right?), but for the time being that’s not what is being focused on with the alpha since this relationship variable is more of a “flavor” than “substance” to the story at this point in time. Broad strokes to build up the backbone is the current goal.

For real, tho, I’m looking forward to being able to maintain that Secret Crush tag later on. You know… For the drama.

Wow, I didn’t notice that in their post. Reading conprehension is hard… anyway, I love the building tension of my MC playing the cold, heartless villain that hates himself for wounding her. Makes Ortega suspicious though. It hurts my chest in a good way.

I can’t figure out how to reveal my identity to anyone besides Mortum.

You can’t reveal your identity to anyone else yet. Although if you are going to get the regeneration machine at the auction and decided to try to share it with argent you can reveal your secret and your identity to her if you want to

It is probably a good thing. It turns out I am a super villain that is very very bad with secrets! If you are cute and give me a smooch or two, I am all for ratting myself out…

That lack of the options to completely undermine my own existence is probably the only reason I make it though these games!

I revealed my secrets to both and all the data. My character would reveal to anyone except Ortega. Because Totally tired of Ortega as a character that never was for him at all. and Still has zero interest on him. He is too hard trying to smooch. With my character slowly going away annoyed. I mean to flirt with Herald she has to enduring Moustache man And then My character start flirting with Argent in Doom disguise. Then Is totally for Mortum in Jasmine body…

I think Mara will ended divided in 3 because she is confused scared and in love for 3 people one with each personality. Mara: Herald. Doom: Argent Puppet: Mortum.
Also now two of those know Mara situation.

I really liked Ortega in the first game. I’m having a harder time getting into them so far now. It just feels like more of the same. Like it isn’t going anywhere. My villain is an arrogant self destructive idiot, if there was anyone he would be waving his identity in front of, it would be Ortega.

But this is only a part of a yet to be completed game. So hopefully by the end I’ll feel like things have gone somewhere in some sort of direction, good or given my history with choices, bad.
