[WIP] Court Of The Gilded Roses

Yeah, I understand the difficulty there.

Anyway, I am thinking that if possible, you should include a romance with at least one concubine who has or will have an heir. Becoming the future Valide’s lover is absolutely a worthy course of ambition, yes?

(And after you secure their child’s inheritance? Long. Live. The Shah. :grinning:)

Only one way to find out how the community reacts to it, I guess. I look forward to seeing it.

That’s an intriguing idea! And tbh there’s a lot of groundwork for that to happen. Originally, there was a concubine RO and a similar plotline basically a love triangle between K/Mc/concubine RO but it got scraped as I started to see Khazunef as a more monogamous character. It could definitely still work.

Yes I hope I’m just being dramatic lol. Look forward to sharing it.

Interesting! I like that considering that when I play interactive fiction, I often find myself stressing over how to build my stats properly so I can succeed in certain choices.

It’s nice I don’t have to worry as much! :]

He’s already bedded at least seven of his women at least once (that’s what promotes them to concubine, right?). Of course, whether he’s as monogamous in giving his love - and to what extent that influences his choice of heir - is another challenge for any player feeling the need to scheme.

Intrigue, drama, scheming and all that wrapped up in a romance bow? I was so lucky to stumble upon this one. The quality of the writing made it a very enjoyable read, all the descriptions painted such a vivid image of the setting. However, I think my favourite part is the way in which MC (princess in my case) is written - her inner thoughts and behaviour. Long story short, I can’t wait for more! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Also, I’ve a question about Khazunef romance path. What I’m curious about is basically the relationship dynamics a little later on… Will Khazunef still actively seek out the company of other women from the harem or not? Will MC have to (or even be able to) discourage it somehow? As much as I’m up for all the harem scheming and power straggle, I would still like my romance path to be a genuine love story.

Or encourage it for that matter…(in harem stories, being the one who tries to help make sure everyone’s happy and getting plenty of sex should absolutely be an option)

Yes in normal circumstances that would be the requirement. But the women currently in Kaz’s “official” harem, (Yaris, Nyserin, Zahra, Nimeda, Saline, Junli and Brielle) were married/sent off to him while he was still just a prince and the heir. So they basically automatically got promoted when he became Shah and the protocol doesn’t quite apply. I’ll delve deeper into this in the text and make it clear.

Yes exactly. Monogamous in the sense that his love and devotion would only belong to you.

Khazunef currently doesn’t seek out the company of women. He’s so avoidant of his harem it’s actually becoming a matter of state lol (his vizier had to sit him down basically and be like the empire needs heirs dude what are you doing.)

He is on good terms with most of his consorts. Favorite of the bunch would probably be Nimeda. He enjoys walks with Zahra, Nyserin’s biting wit and listening to Brielle recite her poetry. But he doesn’t sleep with them, so you won’t have to worry about him going all Henry VIII on you.

But that’s mainly due to his own issues about the whole harem system which he’s both a product and a victim of. He doesn’t want to father a hundred kids that will compete for the crown and destroy each other in the process. He doesn’t want to be his dad. Part of it is trauma and part of it is him just trying to be responsible in his own hardheaded way.

I totally get it! And this is something I thought about a lot when creating his character. I know Part of the fun in these types of stories (for me at least) is the satisfaction of crushing the competition trying to win the Shah’s affections and coming out on top. But you really can’t do that if there’s no one to compete with. And on the other hand if he’s a RO then there should be a valid romance path without you feeling like a side piece. Though I feel it would be great for angst :face_with_hand_over_mouth:.

The player will get to define what sort of relationship they want with Kaz. If it’s something more traditionally monogamous they want they can have that or if it’s something more free and open, they can have that as well. Or they can just be friends. There’s plenty to do without having to bed the emperor or keep his company.

If you choose to be in a relationship with him (I get it I can’t resist a Royal RO either!) You will be given the opportunity to set your boundaries and express that you don’t want him visiting other concubines or you don’t mind if he sleeps with them as long as he doesn’t fall in love with them. Or maybe you don’t mind what he does as long as you remain his favorite, which is where this comes in:

There will absolutely be opportunities to encourage this. You can push Kaz towards your allies and people you trust aren’t trying to pull him away from you or organize a three way with him and a concubine you’ve been crushing on. The path of hedonism is there to be used!

TLDR: Kaz’s path is probably the messiest RO path to write because of all the… factors. But course nothing is set in stone yet and the more I write about these characters the more they take shape.

Out of curiosity, will there be a cheat menu?

Will we be able to poison our way through the top? This reminded me of Semiramis who poisoned her husband and then ruled Babylonia. Only to lose then throne when their son came back.

My intent is not for the game to be so difficult or challenging that you’d need a cheat menu. I’m aiming for different outcomes based on your choices, not outright failure but I could create a walkthrough for players who need help achieving certain outcomes.

First of all, Semiramis is such a pretty name and honestly good for her. Secondly, poisoning your rivals is permitted. Heck you can do that in the chapter I’m about to upload. And if your sons try to send you to a convent or imprison you in your chambers or act otherwise unruly, you can poison them also.

Hey again is that necessary or can we be a beloved Family?

That mean that we can kill Shira if we want it and we can be the Impress, is that right? And how many will Shira have Children with the Shah? Thank you.

Can we choose two Paths with him also for me I can say it know I want to be his Wife and his beloved to. And I Don’t want him to love any one else in the Harem maybe my Elie’s.
Thank you so much again, can’t wait to play it again.
Good luck.

Yes you can have a normal family.

I think you mean Yaris? Yaris is Khazunef’s wife, not Shira and yes you can have her killed. Yaris currently has no children with kaz, as for the second part, I can’t reveal that right now.

You can have a relationship with Kaz where you’re devoted to only each other.

I encountered several bugs. The first one on slave route and the second one is one princess route

I got the same bug as Lynossa on the prisoner route. Figured I should say.

Edit: It seems to be that regardless of the character origin, picking the bottom option on that choice gives that error.

Found an error!

But it looks like it’s been reported before, so no pics.

That said, this is REALLY good. I love it so far!

Interesting so far, would like to have saves. Pretty original take, hope it takes off

I like it. Normally I don’t like to play female MC, but the story seems to be intriguing enough and seems to be promising. I will follow the future updates.

And yeah, I would like saves too. It’s fine for now, but as the game gets longer, it will be a pain in the ass to look for bugs and look different options

The update was expected for this weekend isn’t it sorry for that I was just wondering if it is right what I have in mind. I am just waiting for it. I hope that you are well.
