Talking about crafting, Fuinjutsu is fun but I don’t get the connection with curses, generally they are pretty separate concepts in similar setting.
And I’m a bit confused at exactly what curses are supposed to be, they are seemingly very important to a few of the main styles but they aren’t really described and the one occasion where you can try one, you haven’t ascended so you just get punched in the face.
Fuinjutsu feels more like Enchantment and Spatial magics then Curses and the like.

You have to have the Blade style and get to the scene where you’re traveling to the Trial. After the merchant escort scene, she’ll show up as your mentor.
I see, is it only for blade style? Guess i have to playthrough from start then. Will others meet her in next update then
@Lonily Most romances don’t start until the Heavenly Ascension Trials, with only some setting/hinting/probing for player interest beforehand. Jack’s only one so far is Withstanding his suckerpunch and teasing him about it.
@vera No bird yokai yet, both bird and rodent got cut until I got more progress and made races at least a little meaningful. Didn’t want to offer 40 animal options and then have them mean nothing, I’ll go back and look at additions later.
@Zarkrai Your father creating Soul Treasure armor instead of a weapon for you is a political move, doing the opposite might have sent the wrong message and invited threats. I might make an option earlier on but for now the main plan for Crafting is to do it at the Trials where you have more experience in knowing your build before expending relatively massive resources, plus it’s where those resources will be MUCH more widely available (at a markup price, unless you find someone in need). As for what weapons do, they’ll mostly be stat increases with the occasional story impact.
@Dragomer Noted, Kosuke will be ecstatic to have two crossbows. As for handseals, Sealing is not always about curses, the scroll your Merchant father gave you is just curse-based because you find out if you have Cursed Chi that it’s a Kurokonton-specific seal scroll. Outside of that, Seals are mostly enchantments used for Martial Artists to have more utility in life or for peasants to enjoy a modest living. Even those without chi can use certain ritual components and have the ambient chi around them fuel a Seal, like forming light or strengthening the hardness of a door or purifying water. I will have to go into it a bit more as yes it’s not described smoothly. For now, think of them like D&D’s wizard cantrips that certain Martial Artists can crank up to 11 (out of a possible 5).

Two things so far i noticed on my run through.
First: several say he instead of she.
Second: paragraph that says Rin (sister) can marry up due to being a girl, i think a girl MC should be applied then and not with Jin (brother), unless unknown factor exists there? Understood it if were two brothers in that sentence. Simpler solution in my mind is to erase it.
That is all ive seen so far that. Everything else i am enjoying. Hating Master Mao cause they have no wisdom, common sense or intelligent thoughts.

The gendered variables are fixed more for the next update BUT that’s a very good point about how female MCs would have different internal thoughts on the matter.
I don’t know how you can make the romance with Jack feel realistic and not forced. I mean, almost destroying the core of the MC’s little bro is smth that i doubt they would ever forget and since you can’t chose how to feel about that (MC defaults to anger) it wouldn’t make sense for them to suddendly get flirty.
Unless Jack goes on a soul searching journey and comes back a better man, which I highly doubt it’ll happen.
Would the Inspect Element also works on WIPs based on Moody.Ink?

Huh, im thoroughly depressed by that mention as i was really into it, and hoping eventually dating once at trials. I need to shift off away from this then.
Loved the story and emotions of hating Jack and Mao, wanting to beat them to a pulp or death.

Could you explain core surges?
I must’ve missed it but they seem to be some sort of temp boost that drain a core in combat.
I’ll add an entry to the journal section for explaining combat systems. Core Surges are when you fail a roll by 1, you empty 1 of your Core points to succeed at the roll. When you increase your surge value in a specific Core you can empty more Cores to succeed at even harder rolls. So if you need to pass an Agility 6 roll you need Agility 6, or Agility 5 and you’ll spend 1 core, but if you increase your Agility Surge value to 2 (The Flash Step Technique does this) then you can succeed an Agility 6 check with only 4 Agility by spending 2 Agility Cores.
Emptied cores recover with time, rest, or pills.
Basically, roll difficulties are [stat + stat surge value] unless you’ve already emptied too many Cores.
