Made a guide with merchant backround, as long as you acquire similar stats and take the same steps it will probably work with other backgrounds too(Though you won’t earn as much shards for cycling). Keep in mind that my playthrough usually involves getting Persuasion to 3 and 3/2 Deception for some checks in chapter 5 if you remove that you could score higher. Also I train with both Jin and Rin in chapter 3.

- Market-> Covert all currencies to shards-> Sage shop-> Steal Hungry spirit-> Get Western seal-> Buy 10 Ritual components-> Sell all your Alchemy reagents-> Go to the caravan, Smile casually-> Dash-> “Good”-> Do not Haggle or sell yet just buy exactly 1 weighted clothing-> Use ritual components or chi for Northern seal and get +1 Survival-> Hunt for soul treasures(The AP you gain from this decreases over time so best to do this first)
- Cast Western seal for +1 Persuasion with ritual components or chi-> Go to the caravan and Haggle + sell the portrait-> Convert all the silver to shards-> Get factotum’s blessing for Deception, Buy 2 Weighted clothing and get 3 path manuals to set up +2 Handseals and +1 Athletics.
- Earn funds by selling the shop(9000 should be best)-> Earn funds from guard duty + Send Kosuke.
- Time to get an element-> Coordinate attack-> Cast Handseals → Attack the mask-> “It would be rude to decline”-> Very well-> What is the meaning of life?-> Get Earth element-> “I think I am beginning to understand”
- Cast eastern seal for Handseals with chi and Western for athletics → Convert all your silver again-> Start cycling all your shards-> Buy the last soul treasures if you have the shards-> Go to the library for research-> Train with Rin-> Train with Jin.( If you want to you can buy the southern seal before cycling which can get you an extra skill later on in chapter 4 when you click “Cast a Handseal”)
- Before you fight Tian Fang make sure to increase all cores by 1 and cast Handseals for Handseals and Athletics-> Challenge to duel-> Shoot her + Leap-> Leap to dodge-> Gather energy for a beam-> Get storm element.
- " We fought, I won" → “Do you need an escort?”-> " Is there a problem?" → Go for 46~ Shards if you wanna.
Chapter ends, AP: 1010
Chapter 4
- Camp in the woods-> Catch it by the fangs-> Delivery an aerial strike or energy blasts-> Leave the noble creature alone
- Look for survivors-> Use reagents to treat-> Your clan-> Sign the contract-> Merchant background option-> Cast eastern handseal with chi for handseals-> Convert all your silver and gold-> Buy the first 4 cultivation manuals-> Cycle shards but leave at least 220-> Buy the last 2 manuals(Elemental ones)-> Leave(Buy clothes of you wanna)
- “Not the rags again”-> Kick him-> Training → Choose the + Insight and + Deception option.

Chapter 5
- Get all your cores up by one-> “Have you ever heard of Taio?”-> “If it’s meant to be”-> " Working for Taio will get you killed"

Just a small note, Fang doesn’t like that much and you lose bit of standing with her. It’s better to punch through her armor there if you can pull that off.

So I’ve got 2 questions.
What’s up with equipment that has an elemental modifier on them. Like “+thunder” or what have you. Does that act as if you have the element or does it add a boost if you already have the element?
And will Muramasa be getting some love soon? Cause I’m rooting for the little fella since you can not only make a better sword right after getting them but also just get 1 of 2 better swords in chapter 7.

They increase your proficiency with the element if you have it, and yes, I plan to make Muramasa far worse as it attempts to consume your soul.

I see. Changed that part. You can take both options I believe with the path I wrote but added increase agility there to end the chapter 6 with 6 in all cores

The best style is the style that lets me get to my preferred love interest! At first I kept doing bladed potential because swords are cool, and I thought travelling with Leona was the canon route. Then I did codediving (to cheat < 3) and realized that all the abilities actually correspond with a character

Quick question to anyone who knows - what do the elemental crests of yin and yang actually do when you have both equipped?
Just hearing of a cursed weapon, how do you get it?
In chapter 5, if you’re Blade Style or Oni and choose to find a weapon then there’s a katana that “calls to you” under the regular katana option. That’s Muramasa. And there’s a power check after you get it too.

There IS a yin crest in the game correct? How do you get it? I don’t remember ever obtaining such a thing.
To be more specific, Muramasa needs you to either = Have blade style / Have Oni Race / Have certain amount of taint (Probably just needs you to absorb the book.)

I’ve been able to get Muramasa by doing that early bandit corruption event while being a kitsune and the same as any of the yokai while going the shinobi style path… so it’s not exactly exclusive to oni or blade style it seems.

I’m going off OLD info I’m barely remembering so there could be plenty of ways to get it that I wouldn’t know of.
Just absorbing the book seems like the biggest way to get Muramasa… I just like my mc being an evil feck to add extra steps lmao. That aside it could be several of those possibilities.

Having both crests equipped grants +1 to both agility and health, on top of individual crest bonuses (these being +rank to element in the slot, plus potentially +1 power or fortitude if element alignment matches the crest)

The other crest is obtainable, from my personal experience, if you sided with the Merchants and you can use the Writ to get the crest in chapter 7.
