Appearance

Oh, Sasha from Infamous came to mind instantly. While her powers are more specifically some type of mind-control, the substance that she uses to mind-control is akin to a tar/oily/gel in texture and her body creates that substance. She’s almost a reverse to what you described, with the tar going from the abdomen downwards. She does leave some puddles(?) of tar though. (Since Sasha appearance is too… risquĆ©, I rather play it safe and keep it out of the thread)

Husk

And well, to the bin that sketch goes but, honestly I’m kinda interested on how can I apply some of the details that I had thought on a more second skin-like. Here is a very crude recreation of my paper sketch of Dime/Husk.

I mean, I’m a real freak, I’m not normal. And since I cannot get the crushing cold stares from Beth (cries in having an unrequited, hopeless, doomed crush), I’ll take getting crushed by Surpass. (I’m definitely not right in the head)

I want to be crushed by both Beth and Surpass.

That drawing is great!

Also, Infamous the IF on here has an extremely minor character named Sasha, so I was confused on when the heck she got super powers in a slice-of-life IF :joy:

Glad? I would be the opposite of that. What use have it all of it does not cover the whole body? One can then be more easily identified by skin tone then.
And then it would not give good protection against smaller stuff.

That is exactly as I said. Weakness would show greatly if dont cover the legs as well. Especially in a skirt. Makes me question Hits attacks.

I will go with what Secretary said. For mine it will cover the legs. Otherwise, Hit becomes stupidly silly not targeting obvious weakness.

Ooooo looks good!

How do you help both Kay and Teddie against Mis/Hit? Is that a power/fighting style dependent choice or just a stat related one?

I’m pretty sure in that situation you can help both if your fighting style is an adaptable improviser; I didn’t see the option when I was using the powers fighting style, but that’s just in my experience

From a practical standpoint, yes it’s a pretty obvious and relatively easily exploited weakness. From a comfort/psychological standpoint, imagine if you were in a diving suit. Now imagine that diving suit was made of wet paper towels; it’s already a suffocating and constricting sensation, but now you feel your entire body is trapped with no escape.

I see, that makes sense.

I would not care about something being uncomfortable if it could of potentially save my life.

But I play with carpace anyways so… it would cover the whole body regardless.

(And I say that even so I despise skinny jeans.)

I meant moreso in glad as in the MC doesn’t like the feeling of the membrane crawling all over their skin lol

Messed up! I love it.

:eyes: :writing_hand:

Thanks! I’ve mentioned but the reactivity is important to me.

Uhh they’re like. Meat. so. maybe? but they’re also made from whatever Stuff makes up Dime’s powers, so maybe not.

:eyes: :writing_hand:

You know I did not expect how excited it’d make me that somebody code dove and noticed that about those stats

tbf I think it’d be hard to identify dime from their raggy jeans alone.

WHAT

Husk looks incredibly cool!

RE: Hit not targeting the legs. I mean, guy’s kind of an amateur and he’s also only got a slingshot. He figured hitting Dime in what appears to be the face would be more effective than pinging them in the knee.

Writing update/1000 replies

Firstly: Whoa! I’m really flattered by everyone’s attention and interest over the past year and a bit. I’ve always been internally motivated, but I won’t lie: you dream of getting this kind of support as a creative, and I love reading people’s speculations, thoughts, questions, and bug reports.

Secondly: the next chapter is most of the way to done. It’ll probably be roughly the length of the previous one, maybe a bit longer. I’ve been bogged down a bit this last week or so by a mild stomach bug and some sleeping struggles, so progress has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Still, I’m happy with what’s there, especially some stuff that’s really helped one character in particular come into their own.

In terms of completion, we’ll see. By the end of next week on Patreon, I think. I might portion off a bite-sized update which is exclusively CG romance content. As always, thanks for the support.

Little a teaser, as a treat

With gritted teeth and clenched jaw, you physically jerk your head to the side, wrenching yourself free of the Project’s paralysing gaze. The motion is so forceful as to set you stumbling again, swaying to regain your balance.

Whenever that horde of mismatched eyes fixes upon you, you’re instantly transported, whether back to the cell or the very moment you opened the gates of hell.

If anything, absence has only made it worse.

There’s movement at your elbow, and you hastily straighten up, not needing to look to know that Catalyst is en route to refocus you by way of a fist.

