[WIP] a doomed day (time-loop murder mystery) | 74K words | update: 18 Dec. 2025

I have to admit I’m excited about the idea and plan to test it soon… I’ve been searching for something on this theme for a long time and I’m a fan of works of this type like: Erased, Re:Zero,Boss Level, One More Time Totally Killer, Etc….

Oh man, I watched Erased back when it was still airing. That takes me back.

I love time-loop stories. I’ve written dozens over the years!

It’s nice to see something different like this, i honestly feels bored of usual fantasy

Okay, for some reason I can’t get to the final part of the dinner and I’m stuck in an endless loading screen, so I’ll just comment on what I’ve seen so far.

It seems very good to me, not too difficult but, at the same time, complex since you have to be careful with the themes you talk about.

i feel I will be punished for my audacity in the future :smiling_face_with_tear:

Furthermore, I have a question… could I hypothetically be killed by a random family member if I annoy them too much? Or is there only one assassin? The system of gaining or losing favor has left me with this doubt…

Thanks, I’ll double check what’s up today; the game passed random test x6000, too. How dare it break!

Some love it, though! Lia and Bruce definitely prefer more daring characters. Daring, Sassy, and Cold are very helpful for when you’re able to investigate your family in Loop 1 (and beyond), as you’re not scared to challenge your family’s lies or evasiveness.

Well, any family member will kill you to keep their secrets safe… except Bruce (not by default, at least). Loop 0 and Loop 1 will have limited endings so that you can get used to seeing what annoys characters and what leads to what endings and deaths. Loop 2 and Loop 3 (final) gives you access to almost every single ending and death. I’m using Loop 0 and Loop 1 as an extended tutorial since Hosted Games don’t have save files.

So, you’ll have to really make one person irritated (and it’ll be communicated multiple times before you get killed that this person is irritated—from Lia’s tarot reading giving you a tip, to bombing dinner for a character obsessed with it going well, to how the family member treats you if you stand near them for family photos, and countless other things I’ve coded) for them to target you that night. If no one meets a “kill you” threshold, you’ll just get the default ending.

Does this help a little? Thank you for playing.

No problem, I honestly think it was more my browser or internet connection than the book itself.

Add cynical to that sum and you have my build in game and real life.
