What do the Background synergies even do?
They give you extra AP pressure and, in the case of the Midorokatai + Trapper (I don’t remember if there are more), some special events

Merchant background also gets some extra options in some cases (e.g. during the interaction with merchant caravan in Chapter 4)

During the mission in 2nd chapter, if you can craft him one while preparing, he will potentially acquire another if you send him to deal with guards around the inn afterwards.

Can the beastmaster have multiple beasts or is it limited to the roc?
Finally did Oni + handseal + curse style + darkness + all corruption and it was super fun. The kill moves were super metal, but also a lot more physical brawling style than I expected tho lol. The two big moments involving the curse style are an axe kick and “teleport” hand spear thru the chest

I just played the update. When was this game updated how long have I been slacking? By the way, I like the name for the blind mode sonar mode. It made me chuckle. My screen reader was able to read the dots

there also the part during the search for the monk temple to learn a element, that you encounter a grim and when you blind it with snow, you also use curse style to finish it

Yeah that’s what I meant by the axe kick. You blind with snow then kick its head in iirc
