If you want to combo Water and Storm you can learn water first at the optional devanic temple trip during chapter 3 and then learn Storm later on after you beat Titan Fang
Also the thing about trusting someone you just met is valid but that’s just the akakiru path you have opportunities to meet the other mentors prior to them training you there’s a reason why you can’t meet leona beforehand
I know many stories has the part where you’re like “wow that was dumb”. I guess that was my part. The part just felt unnatural and unbelievable to read. What I’m saying is couldn’t the whole interaction between them be written better? Isn’t the whole point of a demo is for players to offer their critique? But here you’re giving me multiple reasons to me why it is ok.
I don’t mind if the author just leaves the part as it is. It is his/her work after all. I will still play the finished game even if nothing changed in that part. It’s a demo after all and so I offered my thoughts on it to the author.
Lets agree to disagree on the villain part. I personally don’t like facing the same boss again and again in games. It just does not feel as exciting killing the same guy again and again. More so when they are just husks and it seem they don’t even know what the other is doing. Maybe the boss knows. I don’t mind a villain beating my ass over and over throughout the story and then us growing and beating them in the end. A cliche I know. But that is just personal preference and I can respect why you like it.
Do you mean the escape when she is dressed like a Sunbringer (forgot the name) sect? I said I liked the inclusion of cheat mode. Never said I played with it. I usually do a normal playthrough and then the cheat one just to pass all the checks and see all the options.
But anyways, I just wanted leave my opinion on the game as overall I really had fun. I just read demos to see what games to look forward to. This is probably the first time I have left any thoughts on a demo. I don’t spend much time on the internet nor like posting much. This is probably my final post on this topic. It was a fun chat. Hope you have a great day.
And I gave you reasons why the abrupt alliance was believable. Leona was not allowed to kill the MC because she would be hunted by big boys. The MC was desperate for allies and for Leona, it was a good chance to eliminate, or at least weaken Jack. The narration demands you to get a mentor, yes, but it also gives you reasons why it’s a good idea. Maybe you would be more open to Desdemona, Angelo, or Fang as our mentors - they appear earlier than Leona and you can have a positive opinion of them before they start teaching you.
Yes. Replay that part and deliberately fail your escape attempt. You will then play as Kosuke for a few pages. The best part of his/her characterization comes from the fact they have their own journal which tells you how she feels about many things and people.
Dang tha more I think about the more I feel bad for Kosuke. As if being born as a beggar wasn’t bad enough the only reason she gained an aura was to support us her best friend in our life long dream of becoming a martial artist. And now that she has she’s kinda forced to either get stronger or die trying. If she doesn’t she might end up as light snack for the next Beast or Spirit she comes across and if she gets too strong she might be targeted by “proper” martial artists that see her as a threat
Been sick with the family so just getting to these critiques now. I could see about giving the two plot holes some more justification. Something like Leona may not warn you about the side effects or deceive you in some other way, and for Desdemona’s/Guiren’s antagonistic training, where you side against them but then team up, currently Guiren’s makes sense because he explains how trialgoers can’t kill each other and he partners with you to take out whoever tried to get you both killed by giving him the contract on your life. Desdemona, meanwhile, has no real clause for why you can trust her if you were previously enemies. I’ll see about something added in.
As for the Taio Clones, definitely sticking with them for the story but they won’t be the only enemies, more variety is on its way.
@fsix Writing Kosuke’s thoughts on that was actually easier than I thought by using programming as a metaphor. Do I know how to program? Sure, kinda. Is it extremely beneficial to be one of the best at it? Absolutely. Do I put in the effort in my free time to be better? No, (pre-kids) I nap, fish, play Crusader Kings, or hang out with friends. That is the way of 99% of the people, and it is the way of Kosuke. Improvement is good, and anyone rational would focus on it 24/7, but people are not rational and they like enjoying their night after working (or begging) all day.
@JVM I think I fixed that for the next build, I’ll run a Kitsune in testing to make sure it’s working.
@JkDeez I don’t have a cap on how high a skill can go, and probably won’t because I’m going to be halving all stats in any potential sequel (and increasing the scope of what those ranks do, so Power 6 in book 3 is monumentally stronger than Power 6 in book 1), so I’m not worried about statbloat breaking the UI. However I did have a cap on how many times you can increase your skills in chapter 3. As I am a codelet, I accidentally had it set to 4 instead of 3. That’s been fixed for the next update.
I’ve been thinking about what you wrote about kitsune. Are kitsune going to be more susceptible to corruption due to their spiritual nature or will they be more resistant?
Also when you do the merchant ninja path you can use the curse crossbow thing on jack, is that ability a one use thing or are we going to be able to use it again?
Is the antagonistic version and the one where you first him on the assassination attempt largely the same? I confess to not having done both paths to see the difference.
In your personal opinion what would yall all rank as the most powerful elements thus far. Storm ranks pretty high for me Ice and Earth also seem very good as well.
from all the times I have played the game with different element I will say the number 1 strongest element is shadow due to creating a void or blackhole during the second clone Tao fight, the next will be storm due to making me feel like sasuke using the thunder clap and like one of those op lightning deities in shows and movies and finally the third will be light making me feel like trickster that is just playing with illusions
Hey have any Steamy scenes been added with Desmonda, leona or furry girl yet because I haven’t encountered any yet aside from the one with the temple girl which is only a fling at best
