(WIP) Corruptant [172k words, New Update: April 11th, 2024]

I think it’s too early to blow cover and go on murderous rampage, I would play along just now until at least MC is out from this prison.

But I enjoy the murder and mayhem.

Or warm like the blood that will flow. I enjoyed killing the annoying lords son. Also played with my prey as a cat does. My MC has cat energy.

Open cold blooded murder is not my style, I like to strike when they’re least expecting me, I want to see the surprised expression in their face as I betray them.

Like having them hanging by the ledge only to slowly release grab one finger at the time slowly gently… With smile on my face.

That’s my kind of vengeance

Also a cool MC! Mine is not like that. Mine went insane from the torture. There is no feeling of wanting vengeance. No long term plans beside enjoying killing and torturing others for fun. If I die along the way I will have had some fun atleast! :face_holding_back_tears::heart:

So Sam doesn’t want to share despite allowing MC languishing in the prison, I understand that author want to portray Sam as having regret but it’s not enough, regret is cheap it’s always come late, Sam is like second in rank of hate the first is dear mother, the third is the damn scientist, next is the rest, The cultist I am fine with.

Honestly, I want to portray an MC who is so mentally screwed that he simply doesn’t care about revenge, he’s just going through life doing whatever he wants at the moment, instead of planning something
If the situation arises, maybe he will kill 1 or 2 (Probably the people who voted for MC to be arrested, like his mother and some nobles, since from what I read here, other people are involved in this, but apart from them, the rest of my MC doesn’t care) but he honestly just wants to live his life his way, even if that life is not very moral or stable. Revenge is a very obvious path in this story, so I want to be different and take revenge, while doing what I want

My MC’s ideology is pretty weird, but we’re talking about a mentally unstable MC, so I want to do something different :stuck_out_tongue:

Who knows? Maybe the shard or Sam. It is still a guessing game for me too.

Bro what does that any of that have to to do with their character not being interested in poly relationships lmao. Also “allowing MC to languish in prison” what exactly did you want them to do, charge in and fight everyone to get you out then die. The mom wasn’t gonna let you out, and to be blunt nobody else gave a damn about you before being a corruptant so they couldn’t get any help.

Waiting to see what our memories reveal to us.

I doubt Sam would been capable to do anything anyway.

Mother had a choice of listening to orders or most likely killed, rather than fired.

Also something huge missing. What happened to get us put away?

Thats the burning question to Sam and Mother. I really wish I could ask! The main Q&A to decide my course of actions. Its bit annoying I can’t.

Just hope it wasn’t forgotten about as a to do. Similar has happened elsewhere of sorts.

So, this demo officially made me lose sleep, staying up Waaaay later than I should have. And then made me blow off a fair portion of my afternoon at work reading in my office instead.

I absolutely adore this work. My God, the Calibur of writers showing up in this forum these days is inspiring.

It’s about doing what promised, it can be symbolic, it can be anything, just don’t be inactive and passive.

Isn’t Sam and MC promise to be there to help each other in need? It’s not about result it’s about trying, it is easier and doesn’t feel like betrayal if sam do something.

If the role is reversed I am damn sure my MC will do something.

Honestly It’s all about trying to do something rather than result at this point, if Sam try and fail it’s at least an effort on Sam’s part, at this point I just need the story to tell my MC that people, one ot two or some people do care however even with their best effort they fail, I am desperately seeking reason as to why should I save this people that torture and exploit MC,

It’s part of the narrative because as for now MC doesn’t have the drive the scale is too much tilted into doesn’t give a damn scale than actually care scale.

Each story have a motive as to what drive the main character to do what they do, like Lord of the ring it’s Frodo lust of adventure he want to be like Bilbo at least, which later develop into sense of duty because only Frodo can resist the ring.

Shield hero for example He is abandoned by the world, shunned, hated and most people conspire against him to make him fail, but his drive is their companion, if he doesn’t get stronger their companion will suffer and possibly die in shield hero story his companion do care about him, fiercely loyal and kind to him even though they’re not that strong of a fighter.

Attack on Titan for example Eren have vengeance drive because his family is eaten by Titan, Armin want to see the world see the sea so Titan need to go, Mikasa drive is just to protect Eren.

Each of this story have motive for MC to do what they do, in here so far we have none, world so dark there is literally no reason to save it, from childhood story people is cruel, MC getting bullied, MC is treated as a tool than a human being, MC is being exploited for their gift, the one that jail MC and allow experimentation is a person that close to MC, MC’s ally did nothing to save MC, MC is subjected as Guinea Pig for experimentation, extraction of body parts, physical and mental abuse, torture and being put in hopeless situation.

And this give the MC all reasons to want everybody to burn and die painfully for none have even tried helped them when they needed the most

Basically the problem is we havent seen what happened long ago so everything else stems from that defining event. Until we get that info im kinda reserving judgment at the moment for all we know sam had allready tried and failed an we just dont know it yet as players. Or who knows what its part of what has me curious lol

No, because mercy killing or just plain “not torturing them to make weapons” would’ve been humane.

My main problem with these people, specially the mother, is that one cannot forgive someone that is not sorry.
Sure, It seems they’re uncomfortable with the situation yet as much as they may feel icky, they believe what has been done to the MC is the GOOD choice. In their mind the extreme suffering and stripping of their personhood is necessary for the greater good. That’s why some look uncomfortable and see the MC as unreasonable for not believing themselves and their well being less important than those of others.
An example of this is the first interaction with the alchemist.
How can there be forgiveness when there is no remorse?