A huff of breath that’s probably disappointment. ā€œIf you’re done pissing yourself, little ${mc_sibling}, our friend here is hungry.ā€

Catalyst grabs a long handle affixed to a small square hatch set amongst the bars, and tugs it open. Immediately, the Project rears up on its hind legs, snapping at the opening with one set of jaws. Two taloned paws scrabble at the bars, trying to force them further apart.

It’s far too small a gap for the beast to clamber through, but as the grating screech of claws on metal fills the air, you can’t stop yourself staring, frozen like a deer in the headlights.

The monster is crammed halfway through the doors. It thrashes, hissing and snarling, ichor dripping from its mouths. Bit by bit, it forces itself through the opening.

A clubbing shot to the side of your head almost puts you on the floor. The echoes finish the job. Didn’t see it coming this time.

ā€œFucking pay attention,ā€ Catalyst snaps. ā€œI swear, you got even dumber since you went outside.ā€ Grabbing a fistful of your shirt, he drags you to your feet, then shoves you towards the corpse.

An involuntary shudder runs through your body. Whenever he touches you, you’re flinching for what comes next.

One two three.

Would you guys be interested in a list of augments that you can buy from shady sources….

Oooh yes, that sounds really cool

hehehhe lets play a game: you click on one of the three spoilers below, and thats the augment you get. noooo takebacks!

#1!!!

Too Many Eyes
Owner: Corvin Clan (Originally DPR)
Main characteristic: Toggled specialized sight (thermal, x-ray, etc)
Quality: Low grade
Subject: Given to somebody that the Corvin Clan sought due to some sort of visual impairment, leaning toward desperation to fix it. Scavenged from the corpse of an augment, and then jailbroke (functions expanded and removed based on what they were seeking, changing the limiting factors.) Most likely used as some sort of enforcer, leaning intelligence gathering.
Flaw: Disabling; Grotesque
Whoever receives the augment, which aren’t eyes, but a specialized organ within the throat that generates eyeballs with various abilities, will not only lose their ability to use what is their remaining vision but also may struggle with breathing, eating, swallowing, speaking, etc. Surgeries have to be done to install/reinstall previous eyes: self-surgery needs to be learned or someone on hand must have knowledge of it. Any sort of normalcy is lost, people will recognize the Augment from their modified eyes, often rotting within their eye sockets. Originally the flaws were leaning toward High Maintenance, but due to being jailbroken, new flaws sprouted.

#2!!!

Martyr Cloak
Owner: Private Citizen
Main characteristic: Limbic Regeneration
Quality: Premium
Subject: Very rich slash fortunate slash well-connected private citizen with access to an immense amount of luck. Sought some sort of treatment for beauty/age/etc treatment. Would involve a lot of work, sometimes in a gray zone of legality. Someone with some sort of severe brain, either the person involved knowing it is coming or a family member, would need to enter the iron maiden-like structure for 14 hours a day, to have the rest 10 hours to themselves.
Flaw: High Maintenance; Disabling
The Martyr Cloak, a massive structure the size of four people, requires constant supplies of synth cells to be inserted within the structure. Whoever enters the machine has to stay within it for a majority of the day, but upon exiting it, it is as if the clock has been turned back on them. The internal aging of the brain refreshed as if they had always been 20. It does come with the massive issue that they are permanently unable to really retain or develop any further information, create any real long lasting relationships, or even live a normal life. Would probably cost someone’s yearly salary per usage, which might eventually just lead to whoever using it to stretch out resources if they eventually are not filthy rich anymore.

#3!!!

Subcutaneous Caparace
Owner: American Government (DPR)
Main characteristic: Bullet proof; temperature management; strength
Quality: High grade
Subject: Given to a recipient to a collegial sponsorship by the American Military. A pipeline to do college → military training → DPR-affiliate team, with tests for personality, mental stability, leadership and physical testing. They’re seeking a specific candidate for leadership for a team that would handle rural areas within border cities at the southern border. Whoever gets it is placed in a 30 years do-or-die contract with the government.
Flaw: High Maintenance
Typical inserted flaw to create dependency. The Augment would need biweekly injections of cyberfluid to avoid rejection, eventually overriding the cardiovascular system. Can then change to monthly injection. Cyberfluid required to avoid rejections. While not all augments require cyberfluid to operate, maintenance injections and immuno-boosters are a common feature of DPR augment to ensure loyalty from agents.
