(WIP) Beyond the Gilded Veil (Grim Fantasy, Romance | 63.5k | v2.3 | Updated 2025/05/05)

Hey yall! I’m back after nearly a month of procrastination, exams and an unhealthy amount of hours into Expedition 33! Hurray! Anyways, I reworked Pythia’s character, expanded chapter 1, did some balance changes, and a couple other things. Word count has gone from 48k to about 63.5k.

I don’t know if I screwed up and entered my name in the wrong text box, but whenever the story mentions eye color, it always uses my character’s name instead. After I finish this readthrough, I will see if I can replicate it and report back. Other than that, great work so far!

I had the same issue. The game has no name for me and instead described my family golden eye color as my name. :sweat_smile:

Otherwise, love the new bits of information and story, along with the childhood training fight for those of us that might later on choose not to try to fight the guards. :+1:

I actually really like the battle system. It’s intuitive and requires a little thought and strategy.

I deployed a hotfix, so the bugs should be fixed, along with some spelling mistakes I found going over again.

Hi, I found a bug in the new version. When leveling up with Abyssal Magic and selecting Wrathful Blades, it takes you to the weapon selection choice and doesn’t add the spell to the player’s spellbook

I’ve noted it down. Since you don’t actually get to use the spell yet anyways, I won’t bother with a hotfix, instead I’ll fix it in the next version. Thanks!

Like the game so far. Though I would like a save system. Sometimes the game don’t load when you press back in the fight, doing everything grom the start is a pain. Especially when we depend on RNG in fights.

Hey there! I’m unable to implement a save system on itch, but the one of COGDemos works. And what do you mean pressing back, the game doesn’t load?

Hotfix 2 is out, you can now save in the itch version too. Please direct all your applause to @DaoImmerser for their helpful link. I’ll try not to fiddle with the old scenes too much from now on, as to not mess up save files, but no promises.

Strange, for me de CoG save system doesn’t work. Edit: But on PC does.

About the bug, it happend at the fight with our sister where I pressed to use a spell, but when pressed to go back it started a eternal loading

Huh, I tried it out and it’s loading back just fine. Can you give me some more information? Like what website you used, how far into the combat you were, if you saved/reloaded a save, stuff like that.

Are you logged in? Nine times out of ten when that happens to me it’s because my log in has timed out or I’ve accidentally refreshed and that’s logged me out. (Of course, that doesn’t explain the tenth time…)

A possibility might be loading saves in combat (save-scumming). Sometimes, loading saves in loops screws up the program, but I could be wrong.
