[WIP] Chains of Destiny: Book One (~370k words) - Last update: 2025/02/12

In IFs like this where there is an option for it I tend to enjoy starting a family drama between a sibling or something similar lmao but that’s just me.

I don’t think we’re the minority, and I have to agree. Sis is a ‘you get what you give’ kinda character and I like that. If you like her, she likes you. If you’re kind to her, she’s kind to you. It’s very easy. Don’t know why some people are hell bent on hating her but if they chose the antagonistic options when dealing with her then it’s on them if lil’ sis acts cruel to them. Her only fault when we first meet her is being overly excited at seeing us :joy:

Ooh, I remember this one. The opening was quite memorable, not the best experience for a 12 year old… nor losing a character I liked right away! But such is how a story goes sometimes. Certainly interested to see how this Campaign is going to unfold, and how I can start using my big numbers going up to do big numbers things!

And unrelated to all of that, I greatly appreciate, and am amused, by the option to train shirtless as a female MC and just wear some bindings instead.
Do slightly wish I could decide how much bust she may, or may not, have but that’s just a personal thing. Always think that is a physical trait that is one that would get brought up in things more often.

For my MC, Julia is his precious little sister and he might be a bit of an overprotective, doting brother. I for one love her and my MC’s dynamic with her. They are the two close siblings that love to tease and joke with each other.

As for Barnabas, yeah…our MC may have removed their outer tunic, but they are still wearing expensive material no stable kid could afford. They didn’t strip naked… I stated before, but it’s that 0 in perception, man. It’s a miracle Barnabas doesn’t trip over his own feet. xD

I look forward to the future. My MC carries the silent scars of his childhood experience. Under his smiles and jokes, he’s already got the grim aura of a war veteran that has seen some stuff. Which made for a fun moment of solitude between him and General Dolion.

I assume if ppl look close enough, my MC smiles but there is a darkness within his eyes. He’s certainly not the naive, coddled rich kid ppl might assume him to be. Since that moment as a kid, I feel like my MC has been training almost daily so he’d never again be powerless to protect himself and his family. He’s sort of grown into a mini-Juna in a sense. Even has her horse.

Man, I thought I was going crazy with all the Julia hate I was seeing. People surprised Julia is cruel to their mc when it sounds like they had Mc be cruel to Julia every chance they got it’s no surprise that all the love Julia had for their older sibling is gone now. You definitely get what you give with Julia.

Nice dude! Gimmi a cruel & brutal MC. Lemme take out the council, Barnabas & a shit ton of enemies. Hell… gimmi an option to destroy the republic and I’ll be even happier. :innocent:

True, even if we chose the least mean option when interacting with Julia we’re still being a dismissive older sibling to her and who in their right mind likes having a lowkey neglectful sibling that treats them like they’re a nuisance at best? Especially in the world of Chains of Destiny where you really only have your family.

It’s true her comment towards MC on the antagonistic path is insensitive and cruel, but honestly the MC did it first to her so you reap what you sow. I stand with Julia and I’ll die on this hill protecting her, she may not be a perfect little angel but that’s exactly why I like her. Besides, after seeing the councilors and Erik, she might as well be!

I don’t know why people make a fuss about little sister wanted to be clingy, in here it’s pretty normal for that, the problem always will be when you’re the oldest you have nobody that comfort you, however being eldest have it’s perk you inherit most of Family wealth and you become next family/household head so yeah with perks comes responsibility, happy siblings is one way for you to not get assassinated and have firm control as household/family head.

I feel this is unnecessary aggression toward sibling rather confusing, because in here Family is EVERYTHING, Family take care each other, we even goes as far to have records of who born from who down to year and exact day and hour of birth, a family tree span for generations in the past, nothing goes unrecorded.

It’s pretty funny when you meet someone new only to find out that this person is your cousin thrice generation away from your great grandfather/Mother.

What’s not to love when you find out it’s your great far away uncle that work in that clinic you’re visiting getting family “discount” Or just straight up only needed to pay the medicine cost, find out it’s your far away aunt that own that noodle shop and getting extra portion, you guys miss much of the action, the benefits… Well you could say this is nepotism but who cares when everyone doing the same.

Yeah I like teasing Julia, I am a sucker for cheek pinch… No sibling of mine is safe from check pinch.

Because maybe some people prefer her to stay away? Because she refuses and tries to force love for her no matter what? It’s not that cruel, certainly not compared to the comments she says to a person with trauma from being kidnapped.

She’s the one who provokes it because she literally does the same thing throughout all their childhood. Even though her attempts have the opposite effect and MC dislikes her even more.
What do you do when your strategy doesn’t work for a long time? You try another way (like give your sibling some space and see what happens). Kids are able to figure our that but of course not her

Besides most of the relationship options are loving Julia. I don’t like them they they too much “oh my sweet sweet little sis ” etc. and being antagonistic was the only different option when you I want to play a distant MC who doesn’t like affection. But the spoiled brat makes us look like a big bad because she doesn’t get what she wants (probably the only thing in her life, lol). Oh, yeah, very cruel.

Julia’s fine. I like her in small doses. She’s probably getting too much screen time though. I don’t see her being all that important to the story and upcoming wars.

Nothing wrong with being overly excited to see your big bro either. She almost has a, dare I say puppy personality?

Julia I am sure will have important role in the future, MC is not one man army after all, MC need solid foundation as springboard as to whatever they wanted to achieve in the future, what’s better that to start early gathering allies?

She is after all also inherit same blood as MC she is… You could say claimant of your title, we’re talking about Noble bloodline after all.

Even if you have no love for your sibling playing along will not cost you anything, from pragmatic point of view there is no need to add her to your list of enemy, I am sure plenty of that later on.

It is wrong if she can’t respect their will.

Of course not. They’ll have hundreds of soldiers to lead in a goddamn war.

My MC doesn’t have many people to turn to for comfort, but the way I see it, in seeking comfort from my MC, also helps MC to find comfort from them somehow. It’s not a direct way of getting comfort, but I’m getting comfort by providing comfort. It’s a roundabout way for sure.

It is wrong if she can’t respect their will.

Except the will of my MC is not the will of your MC, so we will have to agree to disagree.

I mean that on personal level, sure you have bunch of soldier but how about other critical position? Like for example quartermaster, rear guard commander, scout, diplomat, envoy, auxiliary commander, what’s use of general without corporal, sergeant along that chain of command?

Sure yeah put random people to this position… Everything will be fine…

And of course if you are her enemy, she may also get hundreds of soldiers to command on the opposite side. In that case, I would rather keep her at my own side.
